Yeah- what have y’all been up to since last month’s Mew?
My fishing charters have reeled in the bumpurr crop of the Groupurrs, Snappurrs, Cobias, Wahoos and Tunas, hya! Otherwise, we have been volunteering at the food bank, attending the festivities, and my drum circle has been purrcussioning for the dance purrformances, nya!
Aside from helping with the charters, our cats, the food bank, the festivities, and – and collecting more little pony items, I have been face – painting at the kids’ portion of the art meweseum’s annual body art show, and – and snapping more of the lovely lepidoptera photos, nya!
They have been purriceless help at the dance class. As mewsual, my itinerary is compurrised of mornings at the yoga studio, afternoons at the kyudo range, alternating nights at the robotics club and dance class, with weekends of modeling swim wear and attending events.
I think that it has been our best – attended body art show yet! When I have not collecting the pony items, helping at the dock and the food bank, I have been assisting Jenjen at the belly dance class, paddle surfing, and I have signed up for the advanced board – shaping workshop!
As mewsual they have been the big help at the mewseum, and we are grateful for the wonderful exhibitors, patrons and volunteers, and other purrticipants! Bun and I are also appurreciative for the fans, staff, officials, and our fellow athletes in our beach volleyball league, nya!
It is the honor to be part of our community of very talented friendly artisans, athletes and my fellow bakers who donate the delicious, nutritious! I have been tending also to my garden, where the flox, daisies, sedium, heather, sweet peas and the clover are all coming up nicely!
We certainly apppurreciate those gracious efforts and we will be cheering for y’all when the beach volleyball season begins! I am also appurreciative for everyone who has been supportive of my dojo, where we are training intently for the spurring regional tournyament!
We will be cheering for your banzai victory! We had the enthused crowd with the brisk sales at my magick shop with the entertaining, informative & enlightening activities for the Vernal Equinox! The time has flown and soon we will purrpare for the Summer Solstice events!
So like, when I haven’t been at those events or golfing on the FaerWay, things are totally bustling at our Faerie Grove Ampurrtheatre in the maritime forest, The Repurrtory Company is rehearsing the Shakespearean plays and choreographing our Fox Fire Fiesta, fur shur!
Mary Nyan:
I am very eager to see those new purrductions and to cheer at those sporting events Well, my happy routine has changed little, with teaching the hula students, training the appurrentice mikos at the shrine, and sewing the costumes for the dancers and the cosplayers!
Lizzy and I see Jen and Nya-sensei often, as the yoga studio and dojo are near our spa! I have seen Mie-sensei several times at the golf club too! When we are not pampurring the customers at the spa, Lizzy and I have been gardening, hot salsa dancing and watching DVDs.
Hai hai, we just finished watching the 7th season of Modern Family, so nyow we have to select more DVDs to watch. Hmm aside from the DVDs, dance, spa, garden and our two cats, while Becca is at the golf club, I am out running and spurringing with my purrkour club!
Fire Chief Ellie:
I am happy to report that the only recent big fires that I had to extinguish were the controlled burns at our training sessions! Thusly, when I am not at the office, training or on the patrol, I have been swimming, working out, reading and attending the various cultural events!
I have been in the scuba diving for the sunken relics, cat-aloging and lecturing on the mainland, and returning home here for the leisure time. Another toothy fish tried to nip my tail in the ship wreck, but he is the sushi on the plate for tonight’s AfterMew luau!  Howboutchoo Jamie?
Playing mass Effect: Andromeda! Mike?
Oh, I’ve been spending good times with family and friends; reading watching TV and movies, listening to the radio and CDs, playing some games, staying caught up on my writing and art!, and attending a couple of conventions. Um, since we have a big group and a lot to discuss, I’d like to go ahead and jump into my
convention reports, starting with
the 2017 What The Hell?! Con!
WhatTheHell?! Con is a free little convention at Guilford College in Greensboro NC, sponsored by the nice folks of the Guilford College Yachting Club! I think the con started in maybe back in 2001 or 2002; I’ve attended for the past 11 years and I’ve been honored to be one of the artist guests there since 2008! This year it was held on the sunny clear, weekend of  March 3-5, 2017.
I think the high temperature was in the upper 50’s. There was no web site for this year’s con, so I didn’t know much about the guests, exhibitors, activities or the schedule until registration began that Friday at 5 pm. That was followed by the brief opening ceremony, a few activities and exhibitor set-up. Nevertheless, I was quite glad to be there, and everyone was so very cordial and attentive.
The event was held in the Duke and Dana buildings, with a bit of boffer LARP outdoors, where the flowering trees were already well abloom! Dana’s auditorium is supposedly haunted, but I’m yet to encounter any ghosts there. Maybe next year! There was plenty of free parking beside the buildings, with numerous restaurants, cafes, grocery and convenience stores right across the street.
The other authors, artists & vendors included Meesha DJ Jackson, Marshall Lakes, Redhead Crafts, Cal Hawks / Calcifer Boheme Art & Design, John & Justin Lapoint / Animal Town Confidential, Kieran White / Mogamittens Art, Fabian Hamilton / Happy Candle Shop, Nicole Givens Kurtz / Mocha Memoirs Press, Chance Palmer / Unique Creations, KD Thompson / Snow Bunny Studios, Suzanne Farmer / Mythkin Maille, and an improv comedy troupe!
Although they did not have tables there this year, it was great to see our friends Neesa and Dug again! Thusly there was beautiful original art, prints, buttons, jewelry, trinkets, knitted items, candles and books aplenty for sale! Things resumed around noon on Saturday; the remaining artists & vendors arrived, and the indoor activities included the anime room, bad movie room, video, card and board games, college “iron chef”, and the comedy performance.
Perhaps my favorite thing is just hanging out, chatting with old friends, fellow artists, and new acquaintances! Then we went to the auditorium for the 9 pm Geek Auction, which is the con’s annual main event to benefit the Child’s Play charity. With only 7-8 costumed folks in the auction, maybe a dozen or so in the audience (plus the con staff), and the post-auction dance cancelled due to technical problems, so it wrapped up sooner than expected!
Sadly, they didn’t have any con tee shirts for sale. Things resumed on Sunday from noon ’til 2 pm with fewer folks thereabout, but it was still a serene little gathering with a last bit of conversations, art trades and shopping on a very pretty day! I’d like to thank the Yachting Club, campus employees, my fellow exhibitors and the friends who contributed to the delightful time, and I hope to be there for my 12th time next year!  Next I’d like to say a few words about the
2017 Oak City Comicon!
The Oak City Comicon was a two – day con on the Spring – like weekend of March 18-19th at the Raleigh Convention Center, which is also the home of Animazement these days. The Oak City Comicon is sponsored & staffed by the friendly folks of the three Ultimate Comics shops in our state’s Triangle Area (Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill & other nearby cities), who also purroduce the three – day NC Comicon at the Durham Convention Center in November.
The great guests included Neal Adams, Larry Hama, Darryl “DMC” McDaniels, Ron “The Toxic Avenger” Fabio, Afua Richardson, Tommy Lee Edwards, Chris Ryall, Sam Ellis, Mike Perkins, Steve Niles, Daniel Way, Shelly Bond,  Jeremy Whitley, Brenda Hickey, Tony Fleecs, Ted Adams, and about 15 others! Meesha, Marshall, Mako Fufu, Brian Shearer, Eric Knisley, James Maxey, Tom Fleming, Leigh Will & Jeni Lee were among over 140 brilliant artists in the artists alley!
There were over 180 exhibitors tables or booths, including Action Lab, IDW, Hero Cats’ writer / creator Kyle Puttkamer, numerous indy / small press publishers, comics shops, services and organizations. Past guests of The Mew such as ob1, Pacozord & Chef Ron were among the many dealers there who sold comics, books, toys, collectibles, shirts, costume items, plushies, knitted items, props, decals, cards, jewelry, memorabilia, posters, prints & original art.
The NC Garrison of the 501st, the Carolina Mudcats baseball team, The Collective of Lady Arm Wrestlers (CLAW) and Carolina Rollergirls women’s roller derby team were there. Also on wheels were fan- built replicas of movie / TV autos such as the Back to the Future DeLorean,Transformers’ Bumblebee, Ghostbusters Ecto-1, a Jurassic Park Jeep, and Supernatural’s Impala.
There was a TARDis replica, and the events included the arm wrestling tournament, The Wild Tarney game show, kids’ coloring contest, dozens of discussion panels, Saturday night’s bash and Sunday afternoon’s cosplay parade & contest. The many cosplayers added greatly to the festive ambience, in representing characters from comics, games, anime, other movies & TV, from a cute widdle 7 month old Super Baby to a big impressive, electronic Optimus Prime!
Some of our other favorite costumes were the Malicifett (Malificent / Fett), Mega Man, Power Rangers, Nightwing, Raven, Captain America, Squirrel Girl, and Studio Ghibli characters (e.g. San, Kiki, Tombo) There were numerous ponies & kemonomimi cosplayers, too! I’d like to thank Ultimate Comics, the convention center staff, the guests, artists, exhibitors, sponsors and fellow fans who contributed to the fun! Ah, that’s all for the con reports, and now it’s time for this month’s
Lightning Round topic:
our favorite fun stuff of 1977!
Since May will be the 10th anniversary of The Mew, we are looking back at favorite things from the past decades. Previously we’ve looked back at 2007, 1997 and 1987, so for today we’re looking back at some of our favorite things of 1977! Lizzy will start, so, are y’all ready to “conduct the lightning”?
The Ladies of The Mew:
1977 was the good year for the RPGs such as such as AD&D, the D&D Basic set, Chivalry & Sorcery, Arduin and Traveller; and the board games such as Cosmic Encounter, Ogre, Rail Baron, Imperium, Squad Leader, War of the Ring, and Rummikub! tags Ilyana with a brush of the tail)
That was the same year for the Space War video game and the Lost World pinball machine! There was such the wonderful wave of science fiction & fantasy games, toys, movies, TV shows, comic books, magazines, art books and novels after Star Wars! (tail tags Becca  to go next)
I will second that, and nominate the lovely literature such as J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Sil Marillion, Terry Brooks’s  The Sword of Shannara, Stephen King’s The Shining, Frederick Pohl’s Gateway, Gordon R Dickson’s Timestorm, Jerry Pournelle’s Lucifer’s Hammer, Jeanne and Spider Robinson’s Stardance! (tail-tags Bun)
That was a a great year for comic books such as Elfquest, Cerebus, Heavy Metal, Judge Dredd, Jonah Hex, Spider-Woman, KISS, Star Wars, the first appearance of Dawnstar, the Shi’ar Imperial Guard, and the start of the historic John Byrne, Terry Austin and Chris Clairmont team on X-Men! (tags Mary Nyan)
Mary Nyan:
Speaking of KISS, their Love Gun and Alive II albums are of that vintage, as were Lynard Skynard’s Street Survivors, Pink Floyd’s Animals, Eric Clapton’s Slow Hand, Neil Young’s American Stars ‘n Bars, Billy Joel’s The Stranger, Ted Nugent’s Cat Scratch Fever, Meat Loaf’s Bat out of Hell, and The Clash’s album (tags Mielikki)
I will nominate Steely Dan’s Aja, Kansas’s Point of Know Return, Styx’s The Grand Illusion, The Alan Parsons Project’s I Robot, The Grateful Dead’s Terrapin Station, Jethro Tull’s Songs form the Wood, Yes’s Going for the One, and Electric Light Orchestra’s Out of the Blue, fur shur! (tags Nyanko with a flit if the wing)
Heehee! Mike said that ELO’s Out of the Blue might be his favorite album! I will also nominate Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours, Kraftwerk’s Trans-Europe Express, Donna Summer’s I Remember Yesterday, Pink Lady’s Pepper Keibu, and the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack! (tags her twin sister)
That was a good movie too! 1977 was a supurrb year for movies such as Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger, The island of Doctor Moreau, Annie Hall, The Goodbye Girl, Smokey and the Bandit, Semi Tough, Slap Shot, The Duelists, and The Deep, but my favoritest movie of 1977 was Star Wars! (tags Jeannie)
My top ten favorite films of 1977 are Star Wars, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, The Spy Who Loved Me, A Bridge Too Far, Smokey and the Bandit, Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo, Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger, Wizards, The Hobbit, and Space Battleship Yamato. (tags Tara-chan)
My turn, nya! I want… I want to nominate the animated theatrical and – and TV movies such as The Hobbit, Wizards, Space Battleship Yamato, The Rescuers, Race for Your Life, Charlie Brown, The Easter Bunny is Comin’ to Town, and and the Raggedy Ann movie, nya! Onee-chan’s turn, nya! (tags Yvonne)
Hai hai, Raggedy Ann & Andy: A Musical Adventure is on our DVD Wish List too, nya! In addition to The Hobbit and The Easter Bunny, that was the very good year for the TV shows such as Roots, Fantasy Island, The Love Boat, The Man from Atlantis, CHiPs, Fernwood 2 Night, nya! (tags Trini-chan)
That was the year that Charlie’s Angel’s 2nd season premier tale of “Angels in Paradise” introduced Cheryl Ladd as Kris Monroe, and Saturday Night Live’s 2nd season had the major transitions as Chevy Chase and The Muppets left the show, whilst Bill Murrey joined the cast! (tags Petra)
It was the end of season 14 and the start of season 15 for Doctor Who, starring Tom Baker as The Fourth Doctor in the serials such as The Face of Evil, The Robots of Death, The Talons of Weng-Chiang, Horror of Fang Rock, The Invisible Enemy, Image of the Fendahl, and The Sun Makers, nya! (tags Ellie)
Oh those were very good seasons for Doctor Who which introduced Leela who was portrayed by Louise Jameson and K-9  who was voiced by John Leeson as The Doctor’s new  companions  for that year! Jamie’s turn (tags Jamie)
My kidney transplant, I wouldn’t be here without it! Mike?
Ah, that’s kinda hard to top! Well, I was gonna say that… some of that year’s Star Trek books were Star Trek 12 by James Blish, Star Trek Log 9 by Alan Dean Foster, Planet of Judgement by Joe Haldeman, The Price of the Phoenix by Sondra Marshak & Myrna Culbreth, Letters to Star Trek by Susan Sackett, Meaning in Star Trek by Karin Blair, The Making of the Trek Conventions by Joan Winston, Intergalactic Puzzles by James Razzi, and the Starfleet Medical Reference Manual by Eileen Palastine!
You know, it was November 11th, 1977 when Paramount decided to make Star Trek – The Motion Picture instead of the Star Trek: Phase II TV series- but I promised not to now ramble on about my all-time favorite movie! Well that, was another expedient little Lightning Round, and now here’s Ilyana-sensei to begin the
toy talk portion of The Mew, with her review
of the Marvel Legends Dazzler action figure!
Hai! We like to collect the action figures of strong, inspurrational heroines. We have recently reviewed figures of Marvel’s Spider-Gwen, Silk, Nico, Kitty, Phoenix, Rogue, Ms. Marvel and Angela, and nyow I would like to discuss Hasbro’s figure of the mewtant supurr heroine / singer / actress Alison Blaire A.K.A. Dazzler, who first appurred in The Uncanny X-Men #130 in 1980!
She has the ability to convert sound into light and other energy, which can be used as the weapon against vllains, or as the entertaining display at her concerts! This figure is part of the Warlock build-a-figure wave which also includes Wolverine, Cyclops,  Colossus, Polaris, Sunfire and Shatterstar. Each is sold sepurrately, and includes a piece to build the figure of Warlock!
She is the impurressive sight with her honey blonde hair and Blue face paint, wearing the low – cut sleeveless White jumpsuit with the Blue-wheeled silver roller skates, silver wrist bands and pendant. She is accessorized with the cordless microphone and the multicolor circle of light! The figure is 6 1/2″ tall in the skates, but if she was flat – footed she would be 6 1/8″ tall.
Since she is 5’8″, 115 lbs in the comics, I suppose that the figure is of appurroximately 1/11th scale. She is very well – designed, sculpted and painted with the intricate details of her expurression, face paint, shoulder – length wavy hair, the high collar, her lithe musculature in the skin – tight parts of the jumpsuit, the fabric folds of the flared pant legs, the skates’ trucks & wheels!
The wheels do not spin, but she is very posable with the articulation in her neck, abs, shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, thighs, knees and ankles. The light circle easily clips on to her hand as if she was casting the special FX! A display base is not included, but she can easily stand unassisted, so I am very pleased with this fine figure! Nextly I would like to offer the purraise for
Monster High’s Shipwrecked
Catrine DeMew fashion doll!
We are  fans of Mattel’s Monster High purroduct line of the posable fashion dolls, accessories, other toys, and the books and animations! The characters are the teen student children of creatures such as the vampire, mummy, werewolf, yeti, phantom, Frankenstein, yeti, dragon, ghosts, sea monster, plant monster and others!
The cast includes several were-cat daughters such as Toralei, Catty Noir, Meowla, Purrsephone and Catrine DeMew! Voiced by actress Kate Higgins, Catrine was introduced in the Scaris: City of Frights animated movie and the purroduct line, in which the girls traveled to the city of Scaris for the fashion design compurrtition!
Catrine is 17 years old with the Light Blue eyes, ivory White skin & waves of mid back –  length Pink & Purple hair, the lovely neko ear pinna and tail! There are a few dolls of her, including this recent Shipwrecked version. They are cruising enjoyably aboard the haunted pirate ship, but the search for treasure gets very wet!
She is made of the plastic with the fiber hair & fabric garment, with the cardboard art, the cute sleeveless Purriwinkle Blue mini dress with the Black trim and anchor, stars, mice & songbirds purrint! She is accessorized by the Black beret, silver earring, anchor pendant, Blueberry colored purrse & matching platform sandals!
There are dainty widdle bows to match her Red lips! From the soles of her 1/4″ platform sandals to the tips of her 1/4″ ears she is 11″ tall with the slender curved 7″ tail! Excluding the ear pinna, if she was barefoot she would be 10 1/2″ tall. The points of the articulation are the neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees & tail!
She is purrettily detailed (but not de-tailed) from the cheeky beauty mark and Pink eye shadow & cute kitty nose, to the finely sculpted fingernails, toes & inny belly button! She is not balanced to stand unassisted, so I have to purrchase a doll stand for her, or place her in the seated pose! Nextly I would like to discuss the
Power Rangers Morphin Power
Pink Ranger action figure!
For my first review of of a Power Rangers item, I am pleased to purraise this 7″ tall figure of the latest incarnation of the Pink Ranger! She is one of the heroes in Saban’s recent Power Rangers theatrical movie, which is a reboot / alternate version of the original 1993 Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers TV series.
In the town of Angel Grove, high school students Jason, Trini, Billy, Kimberly and Zack explore the underground where they attain the supurr powers, meet the ancient alien Zordon, his robot assistant Alpha 5 and later acquire the Zord mecha, but this also awakens the villainess Rita whose monsters attack the city!
Kimberly is purrtrayed by actress Naomi Scott, and this figure from Bandai depicts her sleek, futuristic Pink Ranger costume which is Hot Pink with the Black markings & visor. Compurred to most  of the TV series’ Power Rangers, the costume is more textured with the inlays & seams, but it is still quite form – fitting!
Assuming that Kimberly is about 5’6″ tall, then I suppose that this figure is of the 1/9.4ish scale. It is splendidly designed, intricately detailed and purrcisely painted, although five philips head screws are  quite visible on the back side. Compurred to the smaller scale figures of her, this’un is much less posable.
The articulation is only in her neck, shoulders & elbows, so I consider this more as a slighty posable statue, which is fine for my home & office decorating purrposes, because I like to collect statues! She does have a neat effect; if you purress the morpher button on her tummy, a pulsating inner Blue glow alights!
It is the very purretty lighting effect, and I have found the purrominant spot for her upon my desk. I hope that soon a similar Yellow Ranger will be available to join her! That is all for our toy talk, but  nyow Bunnibuns  will continue the Power Rangers topic as she begins our
movie, TV and DVD reviews, with her review of the
Power Rangers S.P.D. – The Complete Series DVD!
Arigato! Power Rangers S.P.D.was the New Zealand / USA  version of the Japanese Dekaranger super sentai series. Set in the future when Earth is populated by many aliens, the Space Patrol Delta (S.P.D). team of colorfully costumed super heroes with amazing skills, powers, gadgets, vehicles, mecha and a robot dog fought the villains of the intergalactic Troobian Empire!
Re-written and edited to combine the original Japanese stunts & FX footage with new actors & scenes shot in New Zealand, the 38 half-hour epurrsodes aired here in the USA in 2005, between Power Rangers: Dino Thunder and Power Rangers: Mystic Force! It was produced by ally Campbell, and executively produced by Koichi Sakamoto, Bruce Kalish and Greg Aronowitz.
It starred Brandon Jay McClaren as Jack the Red Ranger, Monica May as Elizabeth the Yellow Ranger, Chris Violette as Sky the Blue Ranger, Alycia Purrott as Sydney the Pink Ranger, Matt Austin as Bridge the Green  Ranger, John Tui as their commander Doggie Kruger, Kelson Henderson as their technical assistant Boom, and Rene Naufahu as the evil Empurrer Gruuumm!
There were other great actors as the heroes and villains too, however my favorite is Michelle Langston as Dr. Katherine “Kat” Manx, the scientific & technology genius who designed the team’s gadgets & giant Megazord vehicles! She was usually at the headquarters but in episode #29 “Katastrophe” she became temporarily the Cat Ranger to fight the enemies on the beach!
She was a genius, purretty, brave, tough, agile, acrobatic alien catgirl with fierce martial arts prowess, lovely freckles, ears & fangs! Perhaps ya;ll have seen Mike’s fan art of her in our Mewseum http://catgirlisland.net/art/gallery7/75.html? The series was released upon the Region 1 NTSC DVD last month, with the 38 episodes totaling approxmately 12.5 hours on the 5 disks!
It is presented in English language audio only with no subtitles, but it can be watched with the Closed Captions. The epurrsode list is on the inside front cover, and the disks are easily removed from the hinged inner trays. There are no special features, so this is a no – frills package, but it is inexpensive and has the many hours of of thrilling fun!  Nextly I would like to talk about
Arigato! Gosh, it is hard to believe that there have been the 10 movies pertaining to the Marvel Comics’ X-Men and their associates! I guess that Hugh Jackman has appeared as Logan / Wolverine in all of them except for the Deadpool movie, and that Patrick Stewart has appeared as Professor Charles Xavier in all of them except for X-Men: First Class and X-Men: Age of Apocalypse!
Written & directed by James Mangold, this’un is set in the dystopian near – future, in which Logan & Charles are older in worse health, whilst most of the X-Men are legends who have passed away, and younger mutant kids are experimented upon in prison. They meet a young girl named Laura, a clone of Logan called X-23 by the corporate & government villains who she is fleeing from.
Logan & Charles try to get her from Mexico to a sanctuary in Canada, but they are pursued by The Reavers and the Transigen groups, who are aided by another clone of Logan known as X-24! The great cast includes Dafne Keen as Laura, Richard Grant as Transigen’s Dr. Rice, Boyd Holbrook as The Reavers’ leader Pierce, and Stephen Merchant as Logan & Charles’ friend Caliban.
Hugh Jackman also portrays X-24, and Ryan Reynolds portrays Deadpool again in the pre – movie teaser, so don’t be late! I like some of the X-Men movies much more than others, but I was very enthused by the preview trailers for this’un, so I had the optimistic attitude approaching it, and I thought that it was quite the impressive, poignant, bittersweet, X-cellent movie!
It has the good balance of the drama, humor, action, and the myth building, whether it is during the exciting fight & chase scenes, or in the more intimate quieter moments for the characters. It was the very emotional roller coaster for us, full of the grins, gasps, cheers and the tears. It is rated R for the bloody violence and harsh language, so it might not be for the widdle kitties!
My favorite scenes were purrobably the conversational scenes betwixt Logan, Charles & Laura. I will give Logan the grade of an “A” as in Adamantium, and compared to the prior X-Men movies, it is easily amongst my top four, along with Deadpool, First Class, Days of Future Past (especially the Rogue Cut version)! Now here is our web master Jamie to review
Kong: Skull Island!

The trailers for Kong: Skull Island portray the film as an action packed monster movie that doesn’t take itself too seriously and thankfully that’s exactly what it is. Owing more to its Japanese counterparts, Godzilla vs King Kong and King Kong Escapes, Kong: Skull Island is a prequel of sorts to 2014’s Godzilla by Gareth Edwards (Rogue One).

Starring Tom Hiddleston (The Avengers), Brie Larson (Room), John Goodman (Raising Arizona, Rosanne,) Jing Tian (The Great Wall), Shea Wigham (Agent Carter), John C. Reilly (Chicago, Wreck-It Ralph) and Samuel L. Jackson (Pulp Fiction, Django Unchained, The Crazy Eight) and directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts, the film is set in Vietnam era 1973.

Goodman, cast as the film’s version of Carl Denham, believes that monsters exist and hires Hiddleston, an ex British Special Air Service, now tracker, to venture into the south pacific in order to find a mysterious island cut off from the rest of the world. Jackson portrays an embittered Lieutenant Colonel leading the expedition with Brie Larson as a photojournalist along for the ride.

The film wastes little time getting the group of scientists, soldiers and adventurers onto the island and positioned to be chased, eaten, gutted, blown up, and stomped upon. Numerous ‘red shirts’ meet their demise as the main actors run for their lives, joke and generally stand around, making room for the real star of the movie, Kong.

It’s in Kong’s battles with other monsters that the movie finds its zenith. Arguably the best adaptation of the legendary giant ape since the 1933 original, Kong: Skull Island is likely the best CGI giant monster movie ever made. Though lacking in any kind of depth, none is really needed for such pure escapism. Next I’d like to say a few words about

Starring Jake Gyllenhaal (Donnie Darko, Zodiac), Rebecca Ferguson (Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation), Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool) and directed by Daniel Espinosa, LIfe tells the story of what happens when a group of astronauts on the International Space Station (ISS)  start messing around with microscopic alien life
Written by Paul Wernick (Zombieland, Deadpool) Life is an odd little movie in that in some ways it’s very good and in other ways its very bad. LIFE is a good, but all too brief, exploration of a group of characters on the ISS, a very confined space with zero gravity that devolves into a ALIEN copycat with a ‘twist’ ending.
What’s very good are the actors, with Gyllenhaal and Ferguson making the biggest impact, and there are moments that richly deal with the confinement and isolation of residing in space long term.
The ISS looks like the ISS, and it’s very claustrophobic in some cases. What’s very bad is how uneven the movie is and how it wastes such top talent.
Another problem with Life, and nearly every ALIEN copycat movie, is that it doesn’t invest the time needed to fully care about the characters. That’s not to say that LIFE is a total bust. Looking at it as a painless little B-movie that does a lot on so little, it’s impressive enough for an evening rental. Now here is Nyo-sensei to tell us about
Disney’s Moana DVD!
Hai! Disney’s Moana was one of our top 10 favorite movies of last year! It purrtains to the Pacific islander chief’s feisty brave daughter who sails across the ocean to find the mystic relic that will save the dying island, and to coax the demigod Maui to help, but he is reluctant and there are enemies in the way! It was directed by Ron Clements & John Musker, with the voices of Auli’i Cravalho as Moana and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as Maui!
For our review of the beautiful, fun, thrilling animated mewsical movie, please see our December 2016 Mew! We bought the deluxe edition of the soundtrack CD, a posable doll and tree ornament of Moana, and we were quite eager to purrchase the DVD which was released last month! The single disk Region One NTSC standard DVD is in the standard plastic case with the lovely image of Maui, Moana and her pet pig sailing across the wave!
Inside is a brochure with a code for Disney Movie Rewards, but I have not tried to use that yet. The DVD’s main menu screen features some amewsing antics by Moana, Maui and other characters! The PG Rated, appurroximately 107 min. movie is purrsented in the widescreen format of the 2.39:1 aspect ratio in English, Spanish & French 5.1 Dolby Digital audio, English Descriptive 2.0 audio and the optional audio commentary by the directors.
There are 9 choices of optional subtitles, including the commentary subtitles in English, French & Spanish, which are in the very legible, White, bold, sans serif font with the fine Black outline. In addition to the audio commentary, the DVD’s few bonuses are the appurroximately 6.5 min. animated short “Inner Workings” which purroceeded Moana in the theaters, and its 50 sec. introduction by its director Leo Matsuda and purrducer Sean Lurie.
There is a 3 min. mewsic video for the end credits version of the song “How Far I’ll Go” which is sung by Alessa Cora on the beach; and the “Sneak Peeks” include the purreview for Cars 2, and the purreview for the live – action Beauty and the Beast movie, plus the quick widdle ads for Descendants 2, Elena of Avalor, and Disney’s Aulani Resort. I like Elena of Avalor,  and I want to see that Beauty and the Beast! Nextly I would like to discuss the
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them DVD!
We are big fans of the Harry Potter books and movies, so we were very eager to see this  purrequel movie which is set in New York City circa 1926. when wizard / zoologist Newt Scarmander arrives on a mission involving the magical beasts that he cares for, but some of them escape from his suitcase after it was accidentally switched with the suitcase of a friendly muggle named Jacob.
While trying to round up the critters, they befriend witchy sisters Tina and Queenie who are kinder than their MACUSA bosses such as Graves the Auror who has a secret agenda, with a connection to the family Blagrove Family of New Salem witch hunters, and the mysterious entity that has attacked the city! For our review and purraise of the movie, please see the December 2016 Mew!
Thusly I was eager to purrcahse the Region 1 NTSC standard DVD 2 disk set, which includes the 133 min. PG13 rated, feature movie and some ads on disk 1, and over the hour of special features on disk 2! The movie is purrsente din the widescreen format with the spoken lanaguage choices of Dolby Digital Surround English 5.1, English descriptive audio, French  5.1 and Spanish 5.1.
Purrior to the main menu are the anti-smoking PSA, the ad for Harry Potter movies the Lego Batman movie purreview, the ads for the Harry Potter theme parks, and digital movie downloads. The optional subtitles are English SDH, French and Spanish. Disk 2’s special feature are in the English audio with optional subtitle choices of English, French, Chinese, Korean & Thai.
The special features include the multi-part documentary on the making of the movie with comments by many of the cast and crew; and 11 deleted scenes which total about 14.5 minutes, including Major Investigation Dept., Jacob Tenement. Newt’s Case, Macusa Cell, Creocreatura, Tracking Demiguise, Suitcase Celebration, Obscura Part 1, Obscura Part 2, Skyscrapurr Roof, and Newt Goodbye.
The documentary begins with the 15.5 minute “Before Harry Potter: A New Age Begins” featurette; followed by the 24.25 minute look at the characters such as Newt, Tina, Queenie, Jacob, Graves, Seraphina, and the New Salemers. After that is the nearly 18 minute look at the creatures including the Bowtruckle, Demiguise, Erumpent, Niffler, the Occamy, and the Thunderbird!
Finally there is  the 36.5 minute look at the design of the environments, such as New York City, the Macusa headquarters, Newt’s magic case, the Shaw banquet, and The Blond Pig speakeasy club! I wish there was also an audio commentary track for the movie, but those special features are nice, and I am very pleased with this DVD! I am done, and nyow it is the time for
Our Annual DVD Wish List!

the Celebrity Catgirl Spotlight!
Hai! In this portion of The Mew, we wish to honor famous catgirls of the various media! Such ladies might range from the ailuranthropic and the anthropomorphic feline females, to those who might not actually have any kitty DNA, but do have the lovely cat-titude and / or style to be considered as “honorary catgirls”!
Nyow the spotlight shines upon Stella, a catgirl from Saturn who is an exotic dancer and purrostitute at the Cat’s Meow gentlmen’s club, which is in a domed colony town on the Earth’s Moon in the Moonbeams & Stardust novella series which is published by Mocha Memoirs Press http://mochamemoirspress.com
The Moonbeams & Stardust series is written by Raelynn Blue http://raelynnblue.blogspot.com, an author of the erotic, interracial and the speculative romance fiction tales which are excellent and captivating, but they are not for the widdle kitties, due to the language, violence and steamy sexuality, mew la la!
The tales are set in the dismal future sometime after the 5th World War, when citizenship is for the purrivileged, the planets have been colonized, their alien species and soccer teams are amongst the population and the colonies which are at war, with the combat looming closer and closer to the Cat’s Meow.
In the book Star’s Seduction, Stella is the oldest of six girls at the club which is owned by Eddie the bartender and managed by Darius the evil, exploitive pimp. Poor girls on The Moon find the lurid job at the club to be at least purrferable to the alternative to being cold, hungry and abused on the mean streets.
She is furry with the whiskers, purrehensile tail, Chartreuse cat-like eyes, and long Amethyst-painted nails. She can be alluring, flirty, snippy, jealous and bossy! She wears the belt and thong when she meets Star, the new dancer who has a 2nd job as a waitress and hopes of affording the return trip to Earth.
Star and a smitten customer named Jackson are the tale’s purrotagonists. Another Saturnian catgirl dancer named Terry is briefly mentioned as being tone deaf with long Blonde hair. Stella later appurrs in the book Halo’s Heart, in which other Saturnians are mentioned as having Chartreuse and Azure hair.
She is further described as having the forked tongue, White furry arms, White dyed Canary Yellow hair, and eyes changed to a Mustard color. She gets frisky with Kai, the technician who works for Halo, a former dancer who owns the Black Box Bistro which has VR sim pods for the customers’ entertainments.
Halo & Kai are the purrotagonists in the triangle with Stella, who does not like Halo. The bistro’s custodian Belle noted that Stella clawed one of the seats! Star’s Seduction was edited by Gail Simmons; and both books were purroofread by Novellette White with the cover art by Nicole Kurtz, who we met at What The Hell?! Con!
She is an author known for her Cybil Lewis cyberpunk novels, and I am reading The Soul Cages, which is the first of her Minister Knight fantasy novels! I hope to read more of the Moonbeams & Stardust books, That is all for the spotlight, and nyow here is Tara-chan to purrsent the
pony reports!
Arigato, nya! I love the My Little Pony TV series, movies, toys, cards, books and – and the comic books, nya! March was the plentiful pony month for us, between the pony publisher writers and- and artists that we met at the Oak City Con such as  Jeremy Whitley, Ted Adams, Brenda Hicks, and – and Tony Fleecs, nya! We got some lovely pony purrints, a sketch book, and – and saw several pony cosplayers there too, nya! We have also purrchased several pony publications that Trini-chan, onee-chan and – and I would like to discuss, starting with the
My Little Pony: The Dragons on Dazzle island, nya!
I purrdicted that I would love this beautiful story book by Mary Jane Begin, who purreviously authored the My Little Pony: Under the Sparkling Sea story book and – and the My Little Pony: The Art of Equestria book which we have purreviously highly purraised, nya! The plot purrtains to the ponies search for the purretty gems at the island where they help to hatch the local dragon eggs, nya!
Published by Little, Brown and Company, the 11.25″ x 9.25″ hardcover is purriced $15.99; with the 34 full color pages, The interior art includes the 9 two – page spurreads, 6 full page pics, and the 5 smaller pics plus the  lovely borders, nya! The Barnes & Noble exclusive’s dust jacket has the 11.25″ x 26.25″ poster on the reverse, which is is the same art as the case’s wraparound cover art, nya!
I have been debating whether or not to put the poster my wall, nya. Back to the plot, after Rarity learns that her shipment of fashionable gemstones has been cancelled due to the dragon’s migratory situation on Dazzle island, she convenes with Twilight Sparkle, Pinkie Pie, Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy and – and Spike at the Castle of Friendship to discuss the purrdicament, nya.
Fluttershy and- and Spike sail aboard the Windhorse ship to the island, which is amidst the unmewsually colder weather due to the purrturbed spurrits, nya. The cold has affected the purrotected dragon eggs which need the warmth in order to hatch. nya. After they meet  the dragons, and – and the island ponies Blue Topaz and –  and Ruby Redheart, the rest of the ponies arrive, nya!!
Then it is the mission of Fluttershy, Spike, Rarity, Twilight Sparkle, Pinkie Pie, Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Rarity, Blue Topaz and – and Ruby Redheart to give the warm loving hugs to the eggs so that they will hatch, nya! I love the charming plot and – and the exquisite illustrated ponies, dragons and – and scenery, so I will give this book the “A” as in Alucorn, nya! Nextly I would like to discuss the
My Little Pony magazine, nya!
Published by Topix Media Lab, this #1 special is 8″ x 10.5″, purriced $9.99, and has the 76 full color pages including the covers and – and the 4 pages of ads, plus the bonus 10″ x 15.25″ double – sided fold – out poster, with the mane six ponies on one side, and – and the Equestria map on the other side, nya! I definitely have more pony posters, nya!
The magazine is brimming with the illustrations, including several full – page pics, several two – page spurreads, and – and the fun activities, nya! After the brief purrofiles of Fluttershy, Spike, Rarity, Twilight Sparkle, Pinkie Pie, Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Celestia and – and Luna, there are various arts, crafts, quizzes and- and puzzles aplenty, nya!
They include name the pony, mane match, cutie mark match, trivia questions, purrsonality quiz, the maze, connect the dots, word find, word scramble, spot the differences, pages to color,  fun purrojects, and – and the announcement about the next pony movie which will be in the theaters in October, nya! I want… I want to be there for the first screening, nya! I am done, so nyow here is onee-chan to discuss
My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic #51 & 52, nya!
Arigato, nya! it is hard to believe that has been over 4 years since IDW started to publish these pony comic book, nya. Issue #51 is purriced at $3.99, with the uninterrupted 20 page tale followed by the 12 pages of ads, nya. I wish all other publishers placed the ads after the tales, nya!
It was written by James Asmus, illustrated by Tony Fleecs, colored by Heather Breckel, lettered by Neil Uyetake, edited by Bobby Curnow, and published by Ted Adams, nya! It has the choice of the 4 different covers : the regular cover by Tony, the subscription cover by Sara Richard, the retailer incentive cover by Nicoletta Baldari, and the variant of Tony’s cover art, nya.
This tale is the 1st chapter of the new story arc, which begins on the beautiful evening as Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, Applejack, Rarity, Pinkie Pie, Twilight Sparkle &Spike walk home after seeing the theatrical play of The Bridle of Frankenstag, which has caused the spooky shivers, nya! Things become more alarming when Twilight Sparkle & Spike encounter a book thief at her castle, nya!
Thusly the other ponies have the sleep over at the castle to cheer her up, nya! Later they track the cloaked enemy unicorn culpurrit named Shadow Lock to another village, where they visit the saloon, candy store, and magic shop for clues, nya. They confront  the culpurrit in the library, but he has a magickal attack that does not bode well for the ponies or the books, nya!
The compurrisitons are very impurressive, with the fascinating angles, purrspectives and, and Pinkie Pie’s “party in a party” is especially dazzling, nya! In addition to Shadowlock, other characters include Cauldron Bubbles the magick shop purropurrietor unicorn, and Buffy the Buffalo who Applejack hoofwrestles whilst the other saloon customers are rather smitten with Fluttershy, nya!
Issue #52 has the same publishing information and credits, except that there are 3 different covers : the regular cover by Tony, the subscription cover by Sara Richard, and the retailer incentive cover by Valentina Pinto! It was such the touch choice, but I picked Sara’s cover which depicts Applejack & Twilight Sparkle exploring the pony island monoliths, nya!
In the 2nd chapter of the tale, the mane six ponies & Spike are attacked by the literary creatures that Shadow Lock has summoned such as the Cyclops-Clops from the ancient Ponyssseus myths, the horrors from the H. Pony Lovecraft novel, the widdle Green Marshans and Frankenstag’s monster, whilst Shadow Lock continues to erase more of the books, nya!
After the battle that unfortunately trashes the library, the heroes return to Ponyville and split up where Fluttershy & Applejack try to purrotect the books in Cheerliee-sensei’s school, nya! The young pony students are so adorable cute and it is fun to try to identify them all, but soon another literary creature trashes the classroom, as Shadow Lock’s crime spurree continues, nya!
Rarity & Pinkie Pie try to defend Canterlot’s newspapurr office from the attack, whilst Rainbow Dash & Twilight Sparkle try to defend the Colonial Whinneesburg historic site, nya! They all regroup at the mewseum which they purrdict will be the next target, nya. It looks like so much fun to camp with the sleeping bags inside the mewseum, but the campurrs’ slumber is indeed besieged, nya!
The situation is rather dire, but there are zany scenes with amewsing dialogue, nya! The characters, scenery, fonts and FX are beautifully rendered, with richly vibrant colors and the animation cel – like shading; the magickal FX are so luminous and the scenery is lavishly detailed, and so I will give both of those issues the high purraise, nya! Nyow I will tag Trini-chan, who will tell us about the
My Little Pony Deviations, nya!
Arigato! IDW published “Deviations” issues of their titles, which ponder the alternate timelines, and this 40 page one-shot priced $4.99 imagines what might have happened if Princess Celestia had chosen Prince Blueblood instead of Twilight Sparkle as her protege. It even includes a variation of the animated TV series’s opening song sequence!
The uninterrupted 22 page was written by Katie Cook, illustrated by Agnes Garbowska, assistantly colored by Lauren Perry, lettered by Christa Miesner, edited by Bobby, published by Ted, and it is available in the choice of 3 different covers. the regular cover by Agnes, the subscription cover by Katie, and the retailer incentive cover by Sara Richard.
It was the tough decision because they are all lovely, but I picked Katie’s cover which depicts Pinkie Pie and her pet gator Gumby in their Judge Dredd uniforms with the cake frosting gun! Now that would be another amewsing alternate reality! Come to think of it, Prince Blueblood might have worse social skills than Judge Dredd does, but I digress.
Prince Blueblood’s charm, so to speak, lies in his vain, narcissistic, pompous and lazy disposition. Fluttershy, Rarity, Pinkie Pie, Applejack, Rainbow Dash are not impressed when he is sent to Ponyville to assist with their Summer Sun festival, which is attacked by Nightmare Moon, who is ironically a more sympathetic character than the prince!
It is fun to try to identify the background ponies, who he couldn’t care less about, and the only one he does seem to care for is is dog named Bunny, which cleverly results in a Hudson Hawk reference! However, in the 2 page coda by Katie when Blueblood and Bunny find themselves alone on The Moon, Bunny is expected to do all the work!
I especially like the great pony details, poses, and expurressions! After the beautiful, fun tale is the credits page, Katie’s comments page, the 4 page look at the comics’ process from the script and inked art to the coloring and lettering; and then the 10 pages of the ads. Now to top off our pony report, I would like to say the few words about the
My Little Pony Annual 2017!
This issue is priced $7.99, and has the uninterrupted 48 page tale written by Jeremy Whitley &  Christina Rice, illustrated by Andy Price, Tony Fleecs & Jay Fosgitt, colored by Heather Breckel, lettered by Neil Uyetake, edited by Bobby and published by Ted, with the regular cover by Andy and the subscription cover by Jay!
It begins in the “Shadow Bolts” chapter by Jeremy & Andy, in which Rainbow Dash & Tank the turtle are visiting Fluttershy & Angel the bunny, when Applejack announces that army of Changelings have attacked the Crystal Empire, so Rainbow Dash eagerly flies to the rescue, but she is ambushed by the Shadow Bolt ponies!
Then in the “Pinkie Pie” chapter by Christina & Tony, Twilight Sparkle and Cheese Sandwich try to secretly discuss the surprise birthday party for Pinkie Pie who suddenly shows up, but then so do the Changelings! Fortunately, Pinkie Pie and Cheese Sandwich just happen to have their party cannons  for the merrily retaliation!
The Changeling attack upon the Crystal Empire is underway in the “Shining Armor” chapter by Jeremy & Tony, starring Shining Armor & Princess Cadance, plus projected images of Fluttershy and Princess Amore, whilst the titular stallion searches the palace’s library & caverns for a magickal potion to use against the invaders!
Fighting the Changelings is tricky because they can impersonate friends, but in the “Twilight Sparkle” chapter by Jeremy & Andy, Twilight Sparkle & Spike are helped by Sweetie Drops & Lyra Heartstrings, and in the Castle of Friendship they find the Armor of Friendship to use in the battle! There are background ponies too!
Celestia, Luna Fluttershy, Tank and a kitty briefly appear In the “Wonder Bolts” chapter by Jeremy & Jay, in which The Wonderbolts aerial team comprised of Soarin’, Fleetfoot, Firestreak, Mistyfly, Surprise, HighWinds and their leader Spitfire use their new Sonic Gliders to expedite their long flight to defend the Crystal Empire!
The tale climaxes in the “Big Spike” chapter by Christina & Jay, as Shining Armor arrives in Ponyville with the potion to assist the mane six ponies. They wear the Friendship Armor as the potion enlarges Spike to the giant size to battle the Changelings! I have already revealed much of the plot, but I will not spoil the ending!
With that many characters & locations, the beautiful poses, expressions, details, FX, panel compositions, dialogue, coloring & lettering at the excellent pace, thanks to the comic’s great creative team, I think that this annual was much more than 20% cooler! That will conclude our pony report, and now here is Ellie to continue
more comic book reports, with her
review of The Unstoppable Wasp #3!
Hai hai! This is one of our new favorite comics! The tale stars Nadia Pym, the orphaned Hungarian genius daughter of Hank (Ant Man) & Maria Pym! She first apeared in The Avengers Civil War II Free Comic Book Day issue in May of 2016, so she has only been around the comics for the year! After that she appeared in All-New All-Different Avengers #9, and in some of the subsequent issues written by Mark Waid!
They have been reprinted in the trade paperback, so they are very accessible. Nadia was trained in a secret Russian Red Room research facility, where she invented her own Wasp costume and escaped! Edwin Jarvis the Avengers’ Butler has been helping her get settled, and she got to meet her step mom  Janet Van Dyne, who is Hank’s 2nd wife, a dear friend of Jarvis, and the first super heroine known as The Wasp!
They are very proud of Nadia as the latest Wasp! She is so peppy, ingenious, heroic and stylish with the lovely accent and cute house in suburban Cresskill, NJ! Unfortunately she still has the legal citizenship paperwork to settle, and several Russian agents including her friend Ying have been sent to take her back to Russia. Then Nadia got her own wonderful series, the first issue of which had several variant covers!
Whilst learning more about the USA, she is still waiting for her American citizenship to be finalized. Nadia’s home is cluttered with many wonderful gadgets and her dad’s projects, and she has such cute outfits too! She is determined to impress the other super heroines who have greatly inspired her, whilst starting the G.I.R.L. (Genius in Action Research Labs) group for the genius heroines who might impurrove the world!
In issue #1 she teamed up with Ms. Marvel and Mockingbird to battle the villainess Monica Rappaccini and her giant robot! Then in issue #2 she was chaperoned by Jarvis to recruit geniuses Lunella Lafayette, Alexis and Tania Miranda to her group. The Mirandas are enthused about the prospect of well –  stocked and funded work with Nadia! Then she and Lunella had to fight the giant – sized rat our on the street!
Published by Marvel, rated “T+” and priced at $3.99, issue #3 has the 20 page tale, the recap / credits page, the preview page for issue #4, the Agents of G.I.R.L. page in which Nadia intermews two engineer / cosplayer girls, and the 5 pages of advertisements. The tale was written by Jeremy Whitely, illustrated by Elsa Charretier, colored by Megan Wilson, lettered by Joe Caramanga, edited by Alena Smith and Tom Brevoort!
The main cover art is by Nicolas Bannister and Elsa, and the variant cover art is by Paulina Ganucheau! Nadia has he reunion with her friend Ying, and enlarges a raccoon to the troublesome giant size, but fortunately Lunella’s T-Rex pal Devil Dinosaur arrives to deal with the critter! in the rather amusing skirmish! Later Nadia is quite happy to get a new phone and she happily sings the cute new phone song!
She chats with her step mom Janet Van Dyne, who is Hank’s 2nd wife, a dear friend of Jarvis, and the first supurr heroine known as The Wasp! Nadia previously met Janet last Summer, in issues of the All-New All-Different Avengers comics. Nadia is so optimistic, smart, stylish and brave with the lovely dialect, but then she misses her important legal citizenship meeting with her lawyer Matt Murdock (alias Daredevil)!
She tries to recruit more cool sciencey girls such as Amber who has the beautiful tattoos, piercings and coiffure; and Lashaya who has the amusing scene with her dad! Nadia then tries to recruit Priya who not only has the peer pressure purroblems, but her problems are com-pounded when the villainess named PoundCakes threatens Priya’s mom at the store, but will not further spoil the taste of the plot!
I will just add that I think it is the very fun, beautiful tale of the strongly written, strong, busy, smart heroines, which is peppered by “Nadia’s Neat Science Facts”, and topped off by the her widdle interviews, this time with applications engineer / cosplayer Sadie Geerligs and aerospace engineer / cosplayer Nia Jetter, who discuss their exciting work, hobbies, and their own inspirational heroines!
Jeremy has such the superb knack for strongly writing the fun tales of the diverse, strong, smart, brave heroines, from the pony comics to his own Princeless series, its spin-off series of Raven the Pirate Princess, and I will give The Unstoppable Wasp an “A” as in Ant Man! Now for a review of another Marvel-ous super heroine that we love, I will turn The Mew over to Becca, who wants to tell us about
Patsy Walker, A.K.A. HellCat! #16!
hai! Patsy is one of our favoritest supurr heroines, and her series has been one of our favoritest comics of the past year or so, during which she started a hero job agency and became roommates with Ian who dates Tom, whose bookstore sells the Patsy Walker comic books that were authored by her estranged mom. Unfortunately Patsy’s frenemy Hedy used to have the rights to those comics!
Whilst Patsy’s best friend Jennifer A.K.A. She-Hulk was comatose in the hospital after the fight with Thanos, Jubilee has helped at the office, where they trained former villain Bailey, A.K.A. Attache whose magickal purrse which is bigger on the inside than the outside. Patsy has continued to suffer more trouble from not just Hedy, but also Damian Hellstrom and mad Dog who are patsy’s ex husbands!
Patsy and her friends were pounced upon by The Black Cat gang led by Felicia Hardy, who used purrloined magickal claws to control her victims’ minds! Felicia was thwarted and the friends were freed, but Patsy caught the magickal cold with the cat-astrophic, transformative effects when she sneezes! During the office party it affected Jubilee, Bailey, America, Ian, Sharon and Patsy’s plushy tiger doll Mr. Sniffles!
Then she made the entire building vanish, which brings us to issue #16, which is rated T for the teen readers. It is purriced at $3.99 and includes the 20 page tale, the recap / credits page, 2 pages of  the author & readers’ comments and the 5 pages of the ads. The tale was written by Kate Leth, illustrated by Brittney Williams, lettered by Clayton Cowles, and colored by Rachelle Rosenberg!
It was edited by Kathleen Wisneski, supurrvisingly edited Jake Thomas, executively edited by Tom Brevoort, and the front cover art by Brittney happily depicts Patsy at the pajama party with Tom, Ian, Bailey, Sharon, Jubilee, her son Shogo, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, their daughter Danielle, Brunnhilde the Valkyrie, Howard the Duck and Tara Tam! I hope that other friends will arrive soon!
America recently got her very own series! Sharon, Bailey, Jubilee, America and Patsy are purrturbed about the building, so the last thing that Patsy would want is the phone call from Hedy, whose dog was transformed into Mr. Sniffles! Furthermore, they discover that Hedy has been dating Belial the demon, who she met back when Damian Hellstrom briefly banished her to Hell!
Hedy & Belial are nyow the romantic couple who are sorry for how they purreviously mistreated Patsy, who learns that she is ailing from the Pan Dimensional Stress Flu due to her interdimensional excursions which put the Hell in the HellCat! As for what happens next, I should not further spoil the taste of the plot, which has further amewsing, surpurrising, tearful and poignant moments!
Nennifer is involved… somewhat! Dr. Strange and Mad Dog are mentioned but do not appurr in this issue. Speaking of the amewsing, surpurrising, tearful and poignant moments, the comments pages include the delightful letters and photos from the fans, but the very grateful author Kate bears the sad mews that this wonderful series has been cancelled and will conclude with issue #17.
(sigh). Sadly there seems to be the cancellation curse upon many of our favorite titles of recent years such as Avengers Academy, Fearless Defenders, Gotham City Sirens, Zatanna, Power Girl, Starfire and Critter…. but I digress. This supurrb series has consistently, joyfully entertained us with its beautifully written & illustrated characters, tales, purrogressive cat-itudes & cute kitty motifs.
I will give this issue the high purraise grade of an “A” as in Patsy’s pegasus friend Aragorn, who we hope was able to attend the cat’s pajamas party, and we wish to most heartily thank the cats and crew of of Patsy Walker, A.K.A. Hellcat – domo arigato gozaimasu. By the way, Hellcat recently appurred in Hulk #3, for a bittersweetly awkward reunion with the awakened, somewhat estranged Jennifer.
However, I am not sure when that occurs compurred to this series. Furthermore, HellCat also recently one of the many many variant covers of U.S.Avengers #1. Tigra and White Tiger had such covers too, but I digress, so… nyow here is Myayr to tell us about another great comic book that Brittney Williams illustrated the first 8 issues of-
Goldie Vance #10.
Mary Nyan:
Arigato! 16 year old Marigold “Goldie” Vance is a peppy, brave, smart, inquisitive, aspiring detective girl of color in the mid 1960’s who assists Walter the detective at the Crossed Palms Resort in St. Pascal, Florida, when she is not valet parking the guests’ cars with her friend Rob, who wants to date Cheryl the resort’s concierge who aspires to be an astronaut!
Goldie’s mom Sylvie is an underwater purrformer at a mermaid – themed supper club, and she is sepurrrated from Goldie’s dad, who is the manager of the resort, which is owned by the wealthy Mr. Maple, whose daughter Sugar does not get along with Goldie, but Skunk the street racer seems interest edin those ladies, who are both rather fond of fine fast cars!
The lovely early 60’s cars, coiffures and couture amidst the south Florida scenery & weather during the space – race era are so lovely! Some other recurring characters have included Walter’s girl friend FBI agent Ladner, Skunk the street racer, Cheryl’s friend Millie the pageant winner / astronaut trainee, and Millie’s mom the fashion designer / boutique owner!
One of my favorite characters is Goldie’s friend Diane who works at the record store! Initially a 4 issue mini – series, this ongoing series is published by Boom! Box who also publishes Lumberjanes! The story arc  of issues #1 – #4 purrrtained to the mysterious medallion & Russian spies; whilst the story arc of issues #5 – #8 purrtained to the undersea mystery!
In issue #9 the current story arc began, in which Sugar hired Goldie to investigate the race car sabotage! It is written by Hope Larson & Jackie Ball, illustrated by Noah Hayes, colored by Sarah Stern, lettered by Jim Campbell, edited by Dafna Plebon & Shannon Watters, and assoociately edited by Sophie Phillips-Roberts, with the design by Jillian Crab!
Issue #10, has the uninterrupted 22 page tale, Shannon’s cordial editorial page with cute widdle doodles by Katy Farina, the 5 pages of ads, and  they are all sammiched betwixt the wraparound cover art by Nnekoa Myers! Goldie joins the all-girl pit crew for Sugar’s shiny Pink & White P1 race car the Maple’s Leaf at the exciting St. Pascal Speedway!
The other 7 girls include Meredith, Pops &  Minny the crew chief; and when Goldie is not quickly changing the tires, she and Diane tail the suspected saboteur, while Cheryl researches chemical clues! There is dangerous mystery, but It is a fun time for Goldie who indulges her love of cars & detective work, with the purromise of her own car for helping Sugar!
This was another wonderful issue with the captivating characters, dialogue & developments at the good pace! The characters, cars & scenic art are as gorgeous as gorgeous can be, with the peppy sporty ambience, the manga – inspired style, bright colors, the cel-type shading, the great graphic FX and fonts! I am purrticularly fond of the poses & expurressions!
There are some especially charming moments, as Goldie daydreams of winning the race, her starry-eyed gaze upon the Maple’s Leaf, her delightful scenes with Diane, and the pit crew montage! I will give this issue an “A” as in automobile, and my anticipation for the next issue! Nyow we will go from the early 60’s race girls to the contempurrary girl band in
Josie and the Pussycats vol. 2 #5!
Mary Nyan:
Between the Riverdale TV series and the rebooted comic book series It has been the great year for the tales of Josie, Valerie & Melody! However, in both cases it has been the struggle for them to balance the camaraderie, style & mewsic with angsty, dangers & hard work! The TV versions are teen high school students amidst the dark mysterious drama of the town, whilst the comics versions are in their 20’s on the world tour with cartoon physics, meta-fictional comments & fourth-walls broken along the way!
Since the formation of the band in Issue #1, they have adopted a kitty, purrformed at a benefit for the animal shelter, met Alan Mayberry the mewsic purrducer, rode across the country in an RV, had trouble at a biker punk road house, raced 4×4 vehicles across the desert, played at a beach party, thwarted animal smugglers, had a Jetski chase, thwarted jewel thieves, had the gig in Rome where the romance did not kindle betwixt Josie and Alan, and have endured the schemes of Josie’s rival Alexandra!
In issue #5 in they have a gig at a state fair amidst Josie’s purranoia about another mewsician! It is purriced $3.99 and its 32 pages include the uninterrupted 20 page tale, the cover gallery page, purreview page, the 6 page Riverdale guide, and 4 pages of ads. The tale was written by Marguerite Bennet & Cameron Deordio, illustrated by Audrey Mok, colored by Kelly Fitzpatrick, lettered by Jack Morelli, edited by Alex Segura & Mike Pellerito, associately edited by Stephen Oswald, and assistantly edited by Jamie Lee Rotante!
Marguerite also writes the DC Bombshells comics! The issue is available in 3 different covers, which are cover A by Audrey, cover B by Asami Matsumura and cover C by Jenn St. Onge! After the break-up with Alan, the repurrcutions are that Josie’s heart and ego are as hurt as her cracked smart phone. This melt down does not help the band’s trepurrdation about attempting to play the  country mewsic at the fair, but they hope that the huge star Cheri Overwood will be impurressed enough to record with them.
Unfortunately, the Pussycats follow the opening act of a widdle girl named Felicity whose magnificent voice is the show stoppurr that Cheri fixates upon and postpones the Pussycats’ purrformance!  Thusly, Melody tries to cheer up Valerie, who is annoyed with Josie, who sadly starts acting more like Alexandra, in wanting to plot against Felicity! I should not reveal too much more of the plot, but it does take the unexpected twists due to some happy feline intervention and the unfortunate arrival of Alexander Cabot!
I thought that the plot was terrific with the great pace, continuity, eccentric dialogue and character development! The panels purropell the narrative with some interesting graphic techniques such as the overlapping panels, borderless panels, wide panorama, dreamlike imagery, and the climactic full-page pic! The characters are beautifully drawn with the great fashions, poses, expurressions & minute details from the earrings, hair braids & twisty straws to the kitty plushy purrizes and the calico coat of the real kitty!
I love the leopurrd purrint Pussycat costumes with the ear pinna and tails! Cheri is fabulous, and Felicity is adorably cute! The scenery is intricate with the tents, rides, booths and vehicles, and I purrticularly liked the use of color and light, which conveys the passage of time from day to night! The type is supurrb too, with the various fonts and attributes to purrfectly convey the dialogue, the narrative, text messages, hand writing, signs and sound FX! I am done, so nyow here is Nya-sensei to tell us about
The Hunters of Salamanstra #2 & 3!
Hai! The Hunters of Salamanstra http://salamanstra.keenspot.com began in 2014 as a web comic by creator/ artist/ writer John Joseco, editor Memj & assistant editor Calpain which stars numerous kemonomimi characters! The tale purrtains to Kessah Orlianne, a feisty 19 year old swordswoman of the Canae species with the lovely ears, tail, petite fangs & Lavender hair!
She becomes a purrofessional monster huntress after the death of her older sister Dianna, a legendary monster hunter who appurrs in the flashbacks & dreams. Published by Keenspot, the Black & White comic book is written & drawn by John, edited by Jennifer McGregor & Calpain, with the cover color by Bernie Joseco. Dianna’s tragic fate was chronicled in issue #0.
In issue #1 (which I suppose was technically the 2nd issue) Diana’s comrade Adrien told Kessah about the career and death of her sister. After a delicious suppurr followed by sad memories & dreams, an assassin invaded Kessah’s charming cottage in the forest..Kessah escaped and Adrien stopped the assassin but sadly the home was destroyed during the battle.
In issue #2, Adrien (who is revealed to be a cyborg), and homeless Kessah briefly recupurrate at a hotel and then travel by train to the airport, where they board an airship bound for hunters guild that Kessah intends to join, despite having more bad dreams about Dianna. Issue #3 begins in the happier spirits, with Kessah quite gung ho, enjoying the air travel and meal.
During the dinner conversation, she tells Adrien of how years ago she was inspired to be a hunter after meeting one named Chyanne, but then the ship is attacked by a gigantic monster. Severe damage, panic and casualties ensue as Kessah and Adrien are jettisoned in an escape pod… but will they safely land, or plummet into the dark chasm where monsters dwell?
Issues #2 & 3 are each purriced at $3.99 and include the uninterrupted Black & White 36 page chapters and choice of 2 full color covers. The bittersweet tale is a thrilling emotional roller coaster between the sad, scary, cute ‘n peppy moments for the determined wolf girl. However, there are some intense, violent, gory & tragic scenes that are not for the widdle kitties!
The art is quite lovely, from the characters, mecha & graphics to the landscapes, architecture & monsters. We are captivated by the plot with the great dialogue, the mythology, the world- building, we are cheering for poor Kessah’s success, and eagerly anticipating the next issue!  That is all for my comic book reports, so nyow we will go from the huntress to the slayer in
Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Season 11 #5!
We have greatly enjoyed Dark Horse Comics’s Buffy seasons 8-10, Angel seasons 9 & 10 and the Fray mini series! Season 11 has thusly far been off to the very entertaining yet alarming start, because after a monstrous disaster, things have worsened due to the hate mobs and the oppurressive government, which has diminished civil rights and brought back internment camps.
Purreviously, Andrew decided to leave the country, when the government decided to suspend the rights and to register all magickal people. Buffy, Willow & Spike fought the hate mobs, whilst the government tried to coerce Buffy & Willow into the thuggish servitude. Dawn & Xander are still free, but Giles has to go back to school – not as a teacher, but as an 8th grade student!
Buffy has encounters with Jordan the deputized rival slayer. Spike’s San Francisco police badge has been revoked, and he has been ordered to the camps in the harsh desert. Buffy joins him whilst Willow considers the government job offer, so that she can be of some beneficial influence, since Buffy, Spike & her coven are in the camps full of violence, but are low on food & water.
Executively purrduced by Buffy’s creator Joss Whedon, issue #5 is purriced at $3.99 and has the uninterrupted 22 page tale plus the page of comments, the 5 page purreview of The Once and Future Queen series, and the cute ad for the Henchgirl comics. Part 5 was scripted by Christos Gage, pencilled by Georges Jeanty, inked by Dexter Vines, and colored by Dan Jackson!
It was lettered by Richard Starkings & Jimmy Betancourt, edited by Freddye Miller and assistantly edited by Kevin Baurkhalter; the graphic designer was Justin Couch, the digital art technician was Christianne Goudreau and Mike Richardson is the publisher at Dark Horse! The main cover art is by Steve Morris, and the variant cover is by Georges, Dexter, Dan, Christos & Comicraft.
Some weeks have gone by since the disaster in San Francisco, and Buffy is a trustee in the camp, hoping to be the peacemaker for the purrisoners’ benefit, but she still gets into the deadly brawls with fellow inmates. Willow has to make the heartbreaking decisions at the government’s behest, and purrsuade her Wiccan friends to cease casting spells lest they wind up in purrison,
Riots & escape attempts result in more cannon fodder for the guards, more brawls for Buffy who is currently the queen of the yard, more injuries & fatalities for the inmates who have been put to labor for the government. Spike, Willow & Buffy make the startling discovery about the labors & secret restricted areas, whilst an enemy ogre plots the assassinate coup against Buffy!
As mewsual there are the fascinating developments, great dialogue and action aplenty, with the great portraitures, expurressions, poses, clothing, scenery, FX, colors, fonts and the graphic narrative across the panels, so I will give it an A as in Angel, although we are still not sure as to when it occurs compurred Angel Season 11! Nyow here is Mie-sensei to begin our
manga mewsings,
with her review of Today’s Cerberus vol. 2!
Hai! So like, Today’s Cerberus by Ato Sakurai stars the famous legendary three – headed dog Cerberus who guards the entrance to hades in Greek mythology. Years ago, she bit a boy named Chiaki, thus vanquishing part of hi soul, which has left him like totally rather lonely & sullen, with the side effect of attracting other lonely spirit folks.
Years later, as a 15 year old high school student Chiaki is revisited by Cerberus in her cute human dog girl version which is physically manifested in three distinct personas: Kuro the peppy cute girl, Shirogane the feisty tough girl, and Roza the quiet shy girl. If one’s tail is tugged like a lamp chain, she will transform into one of the other personas!
So like, they want to be helpful, but it has been difficult for Chiaki’s friend Hinata, a miko maiden with romantic feelings for him, whilst Kuro, Roze & Shirogane try adjust to their new identities as the school girls, especially when playing, eating & napping is more fun than studying! However, there are some dangerous moments as other spirits arrive!
Fortunately, some of them just want to be friends, such as Hako the nekomata catgirl and her master Idora who is a classmate of Chiaki and the girls! This charmingly whimsical occult manga was riginally published by Square Enix  in Japan as Today’s Kerberos. It is published in English by Yen Press, which has published many other titles we like-
such as Spice & Wolf, Omamori Himari, Sunshine Sketch, GA: Geijutsuka Art Design Class, and K-On! Volume 2  has 196 pages of Black & White manga plus 2 color pages & covers. It is priced at $13.00 in the USA & $17.00 in Canada, rated T for  teen readers due to the language & violence, translated by Caleb Cook & lettered by Bianca Pistillo.
Volume 2 includes chapters 5-9 plus notes & bonus strips! After fun at the amusement park, Chiaki, Hinata, Kuro, Roze & Shirogane befriend Idora & Hako, who wears the frilly short – cropped yukata with the ribbons, cat bell, tabi socks and zeta sandals! We learn of her origin as Idora’s faithful cat who was reincarnated as the playful catgirl!
There are cute apron & dinner scenes; Chiaki’s older sister briefly visits; but things turn dire when the school is attended by Rir Rir, the totally dangerous Fenrir wolf girl, fur shur! She is a powerful enemy on the prowl for Cerberus, and controls the minds of the students to assist her in the hunt, including poor Hinata who brings her bow & arrows!
There are other alarming incidents, but I should not further spoil the plot! The heroes are likable, and I love the character, scenic & FX art! I especially like the expressions, poses, clothing and details. Kuro, Roze, Shirogane and Rir Rir have just the one tail apiece but Hako has two! Nextly I would like to discuss another title from Yen Press-
School-Live vol.6!
So like, written by Norimitsu Kaitou and illustrated by Sadooru Chiba, School-Live! purrtains to the the Meguirigaoka High School’s School Living Club. The purrpose of the club was so that the girls will learn to work together as a team which will safely, effectively function as a secure, autonomous community within the barricaded school building.
Except for rooftops and rare experditions, they seldom went outside, and took great care venturing below the 3rd floor. That is because of the flesh – craving zombies lurking about, and those who are bitten by the zombies are likely to become one, to thusly prey upon your former friends! This happened to their beloved teacher Megumi-sensei.
The apocalyptic group has since included athletic, tough Kurumi Ebisuzawa with the Black hair & shovel; Yuki Takeya the optimistic yet naively delusional girl with the Pink hair and nekomimi hat; club purresident Yuuri Wasasa the senpai with long dark Brown hair, and Miki Naoki with short Blonde hair, who they rescued during a visit to a mall.
An infected stray dog also spent a brief time with them too. Eventually their supplies dwindled and the school’s power finally ceased, so the quartet loaded a car with their few supplies and bade farewell to the school as they embarked on a “graduation” road trip, in hopes of finding more survivors, supplies, answers, and a new safe home.
it is suggested for the older teen readers due to language & violence. Vol. 6 is purriced at $13.00 USA and $17.00 Canadian. Translated by Leighann Harvey and lettered by Alexis Eckerman, It includes the 165 B&W pages of manga chapters 31-36, 12 pages of notes, 2 color pages, interior cover sketches and the color wraparound cover art.
They occasionally stop for the searches and sleep, although Kurumi has seemed different since she survived the bite; her body is colder and sometimes the nearby zombies ignore her, when she sneaks out at night to reconnoiter the area. Yuki still suffers from her coping delusion and Yuuri hopes that her missing younger sister has survived.
Listening to the radio, they receive broadcasts from another survivor who they hope to contact; and whilst exploring an elementary school the rescue a scared, quiet  widdle girl with long Light Brown hair whom they name Ruu-chan. Later while investigating a college, they encounter a sniper, but I should not reveal their fates any further!
The girls are likable & sympathetic, but their bittersweet situation ranges from the cheerful to the desperate, scary and tragic. The characters & scenery are beautifully rendered with exquisite detail, and I will continue to pray for their survival and give this series the high grade of an “A” as in the apocalypse. Now here is Jenjen to tells us about
Monster Musume: I Heart Monster Girls vol. 4!
Hai, Written & drawn by Okayado, originally published by Tokuma Shoten in Japan, Monster Musume is a sexy comedic urban fantasy manga of the harem trope & ample fan service, starring the liminal ladies / monster girls of various species who are romantic rivals for Kimihito, the human chap in whose house they reside.
The government bureaucracy awkwardly regulates the coexistence and hosting of the liminals, but Kimihito’s nice house has been often expeditiously enlarged and renovated, thanks to Ms. Smith their overworked case worker who finds homes and jobs for the liminals whilst trying to purrotect their civil rights.
Residing in the house are Centorea the centauress, Miia the lamia, Papi the harpy, Suu the slime girl, Merou the mermaid, Rachnera the spider girl and Lala the Dullahan.Assisting Smith are the Monster Ops team of Manako the cyclops, Tio the ogre, Doppel the doppleganger and Zombina the zombie.
Numerous other recurring monster girls include Kii the dryad, Draco the dragon girl, Yukio the yuki-onna, Liz the lizard girl, Polt the kobold, Kinu the oni, Lilith the demon, Cathyl the minotaur, Octo the Scylla, Merino the pan, Yuuhi the new zombie, Ton & Cott the dryads, Ils the kitsune, Miku & her Shikigami minions.
I Heart Monster Girls is the companion anthology starring those characters in the side-stories by various manga-ka. The contributors to vol. 4 are Kenkoucross, Tsukasawa, Kanemaki Thomas, 221, Misuhiro Kimura, Akahito, Ahobaka, Unetama, Yu Tsunamino, Sukage, Nijo^2, Tottori-saQ, Shido Mayuru, Shake-o, and Okayado.
Published here in English by Seven Seas, Vol. 4 was translated by Ryan Peterson, adapted by Shanti Whitesides, purroof read by Janet Houck, edited by Adam Arnold, assistantly edited by Jenn Grunigen, and published by Jason DeAngelis, with the lettering & layout by Ma. Victoria A. Robado & William Ringrose…
… purrduction management by Lissa Patitillo, purrduction assistance by CK Russell, cover design by Nicky Lim and logo design by Courtney Williams. It is rated OT (for older teens of ages 16+) purrhaps due to the ample nudity, purrominent boobies, skimpy attire, slapstick violence, sexy comedy and dark humor.
Thusly the content is purrobably not for widdle kitties or purrudish readers, but yet it also brims with the much light – hearted sweetness with the sense of family and community when the characters coexist, coopurrate and care for each other. The anthology series’s short tales tend to be briskly paces and quite amewsing.
Vol. 4 has 138 B&W pages & 8 color pages. Rachnera graces the front cover, and bonus 4.75″ x 6″ color postcards #10 – 12 are included, which depict the Monster Ops team, Miia and Centorea, and Miia wearing glasses. Some chapters are short tales, whilst others are gag strips, mostly of the panoramic 4 koma format, but there are also larger images aplenty.
Nyow I will offer the taste of the volume’s plots. After two color pin-ups, Manako is sadly teased about her flat chest, Doppel shape-shifts into a more voluptuous version of Manako, Rachnera helps Miia to overcome her phobia of Lala’s detached head, Lala misplaces her head, and Cathyl needs to be milked to alleviate her engorged udders.
The Monster Ops Team arrives for a hot crab pot dinner when the home’s HVAC malfunctions on the nippy day; Papi paints Rachnera’s silk into the fake Red String of Fate, Centaorea fears that her breasts will sag after a taunting, Suu shape-shifts into an igloo during a hot night, Liz wishes for a comfier bed, and the gang goes to the aquarium.
Kimihito catches a cold, but the ladies’ overzealous remedies worsen the malady; he tries to cheer up Manako who thinks people shun her, Merou induces feelings of romantic heartbreak amongst her rivals, Rachnera & Kimihito stroll to a cafe, Ms. Smith joins the other ladies in the onsen, and the Monster Ops Team tries on various swim wear
In Masha’s 8 strips, Papi’s unfinished maid costume is topless, Ils wears the sexy uniform to lure more visitors to her shrine, inebriated Rachnera gropes Miia, Cathyl & Merino’s ranch is revisited, Manako wishes that Kimihito would collide with her chest, she sees distant storm, and Lala compliment’s her lovely large eye.
In Akahito’s 14 strips, Lala detaches her head while eating, Suu’s complexion becomes carmel colored when she absorbs the cola, she shape – shifts into a pair of legs for Miia, Miia finds the body pillow of herself, devours foods whole, serves drinks to Rachnera who becomes inebriated by caffein, and Miia inquires about Merou’s romance novels.
Papi lays another egg, Lala duels Zombina, Zombina arm wrestles with Tio, Polt and Draco shower at the gym, Ils salivates at a yummy thought, Cathyl needs further milking, and Centorea borrows her pumps. Finally to top off the volume are more illustrations, the credits, and Okayado’s cutomary meta – fictional afterward.
This is another fine collection of charming, wacky, sexy & naughty incidents in the everyday lives & inter – species relationships of delightful friends, as beautifully envisioned by the artists of different styles. That will conclude our manga mewsings, so nyow I will turn The Mew over to Petra-sensei, who will  purrsent the latest
additions to Catgirl Island’s Mewseum of Art!
Arigato, nya! For those who might be here for the first time, Galleries 1-7 of The Catgirl Island Mewseum of Art display images by Mike, whilst Guest Art Galleries 1-4 display images by other folks with their purrmissions, and Mike’s collaborative images with other artists can be found throughout the mewseum, nya!
On Catgirl Island’s official web site, the most recent pics will be the lowermost row of the cropped widdle “thumbnail” sized portions of the pics in a gallery, and you have to click upon those to see the uncropped, full pics, nya! This month we have added several new images to Guest Gallery 4 and to Gallery 6, nya! Some of the images depict the sexy images, nya!
we are purroud to purrsent the “Magical Catgirl” by Rebecca Brogden http://www.rbrogdenart.com who was the guest for our September 2009 Mew, nya! She used the pencils, pens and Copic markers to depict Faera who is one of our island’s fire fighters & purramedics, nya! Faera (purronounced: FAI-rah) is a catgirl of the Scottish – French – Scandinavian purrsuasion, with the alluring Auburn ears, hair & tail with the White tufts & tip, wearing the bare midriff Blue outfit with the Black belt & scarf as she casts a bubbly spell, nya!
Rebecca used the micron pen, Gold and White gel pens, White and Blush color pencils upon the Strathmore toned papurr to depict the tastefully nude catgirl bathing in the “Hidden Spring”, nya! The Black & White catgirl with the delightfully distinctive holstein – like sports is quite peppy, alluring and tantalizing, as she arches and smiles at us in the thigh-deep pool secluded by the boulders, but her lush waist-length, twin-tailed coiffure and the blooming Lotus Lily pad do conveniently obscure the view of her boobies and crotch, nya!
Nextly we have a stunning pic of “Mel in a Bikini” by our web master Jamie http://jamiecotc.com who used Photoshop CC215, Painter 216, and Clip Studio Paint to depict this latest sexy image of his character Corrine Elizabeth Melpomene Chattan, nya! A heroine of Jamie’s web comic Clan of the Cats http://clanofthecats.comMel is the witchy mercenary were – leopurrd sister of Chelsea and Cynthia; she was our November 2009 guest, and in this illustration she is wearing the Black string bikini in the shallow water, mew la la, nya!
After that is further feline female goodness to grace out gallery, thanks to the wonderful widdle “Catgirl Sketch” by Kieran White who was another artist at this year’s WhatTheHell?! Con, nya! In the convention’s artist alley was her table full of purretty purrints and original art, where Mike commissioned this adorable 5 3/8″ x 8 1/2″ pencil sketch of a bikini clad catgirl arising from her nap on the beach, nya! Y’all can see more of Kieran’s lovely art, including her impurresive color works at mogmamittens.tumblr.com, nya!
Then we are overjoyed to observe “Catsandra” by Meesha DJ Walker http://www.xeshema.deviantart.com, who was the June 2015 Guest of The Mew, nya! Meesha had a table at WhatTheHell?! Con and the Oak City Con again too, an at the latter con she used the Copic markers, Black and White ink pens to depict Catsandra the sultry purrofessional catgirll belly dancer with the lush Red hair, the bejeweled Green costume and White – tipped Auburn tail that serpentinely swishes as her hips shimmy and tummy undulates, nya!
We are delighted to display “Yara, Cheesecake” by Darkdugofdoom, nya! This pen & marker rendering depicts Yara, the feisty first mate catgirl of the airship Heaven’s Blessing in the steam punk adventure tale of the Pirates of Tezomea by Dug and his wife Neesa http://lettergnome.deviantart.com who we were glad to see again at WhatTheHell?! Con, nya! In this illustration which was a Yara art trade with Mike, Yara is happily belly dancing in the skimpy sheer costume that reveals much of her strong muscular physique, nya!
After that we have the collaborative cosplay photo-manip of “Misty as Ninjette” by Misty Hopkins http://bunnychai.blogspot.com and Mike, nya! Mike used Photoshop CS2 and the mouse to edit & embellish the selfie photo which was taken by Misty, who was among the March 2008 guests of The Mew, nya! She was test – cosplaying as the character Ninjette, the kunoichi co-star who likes to drink, party carouse and fight in the amewsing, sexy Empowered comics created by Adam Warren http://adamwarren.deviantart.com, nya!
it is time for Mike’s  Mike’s pen, markers, Photoshop CS2 and mouse  illustration of “Yara, Yelling”, which was Mike’s half of the Yara art trade with Dug, nya! Mike used pens and markers to render this very revealing image of Yara who is barely wearing the tight wet fundoshi panty and shredded sheer tank top as she irately flexes her magnificent muscles and yells at someone after emerging from her airship that has just crashed in the ocean, nya!
“Renea” is Mike’s pen, markers, Photoshop CS2 and mouse illustration of Marshall Lakes’s original character, nya! Marshall was another artist at WhatTheHell?! Con and the Oak City Con with his great paintings, nya! His character Renea is a heroine with the magickal powers and big blades which have just been used upon an enemy monster, nya! She has the many fashions too, so Mike imagined her in this bare midriff choli blouse & skirt, nya!
Nextly is Mike’s pen, Photoshop CS2 and mouse illustration of Bun’s niece “Bunina-chan” enjoying ice cream in the swimming pool, nya! Bunina-chan is quite athletic and artistic like her aunt, and her hobbies are reading, coloring, cartoons, volleyball, running, swimming, and her pet rabbit, nya! Her favorite foods are clover salad, cran apple nummy berry ice cream, carrot cake, acorn squash bisque, and the extra special baked yams, nya!
Then appurropurriately we have Mike’s pen, Photoshop CS2 and mouse illustration of her mom / Bun’s sister Melony, who has the “2 Buns in the Oven”, nya! She is wearing the open Hapi coat, the knotted bandeau top, and funodoshi loin-cloth that accent her purregnant tummy, nya! Her hand gesture is not just the peaceful sign, but it is the indication that she is expecting the twins, nya! So, what do y’all think of the art, nya?
Mary Nyan:
I love the Magical Catgirl’s pose, gesture & dreamy expurression as she wistfully conjures the magickal spheres!
The catgirl in the HIdden Spurring seems so happy, comfy & carefree and I adore her purretty holstein-ish spots!
It is good to have another pic of Mel in our mewseum! That tide pool must be steaming, because she is the hot sight!
Thanks! That illustration was done especially for Mike!
Kieran’s catgirl is quite cute & sexy with the lovely whiskers, fluffy tail, luscious lips, and the lithe figure in the bikini!
Catsandara’s graceful pose & gesture, the folds, drapurry, beads & jewels of her bra & skirt are exquisite.
Dug’s latest Yara pic has the gleeful expurression, lush hair & tail, the powerful musculature & sexy apparel!
She is the alluring, powerful sight in Mike’s pic, but I pity the fool who made her angry and crashed that airship!
I am glad to see more images of Yara, and I am eager to read Dug and Neesa’s next fantasy tales, nya!
Renea seems satisfied with her victory over that Green tentacle monster upon the rocky plateau, nya!
I think that Misty looks quite splendid as Ninjette, especially with the shurikens as the ornamentation!
Kawaii! Bunina-chan is adorable, from her cute carrot details to the yummy ice cream cone!
Fur shur!
Soon I will be an aunt again! Mike faithfully captured the image & spirit of my sister too! Arigato gozaimasu!
Oh, well, you’re very welcome- it was my honor, and Petra, thank you for presenting the new art!

Oh I especially liked the color of the — CLOUDLESS SULPHUR, NYA!
(The easily distrracted catgirl with her camera scampurrs after the Yellow butterfly.)
There she goes again- and so close to the end of today’s Mew too!
The natural sciences and photographic arts must be served, heehee!
Oh i wanna see it too!
(She scampurrs after Tara-chan and the interesting insect)
Oh well, it is almost time for our AfterMew Luau, anyway!
Well, I guess that will wrap it up for another edition of The Mew!
