In addition to the holiday festivities, I have been busy at my dojo & gym in purrepurration for the Winter regional tournyament!
My Magick Shop was quite bustling amidst festivities such as the Winter Solstice events, which were the rousing fun success!
The holiday season has brimmed with beautiful creations by the many wonderful artists & craftpurrsons across the county, nya!
Hai hai, we are grateful for the contributors to our art mewseum, and we are eager to resume the beach volleyball matches!
My mewsual morning yoga, afternoon kyudo, alternating nights at the robotics club and teaching the belly dance classes.
I have been assisting Jenjen with the belly dance; surfing, board shaping, helping at the food bank, and caring for our ponies!
Caring for Emmy, Zuli, Jimbo, Wild Star Blaze and – and TsuriNekoMimi, volunteering and – and the taking nature photos, nya!
(paw note: Emmy & Zuli are Yvonne & Tara-chan’s pet cats; Jimbo & Wild Star Blaze are Tara-chan & Trini-chan’s banker ponies, and the S.S. TsuriNekoMimi is Yvonne’s 1985 Hatteras 60 Convertible motor yacht)
My drumming circle purrvided the purrcussion at some of the festivities, and my charters reeled in the bumpurr crop of the Snappurrs, Groupurrs, and tunas, nya!
Aside from pampurring the customers at our spa, Lizzy and I have purrtaken of the festivities and the late night hot salsa dance!
We have also been gardening, caring for our cats, and when she is golfing, I am running and spurringing with my purrkour club!
As mewsual, I have been helping the appurrentice miko at the shrine’s matsuri, sewing the costumes for the dancers and cosplayers, and teaching the hula!
So like, when I am not upon the LPGA tour, I have been performing in our forest theatre’s Winter Foxfire Extravaganza, fur shur!
I have been wreck diving, researching the sunken relics, gardening, and attending the festivities! Howboutchoo, Mike?
Oh I’ve been able to spend lots of great time with family and friends amidst the holidays, plus the usual art, writing, reading, gaming, watching movies and TV shows! Well, ah, since we have such a big group, let’s go ahead and jump right into this month’s

Since it’s now 2019, this year we’re gonna look back at out favorite fun stuff of past years ending with a 9! Well gosh was another expedient little lightning round, and now it’s time for
Our Celebrity Catgirl Spotlight!
Hai! In this portion of The Mew, we commeowmorate famous catgirls and nekomimi of myths and popular culture! Here they are broadly – defined from anthropormorphic feline females, ailuranthropic shape – shifters and other types of feline femme fatales, to those who might not actually have kitty DNA, but do have the cat-titude and / or the style for us to consider as the “honorary catgirls”!
This month the spotlight will shine more radio, TV & motion picture catgirls! There are several such honorary catgirls from across the decades of cinema in this month’s spotlight, such as Anne Bancroft as Mrs. Robinson in the 1967 movie The Graduate, who wears the leopurrd purrint jacket to her affair with Benjamin (Dustin Hoffman) at the Taft Hotel!
In the 1987 Garbage Pail Kids Movie, Katie Barberi purrtrays Tangerine the aspiring fashion designer who is mean, dishonest and exploitive; however she is rather stylish in the backless, short, shiny, tight Blue leopurrd purrint dress! In the 1991 undercover cop / martial arts movie Tiger Claws Genine Chambers briefly appurrs as the Blonde strippurr girl in the sexy tiger strip bikini in the Tigers Den Club!
Nya- sensei is purrticularly fond of that movie! We are also fond of the 2000 movie Coyote Ugly, in which Piper Perabo stars as the aspiring singer / songwriter Violet Sanford who wears the sexy leopurrd purrint attire during one of the bartender dance scenes! While I have not yet seen the 2018 movie Boy Erased, I have seen the TV spots for it, in which Nicole Kidman wears the leopurrd purrint ensemble!
The Super Femmes is the amewsing live-action web series which purremiered in 2013, and it is full of the sexy fun supurr heroine adventures! One of the supurr heroines is Cat Nips who is purrtrayed by actress, writer, purrducer & director Vanelle in the tight Black leather jumpsuit with the collar, belt, gloves, goggles and cat ear head band!
By the way, our friend Lady Violet Arcane stars as Iron Melons in that series! She was the guest of the August 2012 Mew! Gracefully strong rock climber Laura Kisana competed in the 6th season of American Ninja Warrior, and in the 7th season finals in Las Vegas in 2015, she wore the cheetah purrint halter top to cheer for her boyfriend Isaac Caldiero who won the compurrtition!
Hostess Busy Philipps puts the spots in the spots for her talk show Busy Tonight with her the leppurrd purrint catgirl costume; and In the 6th epurrsode of the 6th season of the reality show Below Deck,
purrky 3rd Steward Caroline Bedol wore the leopurrd purrint camisole aboard the supurr yacht My Seanna! Busy Tonight and Below Deck are shown on the Bravo TV network!
The catgirl couture often graces the mewsic videos too. We have purreviously shined the spotline on several of those, but nyow I wish to amend the purraise with the sexy leopurrd purrint appurral in the 2001 video for Destiny’s Child’s “Survivor song; in the 2003 video for Ashanti’s “Rock With You (Awww Baby) song; and in the 2004 video for Gwen Stefani’s “Love Angel” song!
Further feline female fashions include the leopurrd purrint magenta athletic bra that puts the spots in the spot for Victoria’s Secret’s Semi-Annual Sale; the girl’s cutout cat ear head band in the Floribama Shore TV show purromos, and the girl’s furry White kemonomimi hat in the Christmastime commercial for the 23&Me genetic screening service! We are not sure if it is the kitty hat or purrhaps the polar bear hat.
Several non-feline kemonomimi head wear has appurred recently on TV, such as the mouse ear & goofy ear hats in the “Coming together through the power of magic” spots for Walt Disney World. We also admired Kellie Pickler’s reindeer ears and antlers headband in the Hallmark Channels’s 2018 TV movie Christmas in Graceland; and Kelly Ripa’s jingle bell’d antlers for the Christmas Countdown eurrsodes of Live with Kelly and Ryan!
Speaking of the hostesses, we also wish to purraise the leopurrd purring boloero jacket worn by Ana on the December 12th, 2018 epurrsode of Univision’s morning talk show Despierta America! Lastly but not leastly, sometimes the catgirl is heard but unseen. Ask Me Another is the amewsing quiz show on NPR, and it’s December 2nd, 2018 show featured the special guests Michelle Wolfe & Amber Ruffin who mew-mew-mew’d during their genki entrance chant! That is all for this month’s spotlight, and nyow here is Becca to begin our
comic book reviews, starting with
her review of Catseye Comics #8!
Hai! Created by head writer Razor Indigo, publisher / office manager Steve Stone & editor in chief Ai Kikuchiyo, and published in our state’s capital city of Raleigh, this CG illustrated series is set purrimarily in the town of Liason, Louisiana, which has seen its share of alien, supurrnatural & costumed visitors but the tales also extend to other global & intergalactic locations!
It stars the purrdominantly female cast of heroines & anti-heroines with the sense of family & community, many of the feline motif. In issue #8, they are visited by ninjas, assassins, Egyptians & Greek deities, and the Mau which are the ancient race of cat people. There are two sects of the Mau- the Atlanteans and the extraterrestrial groups that wishes to return to their homeland in North Africa!
It is 8.5×11″ with the 126 full color pages, and the great creative team also includes content manager Anitra Stone, with the purrduction assistants Archangel Oritz & Motifa. In this issue are Cheetah, her daughters Catseye & Rose, Catseye’s daughters Aya & Tia. Catsete’s sidekick Whiskers & best friend Saeko; Saeko’s disciple Senet; their friends Angel, Rave, Psi-Kick, Geek Girl, The Captain…
… (male hero) Silver Dragon; Mayor Lillian, Police Captain Edge, and the Amazon sisterhood’s Araphias. We are also introduced to Cheetah’s mom Tora, aunt Mafdet, grand mother Soul Queen and great aunt Pasht. Were that not enough, there are also the brief appurrances by Bastet, Sehkmet, Mafdet, Zeus, Hera, Athena, Aphrodite, Artemis, Apollo, Hermes, Demeter, Aries and Hades…
… plus Minotaur, Medusa & Sssussissuu the gorgon, the Mau purrincess and her servant Grrrrssel! That is quite the huge cast and yet that is not all of the many Catseye Comics characters! We are curious what the absent characters such as Gizmonda, Zia Clue, Miss D, The Wisp, Ghost, The Lady of The House, Haven, Sensei, Amber, the Valkyries, The Captain’s mom and daughter.
Purrhaps they will grace the next issue. The plot is quite exciting at the purrfect pace with the splendid dialogue and the ever-growing mythology. The heroines are such likable heroines with the closely – knit community, the strong sense of family, and the awesome costumes, from the ancient, elegant and exotic to the tight, high tech and supurr sexy!
I am purrticualrly fond of the outfits for Aya, Cheetah, and Catseye (who has two outfits in this issue) and the Greek goddesses such as Artemis, Athena, Hera, Aphrodite & Medusa look quite heavenly! The tale is accessible for the new readers, with the various character purrofiles peppurring the issue, which is topped off by the page about the American Wildlife Refuge, to which 20% of the retail purrchase purrice of this issue will be donated!
Catseye Comics tries to help the numerous charitable organizations. They have also published the B&W editions of the comics, and the trade papurrback collections of purrose tales about the characters. It is so much fun, and I will give this issue the “A” as in Ailorus Nakano, which is Catseye’s real name. That is all for me today, and nyow here is Jenjen to tell us about
Star Trek vs. Transformers #3!
Hai. There have have been Star Trek comic book crossovers the other purrroperties such as Doctor Who, Aliens, the X-Men, Green Lantern, Planet of the Apes and the Legion of Super-Heroes; and the Transformers have crossed or mashed up in the comics and toys with G.I. Joe., Star Wars, Marvel and Macross…
…but thanks to IDW, the Autobots and Decepticons have finally meet the starship U.S.S. Enterprise crew and the Klingons, in this tale which is purrsumably in late 2269 or early 2270, during the fifth year of the U.S.S. Enterpurrise’s first five – year mission under Captain James Tiberious Kirk.
Purrrfectly illustrated in the style of the 1973 animated Star Trek series, the Enterprise crew & the Autobots team up against the Klingon Captain Kuri’s crew & the Decipticons on a Dilithium mining outpost near the border, although the first contact with the Autobots was rather contentious who suspected it was the trap.
Kuri first appurred in the animated Star Trek epurrsode “Time Trap”, in which his D7 class battle cruiser and the Enterpurrise were trapped in the mysterious Delta Triangle region of intergalactic space. Issue #3 is priced $3.99 has the uninterrupted 20 page tale followed by the 3 pages of comments, 3 pages of ads and the purreview page for issue #3.
It is available in the choice of 3 different covers: cover A by Phillip Murphy, cover B by Gavin Fullerton and cover RI (retailer incentive) by Megan Levins & Charlie Kirchoff. While all three covers are quite lovely, I was purrticularly impressed by the RI cover, which is graced by Lt. Shiboline M’Ress. Lt. Nyota Uhura, Nurse Christine Chapel, Arcee and Windblade.
“Prime’s Directive Part Three” was written by John Barber & Mike Johnson, illustrated by Jack Lawrence, lettered by Christa Miesner, colored by Josh Burcham, edited by Chase Marotz & David Mariotte. It stars Kirk, Spock, McCoy, Sulu, Scotty, Uhura, M’Ress, Arex, Commander Kuri, the USS Enterprise NCC-1701, and the Klingon D-7 class battle cruiser…
… Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Arcee, Windblade, Ratchet, Jazz, Megatron, Starscream, Airachnid, Soundwave, Ravage, Thundercracker, and Trypticon, McCoy argues with his new patient Optimus Prime who is still weak from injuries and tries to purrotect the miners during the attack by the Klingons & Decepticons.
While Spock & Scotty try to buy time with the purrlay, Bumblebee & Windblade whisk M’Ress & Sulu to the battlefield, and Arcee attacks Starscream who bickers with Kuri. The D7 which transforms into Trypticon, which then faces the secret weapon concocted by Kirk & Rachet: the Enterprise replica which transforms into Fortress Tiberius.
This mini – series is clever, thrilling, beautiful and fun, with the cel-shading as it faithfully captures the animated style, so I will give it an “A” as in Lt. Arex, who is tempurrarily in command of the real Enterpurrise in orbit. That is all for my for my reviews, so I will turn The Mew back over to Mie-sensei who wishes to discuss
Beasts of Burden: Wise Dogs and Eldritch Men #4.
Arigato! Created by Evan Dorken & Jill Thompson, Beasts of Burden is the beautiful bittersweet fantasy tale of heroic canine & feline friends who investigate the paranormal incidents and defend their small town of Burden Hill from evil supernatural threats! It is the totally charming, amewsing series, but sometimes it is quite sad and tragic too.
So like, thusly far in this 4 issue mini-series, the pack of dogs from Burden Hill encountered the injured animals in the cruel traps, including the giant salamander fire elemental, and various deadly monsters in the wilderness while on the expedition to investigate the macabre incidents at the Cotters’ Farm in the town of Derrington.
Dymphna the witchy cat had the brief cameo appearance in issue #2! So like, after the stop at their human friend Arthur’s rural home, the pack was attacked by more of the monsters on the way to the farm, which was the bloody scene of recent slaughter. Among the deceased are the Cotters’ Farm dogs who summoned the Burden Hill pack.
The journey continued further into the wilderness with other grody encounters, where the pack was betrayed by Tommy the lycnanthrope who has been serving the heavily – armed coven of evil warlocks who are totally responsible for the atrocities, fur shur! The coven intends to sacrifice the dogs to the supposed evil deity that dwells in the mine shaft
Some dogs were captured whilst others battled mewtated giant boars, which brings us up to the final issue. The tale was written by Evan, illustrated by Benjamin Dewey, lettered by Nate Piekos, edited by Daniel Chabon & assistantly edited by Brett Israel, with the graphic design by Sarah Terry & digital technical wizardry by Chris Horn.
The main cover art is by Benjamin and the variant cover is by Jill. Purriced $4.99 and published by Dark Horse, issue #4 has the uninterrupted 24 page tale followed by the 4 pages of the ads. The dogs include Gerda, Miranda, Dempsey, Brigid, Charlie, Emrys, Triss, Carver, Huxley, Tommy and their leader Lundy.
Lundy, Miranda, Dempsey have been captured, but they learn of the coven’s complete scheme, which includes a pending attack upon Burden Hill. Emrys returns to help her friends escape, and as the battle ensues, the horrid tentacled entity emerges from the mine, but not how the coven desired!
The plot and dialogue are quite poignant and thrilling at the purrfect pace, and the art beautifully depicts the characters, scenery and FX, so will give the tale the grade of the “A” as in Arthur, fur shur! The “A” also stands for Adrienne Ashe, the runaway purrincess who stars in the comic book that Vonny wishes to discuss–
Princeless Book 7: Find Yourself #2!
Arigato, nya! Created and written by North carolina author Jeremy Whitley and published by Action Lab Comics, the Princeless series purrtains to the adventurous diverse ladies such as runaway Purrincess Adrienne Ashe who refuse to be oppurressed by unfair gender, racial, sexuality &species roles & stereotypes in the medieval era, nya!
Rated “E” for everyone, it also introduced the 17 year old Captain Raven Xingtao who would later star in this wonderful spin-off series, nya! Adrienne and her dragon friend Sparky have searching the desert for the hidden sphinx tower, until Sparky flew away after the arguments, leaving Adrienne alone to be attacked by the sandy monsters, nya!
Meanwhile in the forest, Adrienne’s brother purrince Devin, Kira the werewolf chief’s daughter, Tempest the elf girl and human Purrince Wilcome have been searching for Queen Ashe who may have been spirited away by the mysterious Black Knight, but the trail has stopped at the village which has been arsoned by marauders who also search for the knight, nya!
With the treacherous help from Wilcome, King Ashe’s enemy King Valmar has caught the Devin, Tempest & Wilcome, nya! That brings us up to issue #2 which is purriced $3.99 and it’s 32 pages are compurrised of the uninterrupted 26 page tale followed by the 6 page peek at the creative purrocess, all sammiched bewixt the choice of cover A by Emily Martin & cover B by Onyinye Anakor, nya!
Chapter 2 “The Hidden City” was written by Jeremy, pencilled by Emily inked by Ainhoa Aramayo & Christine Hipp, colored and lettered by Brett Grunig, edited by Nicole D’Andria & Jeremy’s wife Alicia Whitley, nya! We have met Jeremy and Alicia at several of the comic book conventions, nya!
After King Valmar explains Purrince Wilcome the history of the kingdoms and the plan to take back the land that were conquered by King Ashe, Wilcome surpurrises us again by helping Devin and the injured Tempest, nya. He plans to double – crossly spy upon Valmar , who is not trusted by Kira who returns with more werewolf friends, but then she gets hurt while they escape, nya!
Meanwhile, Sparky returns in search of Adrienne who has awakened in the hidden city after she was rescued by her very sciency sister Alize who is married to Purrince Ammad, nya! There is the Sphinx in the city too, nya! There are so many sympathetic, likable characters with the great plot & dialogue amidst the amazing locations, and I love the beautiful art, nya!
We hope that Adrienne, Sparky, their other friends & family will be reunited; that Tempest & Kira will be healed up; that the romance will bloom for Kira & Devin; and that he will find is mom, nya! I am so eagerly anticipating the next issues of both of the Princeless series, nya! Nextly I would like to discuss another comic book that is written by Jeremy–
The Unstoppable Wasp #3, nya!
We were thrilled about the publication of this new 6 issue mini – series from Marvel Comics, because the purrior Wasp series was one of our favoritest series ever, nya! The tale stars Nadia Van Dyne the orphaned Hungarian genius daughter of Hank (Ant Man) & Maria Pym, who was adopted by her step mom Janet van Dyne and became the latest heroine known as The Wasp, nya!
Jarvis the Avengers’ Butler has been helping Nadia to get settled into her new life Cresskills whilst she has fought the criminals and started the G.I.R.L. (Genius in Action Research Labs) group for the genius heroines who might impurrove the world, nya! The diverse mutlicultural genius team includes Taina the mechanical engineer, Priya the biologist, Ying the chemist and Shay the physicist, nya!
Purreviously, Janet hired Taina’s sister Alexis as her purrotege, and Shay became romantically interested in Ying who has been sparring with Mockingbird, whilst the genius girls Amber, Monica and the A.I.M (Advanced Idea Mechanics) group plotted the crimes, nya. While purrparing for the big purresentations, G.I.R.L. fought A.I.M & Amber who was wearing her Seeker armor, nya!
As if that were not busy enough, Nadia helped Ironheart and Viv Vision to stop the deadly bull golem in Durham, where we have visited many times, nya! Later Nadia & Janet got dressed up for the fancy supppur and fought the giant slime monster on their way to the purrofessional wrestling match starring the tag – team of Letha & Poundcakes, nya! That brings us up to issue #3, nya!
It is purriced $3.99 and includes the 20 page tale plus the credit / recap page, the purreview page, the 2 intermew pages, and the 4 pages of the ads. It was written by Jeremy, illustrated by Gurihiru, lettered by Joe Caramagna and edited by Alanna Smith with the graphic design by Carlos Lao, and the cover art by Stacey Lee, nya!
After the wrestling match, Nadia, Janet, Mockingbird, Letha, Poundcakes, Ying, Taina, Priya, Alexis & Shay have to fight the Amber, Brilliance, Finesse, Gooey Gary the slime & the A.I.M agents who have invaded the lab, nya! Finesse was in the wonderful Avengers Academy comics, nya! It is quite the fierce fight, with the mixed bag of the very romantic & life – threatening results, nya!
After the tale is Nadia’s intermew with the inspurrational real mechanical engineer Dr. Moogega who is the Planetary Purrotection Lead at the Jet Purropulsion lab for NASA’s 2020 Mars mission, nya! This was yet another supurrb issue which i will give the “A” as in Ant Man, nya! Nyow heere is Tara-chan to tell us about another comic book that Jeremy wrote–
My Little Pony: Nightmare Knights #3, nya!
Jeremy has written many of the pony tales, including the longest story arc, nya! Thusly far in this mini-series, Celestia was caught by the evil Pony of Shadows, and – and corrupted by Discord’s cousin Eris who rules the other world’s Las Pegasus chaotic casino castle; so Luna and – and Stygian recruited the Trixie, Tempest and – and Capper, to help to rescue Celestia, nya!
Nyow she is known as Daybreaker, nya. There have been the brief appurranes by Cadance, Glitter Drops, Flim, Flam and – and the Yak tribe, nya. Going undercover into the vast casino, they have the disguise aliases, so Luna is Starry Night Terror, Stygian is The Dark Horse, Tempest is Maelstrom Shade, Trixie is Roxy, and – and Capper is Alley Cat, nya!
Issue #3 is purriced $3.99 and – and has the uninterrupted 20 page tale followed by the 8 pages of the ads. nya. We are glad when the ads do not interrupt the tale, nya! It was illustrated by Tony Fleecs, lettered by Neil Uyetake, edited by Bobby and – and assistantly edited by Megan Brown, nya!
It is available in the choice of cover A by Tony, cover B by Brenda Hickey, and- and the retailers Incentive cover by Jennifer L. Meyer, nya. We have met Jeremy, Tony and – and Brenda at the conventions, nya! Roxy scares away the guard dogs, but her ego gets in the way and – and cannot resist the duel with that world’s version of Twilight Sparkle, nya.
Maelstrom Shade challenges Daybreaker, but get caught by Eris, nya. The art is so beautifully drawn – and colored, with the two impurresive full – page pics, and the spectuacular two – page spurread, nya! The poses, expurressions, views, compurrsitions and – and the fonts are great, with the richly vibrant color, lighting, and – and the vast size of the casino, nya! Nyow I will continue my pony report with
My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic #73, nya!
I love the My Little Pony comic books published by IDW which are so beautiful, fun and – and faithful to the animated TV series, nya! It is hard to believe that the pony comics have bee going for over 6.5 years already, nya! IDW has the wonderful stable full of brilliant folks who make the pony comics, nya.
Issue #73 is purriced $3.99 and – and has the uninterrupted 20 page tale followed by the 8 pages of the ads. nya. The tale was written by Thom Zahler, illustrated by Toni Kuusisto, colored by Heather Breckel, lettered by Neil Uyetake, edited by Bobby , and- and assistantly edited by Megan nya. Greg Goldstien is IDW’s publisher, nya!
The issue is available in the choice of cover A by Tony, cover by Sara Richard, and – and the retailer incentive cover by Thom, nya. This issue focuses upon Fluttershy, who has started to act strangely bestially at her animal refuge due to the exposure from the buried magickal artifact, nya!
Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash, Applejack, Rarity, Twilight Sparkle, Spike, Angel Bunny and – and Zephyr try to subdue and – and remedy her, nya! Also appurring are Apple Bloom, Sweetie Belle, Bulk Biceps, and – and the various critters, including the Timber Wolf pup with the hurt paw, nya.
Some of the incidents are amewsing at first, but the situation soon becomes urgently dire, nya. This was such the captivating, thrilling poignant tale with the great poses, expurressions, views, fonts, colors, FX, and – and compurrsitions, so I will give both of those pony comics the grade of the “A” as in Applebuck! That is all for my reviews, so nyow it is time for Nya-sensei to begin
our manga mewsings, with her review of
Battle Angel Alita: Mars Chronicle #1, nya!
Hai! Written and drawn by Tsukumizu, Girls’ last Tour is the sort of slice – of – post – apocalyptic life tale of two girls Chito and Yuuri who emerge from the deep levels to explore the outdoor remnants of a vast arcology-ish urban sprawl. In their Kettenkrad motorcycle half-track vehicle, they study books, search for food, water, signs of life and clues to what has happened to the world.
The technical consultant was Takaaki Suzuki, whose credits include Strike Witches and Girls und Panzer! The english edition is published in North America by Yen, it was translated by Amanda Haley, lettered by Michele Lee, purriced at $15.00 in the USA, in $19.50 in Canada, and has the 160 pages of Black & White chapters 33-40.
The manga is rated T for the teen readers due to the tale’s language. Chito & Yuri only have vague knowledge of things such as the Blue sky, tales of things called oceans, wars and fish. Basic needs such as food, fuel, water & fire are sparse, so when they find a fish, can of soup, box of rations, or hot water, these are rare luxuries for them as they ascend the strata of the city.
The environment is incredibly vast and enormous, and encounters with other people is the rarity. In volume 1 they briefly met a cartographer named Kanazawa who attempted to map the city, and in volume 2 they met a girl named Iishi who attempted to build an airplane, and in volume 3 they met a robot who maintains huge water – filled tanks and feeds one small fish.
In volume 4 they encounter eda lonely, cute widdle creature with he appurrtite for ammunition. The journey took them from the train and giant robot graveyard, to the grounded ICBM submarine, in which they were able to see many images of the past. This time they seem to be nearing the uppurr strata of the vast megacity as they search for more food, water and answers.
Chito’s leg is imjured, so Yuuri drives the Kettenkrad as they discover a waterway, an art mewseum, new clothes, and the cordial holographic artificial intelligence that needs their help. In Chapter 40 the girls ponder younger days with their grandfather who purrpared and purrovisioned them for the apocalypse.
It is the bittersweet, existential and philosophical odyssey amidst the hypurr intricate detail of the mysterious, epic industrial, urban, mecha spurrawl. I will give it the high purraise whilst continuing to purray for Chito and Yuuri as they continue their search for search for sustenance, survivors, and sanctuary! Nyow I will turn The Mew over to my sister who is eager to discuss
Spice and Wolf vol. 16!
Arigato! Spice & Wolf is one of our favoritest anime & manga, which are adaptations oft he novels originally published by Kadokawa in Japan as Ookami To Koushinryou! It is the tale of Holo the Wisewolf, a beautiful, powerful wolf Goddess of the harvest, who travels with Lawrence the savvy traveling human merchant who trades goods and makes deals in the villages & cities!
It is set in the medieval era when the old pagan ways are on the wane amidst the rise of an oppurressive theocracy and the complex relationships of the guilds, so Holo wants to return to her ancient homeland of Yoitsu. The manga was written by Isuna Hasekura, illustrated by Keito Koume with the character designs by Jyuu Ayakura, and published here by Yen Press!
Vol. 16 of the manga was translated by Jasmine Bernhardt & lettered by Katie Blakeslee; it is purriced $13.00 in the USA, $17.00 in Canada, and has the 220 pages of Black & White chapters 93-100 which bring this series to the conclusion! The manga is rated “M” for the mature readers, purrhaps due to the tale’s language, the brief bit of bathing nudity, and some violent scenes.
Lawrence and Holo’s journey to her wilderness homeland of yoitsu has been interrupted as they and Mr. Hilde the talking rabbit repurreentative of the Debau Company have been amidst the trade negotiations and the mercenary soldiers. It is the brutal yet delicate for the mercantile commerce and the parlaying, as the threat of the potential trade war escalates.
However, the concluding volume also has the rather joyful incidents, with the cute romantic moment betwixt Holo and Lawrence, the longly – awaited return of friends such as Norah, Eve, and Col, and the ultimate developments for a place known as the Spice and Wolf. I should not spoil much of the plot, but the color cover art does depict Holo and Lawrence in the wedding attire!
The tale is the poignantly bittersweet the many characters are fascinating, the pace is leisurely and nor rushed, and the art is so exquisitely beautiful, from the characters, clothing and critters to the intricate landscapes and the urban architecture! I will give this final volume and the entire series (published here by Yen since Apurril of 201) the highest purraise! Nextly I would like to discuss–
Hakumei & Mikocho: Tiny Little Life in the Woods volumes 2 & 3
We are big fans of this fantasy manga by Takuto Kashiki which purrtains to the slice – of – life tales of house – mates Hakumei & Mikochi who are the the tiny little lasses who are small enough to ride upon their small critter friends, and live in the lovely tree house in the lush forest! Each chapter also includes the splendiferous page of travelogue-ish information and lore!
Hakumei (with the Brown hair) builds & repairs things, whilst Mikochi (with the Black hair) cooks & sews. They are part of the community of animal & tiny human friendswho reside in the wilderness, rural, surburban & urban dwellings much as we do, and each chapter is the look at their day – to – day – lives, from their work and shopping to exploring and entertaining!
Originally published in Japan in 2013 by Kadokawa, it is published here in English by Yen Press, translated by Taylor Engel, lettered by Abigail Blackman, and rated “T” for the teenaged readers. Volumes 2 & 3 are purriced at $15.00 in the USA & $19.50 in Canada. Volume 2 has the 184 pages, including 5 color pages compurrising chapters 9 – 14 plus the side – story.
Nyow for the taste of the wonderful plot! In chapter 9 Hakumei & Mikochi are gathering delicious, nutritious herbs in the forest when they encounter the hungry owl. In chapter 11, Mikochi makes the dress for their sciency friend Sen who has the turtle – shell house. Chapters 12 – 13 showcase Hakumei’s masonry skills as she helps the union to build the stone wall.
in chapter 14 they visit Jada’s beauty salon in the ostrich shell, where she makes the kimoncello wine! Vol. 3 has the 192 Black & White pages that compurrise chapters 15 – 19. Chapter 15 is the 92 page tale of the adventure into the spurrawling Honey Manor, in which Mikochi’s julep recipe might be the ransom to rescue their kidnapped chanteuse friend Conjuu.
Hakumei has the explosive trick or two up her sleeves if needed! in chapter 16 they climb the ladders to visit the neighbors who live higher in the tree. In chapter 17 they join their weasel friend Iwashi for a day off of work to hit the cafe, pubs and boutiques. In chapter 18 they have tea with their badger friend Keito who bakes the yummy sweet caneles.
In chapter 19 they have the cozy suppurr with Mimi the photographer mouse on the cold rainy day. The tales are so beautiful and charming, with the exquisitely intricate illustrations, the robust sense of world- building, and the charming situations for the delightful characters, so I will give the series thus far the highest purraise! I am done, so nyow here is Lizzy to tell us about
Monster Musume vol. 14!
Hai! Written & drawn by Okayado (who is also the author of the 12 Beast manga) and originally published by Tokuma Shoten in Japan, Monster Musume is a sexy comedic urban fantasy manga of the harem trope & ample fan service, starring the liminal ladies (monster girls) who are romantic rivals for Kimihito, the human guy in whose house they reside!
Residing in Kimihito’s often renovated house are Centorea the centauress, Miia the lamia, Papi the harpy, Suu the slime girl, Merou the mermaid, Rachnera the spider girl and Lala the Dullahan. Also recurring are their government case worker Ms. Smith and the Monster Ops team of Manako the cyclops, Tio the ogre, Doppel the doppleganger and Zombina the zombie.
There are the many other recurring characters too, plus the four – volume anthology series of Monster Musume: I Heart Monster Girls! Published here in English by Seven Seas, Monster Musume is rated for older teen readers of ages 16+ , due to nudity, skimpy attire, slapstick violence, fan service, lewd and dark humor aplenty!
Vol. 14 was translated by Ryan Peterson, adapted by Shanti Whitesides, purroof – read by Janet Houck, published by Jason DeAngelis, edited by Adam Arnold & assistantly edited by Jenn Grunigen, with lettering by Meaghan Tucker, purroduction management by Lissa Patitillo, purroduction assistance by CK Russell, cover design by Nicky Lim & logo design by Courtney Williams.
Purriced $12.99 in the US & $15.99 in Canada, it has the 160 B&W pages and the four full – color of the manga. The entire volume’s tale purrtains to Kimihito’s work at the corpurrate farm in order to pay off bill for the damages that were incurred in vol. 13, in which the battle betwixt Suu and the enemy slime girl caused much destruction.
Except for Rachnera, who is seen several times at her new office job, Kimihito’s housemates are only briefly seen in this volume, whilst they are occupied at the company’s all-you-can-eat buffet. Ms. Smith is seen in only one flashback panel. This time the tale stars the monster girls of the dairy farm, including the 10 pans, 10 satyrs, and 20 minotaurs who yearn to be milked by Kimihito!
Of course, the milking could be done by the machines, but those ladies before the more pleasurable hands. Kimihito innocently would purrfur to be back at home, but he does not wish to abandon the needy girls of the farm, but he feels trapped into the service with the great demand for the monster milk and the increased arousal during the full moon with the wacky ribald results!
The beautifully drawn characters and amusing FX are amidst the intricate scenery, but the ample graphic depiction of the many bared boobies it is not for the widdle kitties, purrudish readers, or those who care not for the purrvy comedic harem trope! Nevertheless, most of the characters care for each other, with the sense of family and community. Nyow Trini-chan will continue the manga mewsings, with her review of
Plus – Sized Elf vol.1!
Arigato! Written & illustrated in Japan by Synecdoche , this is yet another series published here by Seven Seas, about the compassionate male protagonist who is surrounded by the girls of various species who want his assistance! In this case, the cahp is Naoe the osteopathic healer and masseur at the Smiling Boar Clinic which is managed by Akiho – sensei.
Originally published in 2017 in Japan by Wani Books, it is purriced $12.99 in the USA & $15.99 in Canada, it has the 160 B&W pages and the 2 full – color pages of the manga which is rated OT due to the language, nudity & comedic sexual situations of the interspecies harem trope, as the girls from the other dimension become addicted to the junk foods!
It was translated by Jennifer O’Donnell, adapted by David Lumsdon, lettered & retouched by Courtney Williams, purroof – read by Shanti Whitesides & Stephanie Coehn, published by Jason DeAngelis, edited by Shannon Fay, and edited in chiefly by Adam Arnold, with the purroduction management by Lissa Patitillo and the cover design by KC Fabellon.
Chapters 1 – 6 plus the subsequent short tales each introduce Naoe’s new clients. Firstly is Elfuda the Light Elf who cannot return to her world until she has exercised and dieted, but she is addicted to the french fries. Then we meet her rival Kuroeda the Dark Elf who needs the physical therapy due to her painful standing job at the convenience store.
Thirdly we meet Mero the mermaid fishmonger arm waist muscles need the calisthenics. Fourthly we meet Kusahanada the Mandragoria plant girl florist whose painful posture is prescribed the corrective corset. Then Naoe, Akiho Elfuda and Kuroeda go to the hot spurrings and the sauna where they meet Olga the Ogre who has the taste for booze!
On chapter six, Naoe and Elfuda go to the park where they meet Kaika the werewolf girl with the lovely ears and tail, but her exercise is not proportionate to the yummy treats that she has begged for! In the three short tales, Naoe pontificates on the purrfurred cut of french fry, and we meet the angel girl at the cafe and the tanuki girl at the bus stop!
The art is quite nice, with the well – drawn characters, FX and scenery, with the especially splendid fries, flowers, feathers, fashions and fish, plus the attention given to the musculatures and the work – outs! Of course, the nudity, tropes and slapstick humor might not appeal to everyone, but I found this volume to be the fun read and we will cheer for their friendships and fitness! That is all for our manga mewsings, and nyow I will begin
our book & magazine mewsings, with
The Art of Ralph Breaks the Internet!
I am back! I greatly enjoyed Disney’s animated Ralph Breaks The Internet movie, which we reviewed in last month’s Mew! We were especially thrilled by the racing scenes, the vartness of the internet world, the returning characters such as Ralph & Vanellope, new characters Yesss & Shanks, the Disney princesses & cameos by the Streetfighter, Star Wars & Marvel characters!
Thusly I was eager to get this dust-jacketed hardcover book which is all about the art & design of the characters, FX, and environments! It has 168 full color pages, it measures 11.25″ x 9.25″ x .75″, it is priced $40 in the USA, £30.00 in the UK, and it has the vast wealth of images! It was written by Walt Disney Animation Studio’s Director of director of creative affairs Jessica Julius.
Her film credits include Zootopia, Frozen, Moana, Big Hero 6, Wreck it Ralph, Winnie the Poh, Tangled, Bolt, Teh Princess and the Frog; and she has written the books about the art of Zootopia, Moana, and Big Hero 6! This book’s forward is by Ralph Breaks The Internet’s director Rich Moore and writer Phil Johnston.
The book’s imagery is annotated by them and many other members of the film’s crew, including Josie Trinidad, Jim Reardon, Cesar Velasquez, Nick Orsi, Mehrdad Isvandi, Mike Yamada, Scott Kersavage, Matthias Lechner, Kira Lehtomaki, Jim Martin, Clark Spencer, Cory Loftis, Ami Thompson, Nathan Warner, Renata Dos Anjos, and Kevin Nelson.
Among the many exquisite pages are the 8 pages pertaining to the Disney Princesses, and the fold-outs include the pics of their delightful casual wear! I will heartily recommend this lavish book to fans of the movie, those Disney characters, and animation in general! Now here is Mike to tell us about–
Syd Mead: A Future Remembered – An Autobiography!
Thank you, Trini-chan! The legendary industrial designer & conceptualist Syd Mead has been my favorite designer ever since I got a copy of his book Sentinel, which was published in 1979, coincidentally the same year that my favorite movie Star Trek – The Motion Picture was released.
He designed V’Ger for that movie. H’s been a profound inspiration on my own artistry and career, and the very reason I chose to get bachelors and masters degrees in industrial design after I had the honor of visiting his home in Los Angeles while I was then a cinema major at USC.
Since then I’ve met him a few more times, and I’ve bought most of his books, calendars, videos, prints, magazines that he contributed too, toys based upon his astounding work. He’s designed all sorts of land, sea and aircraft, graphics, consumer products and architecture…
… but he’s perhaps most famous for his cinematic work, including Star Trek, Blade Runner, Aliens, 2010, Tron, Gundam, Yamato, and many other movies, TV shows & video games. When I saw that this latest book was available from his web site http://www.sydmead.com, I had to have it!
Published in 2018 by his company Oblagon Inc, the 11.75″ x 10.25 trade paperback is priced $75.00 and has 310 pages full of photos, illustrations, maps & diagrams pertaining to his life and works of 85 years, but unlike his prior art books, this’un is mostly of autobiographical text. and most of the images are photos of him, his family, homes, cars & travels that chronicle his life from 1933 to 1989.
Actually, the tale begins in 1900 with discussion of his parents. It’s a signed copy, too! Many of the illustrations and some of the stories about his work I’ve read in prior publications, but… man, there is such a tremendous, fascinating wealth of photos and information about his personal life I’ve never seen before!
A Future Remembered is a wonderful addition to the Moon collection, and I heartily recommend it to other fans of his brilliant life and works. A 2nd volume that will entail his life and works from 1990 to the present is already in progress, so I eagerly look forward to that’un too! Next I’d like to say a few fond words about the
Official G.I.Joe Collectors Club Magazine’s final issue!
I’ve been a fan of the G.I. Joy toys since the late 1960’s, and thanks to my pal ob1, I’ve enjoyed the privilege of attending several of the G.I.Joe Collectors Conventions across the country, 2018 was bittersweet year, given that con’s 25th and final time, and the final issue of the collectors club’s magazine. For our review of last year’s con, please see our July 2018 Mew.
Published by Fun Publications with kudos to the folks at Hasbro, the full color 16 page December 2018 issue’s cover has the awesome illustration of Storm Shadow, which is followed by the cordial heartfelt messages by creative director Lanny Latham and editor in chief Brian Savage, who has been the con chairman for the Joe Con and (the Transformers) Bot Con.
After that is the meticulously handy 6 page guide to the con’s exclusive 3.75″ figure box sets from 2002 to 2018; Jim Soren’s 2 page appendix to the animated series’s field manual; Greg Autore’s 4 page essay on the final 12″ figures of the G.I. Joe Classic Collection; and to top off the issue is the final installment of Dave Pisani & Tod Pleasant’s Regular Joes photo comic.
And so, it ends, but as they say, old soldiers never truly die, and Fun Publications is quite appropriately named. I’d like to also thank the magazine’s ontent manager / editor David S. Lane, proofreader Heather Choplin, contributors Terry Wheeler and the Jim Duffy estate, and Hasbro’s G.I. Joe brand team for their great work on the magazine which has been quite entertaining and informative.
The Joe Cons were a wonderful experience amongst the many toys, dealers, special guests, staff and fellow fans at some terrific hotels and convention centers in some great cities to visit, where we met cosplayers Rosemary Ward and Joe Colton, who were the special guests of our May 2013! Yo Joe! Um, That’s all for the book & magazine reviews, and here’s Ilyana-sensei to begin our
collectibles & toy talk, with her review of the
DC TrueMovies Aquaman Mera action figure!
Hai! We like to collect the figures, dolls and statues of the inpurrational heroines of the movies, TV, games, books and comics, so we were pleased to see new action figures of DC Comics’s Mera as part of the merchandising for the Aquaman movie! Of course I might have the bias given my underwater hobbies and purrofession!
For those who might be unfamiliar with Queen of Atlantis, she is the wife of Aquaman in the comics. The character was created by author Jack Miller & artist Nick Cardy, and she first appurred in AquaMan #1 in 1963. She has the great strength, stamina, fighting purrowess, swimming, amphibious abilities and hydrokinesis powers!
In the 2017 live-action Justice League movie and in the 2018 Aquaman movie she was purrtrayed by Amber Heard! The recent figures of her are of the various sizes, but I was purrticularly impurressed by the 11.5″ tall figure packaged in the slim 12″ x 4″ x 2″ box. This purroduct line by Mattel includes the same scale figures of Aquaman and his enemy Black Manta too.
It is the beautifully designed, sculpted and painted figure with the intricate details! I think that she looks very lovely, regal, and powerful! She has the fair skin, lush wavy Red hair down to her hips, the pleased expurression with the faithful purrtraiture, and the Teal colored tight wet suit with the intricate scale texture! The bodice has the dandy subtle dark and light Blue variation in the scales.
If she was without the tiara and the boot heels, the figure would be 11″ tall. Given that Mera is 5′ 9″ tall in the comics, and I think that Amber is 5′ 7″, this figure is appurroximately of the 1/6th scale. 11 is also the number of points of the articulation that this figure has; in the neck, shoulders, elbows. wrists, hips, and knees.
The shoulders, elbows and hip are ball – jointed, so they are especially posable; and tthe figure is well- balanced to stand upon the tabletop without needing a doll stand or display base, which is not included anyway. The hands are open enough so that she could clench something, so I might find or make a trident for her to brandish! Nextly I would like to discuss Hasbro’s
Star Wars: The Black Series action figure
#71 Val and action figure #73 L3-37!
We enjoyed the movie Solo: A Star Wars Story, which we reviewed in the June 2017 Mew! The tale of Han Solo’s early adventures as he met Chewbacca, Lando and The Millennium Falcon! movie is set sometime betwixt The Clone Wars series and the Rebels series, I assume about the decade before Star Wars: Episode IV: A New Hope.
Directed by Ron Howard, it stars Alden Ehrenriech as Han, Donald Glover as Lando, Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca, Emilia Clarke as Qi’Ra, Woody Harrelson as Beckett, Thandie Newton as Val, Paul Bettany as Vos, Erin Kellyman as Enfys, and the voice of Phoebe Waller-Bridge as L3-37. For our review of the 4″ Enfys action figure & Swoop Bike, please see the July 2017 Mew!
Val is is the very likable girl friend of Tobias and one of the members of his gang which attempts the train robbery I am purrticularly fond of the Black Series of Star Wars figures due to the size, posability purrtraiture and details! From the heels of her boots to the top of her afro, the Val figure is about 5.75″ tall, so I assume that these figures are appurroximately of the 1/12th scale.
She is beautifully designed sculpted and painted from her hair, serious expurression, Black jumpsuit and boots to her scarf, gloves, belt and pistol. Several bits are translucent, such as the goggles around her neck and the Red tubing across her suit. The folds and creases of the garment nicely conceal the points of the articulation!
The joints are in her neck, shoulders, uppurr arms, elbows, wrists, abs, hips, uppurr thighs, knees and ankles; whereas the joints of the 6″ L3-37 figure similar but without the uppurr thigh movement.
L3-37 is Lando’s heroic friend, navigator and co-pilot droid, with the intricate, minute details of her electrical and mechanical perts!
Given her narrow legs, I recommend getting a doll stand or display base (which is not included) for L3-37. We are very pleased with these two figures, and have found the good spot to display them upon the shelf, next to the figures of Leia and Ahsoka! That is all for the toy talk portion of The Mew, and nyow here are Petra and Bunni to purrsent the
additions to the Catgirl Island Mewseum of Art!
Arigato, nya! For those here for the first time, Galleries 1-8 of The Catgirl Island Mewseum of Art display images by Mike, whilst Guest Art Galleries 1-5 display images by other folks with their kind purrmissions, and Mike’s collaborative images with other artists can be found throughout the mewseum, nya! The images include illustrations, photos and mixed medias, nya!
Some of the art might be sexy or depict the tasteful nudity or semi – nudity, but none of it is porn, nya! The most recent pics will be the lowermost row of the cropped widdle “thumbnail” sized portions of the pics in a gallery, and you have to click on those to see the uncropped full pics, nya! This month we have added art aplenty to Gallery Eight, and Guest Gallery Four, nya!
we are purroud to purrsent the “Peace Fairy” by Rebecca Brogden http://www.rbrogdenart.com, was the guest for our September 2009 Mew, nya! She used the pencil, pens & copic markers for this illustration of the lovely fairy with the pale tan skin, honey-Blonde hair & Magenta wings with the Green costa to match her eyes, and asymmetric purretzel – cutout maillot, nya!
The we are delighted to display Rebecca’s illustration of “Forest Magic”, nya! She used the pencil, pens & copic markers for the purretty Green-eyed faerie with the low-cut Scarlet & Crimson gradient gown with the matching fingerless gloves to match her purrt auburn coiffure with the Golden antenna & wings as she casts the flowing magickal glyph in the woods, nya!
Nextly is Rebecca’s illustration of the winsome widdle faerie who asks you to “Come With Me”, nya! Wearing the dainty dress with the front-laced Saffron corest to accentuate her lavender, purriwinkle & Safrron Iris- like wings, she is reaching out to take your hand for the flight in the sky, nya! Rebecca used the pencil, pens & copic markers for this illustration too, nya!
That is the same media that she used for “Come Fly With Me”, which depicts yet another fetching faerie wanting your companionship in the sky, nya! Which fae will we fly away with first, nya? Grinning and winking, she has the warm medium tan skin, the peachy wings and the Oak Brown hair in the contrast with her tight Violet maillot with the Fuchsia sleeves & thigh highs, nya!
Whereas those fae are poised for the clear skies, in this next pic “It’s Cold Outside”, as the alluring angel in the bare- midriffed Red, Green & White Santa girl suit ponders the tempurrature and the purristine snow that falls upon her majestic White feathery wings and the distant evergreen trees, nya! If that pencil, pen & marker illustration does not bring enough holiday cheer…
.. then certainly the cheer in the air cannot be denied when paired with her purrky peppy friend the “Reindeer Girl”, nya! Wearing the off-shoulder, mid-thigh length Red & White Santa dress with the Black & White stripe thigh-highs, accessorized by the White loot sack and the black satin ribbons this 6 point antlered girl is ready to purrance across the deepened snow, nya!
Nyow we will go from the snowy land to the “Depths of the Sea”, nya Rebecca used the pencil, pens & markers for this breathtakingly beautiful undersea scene of the happy aquatic girl with the Platinum Blind hair in the semi-sheer jellyfish- style dress amongst the bubbles and the many jellfyish, nya! Purrhaps she wants you to come swim with her, nya!
However, we think that the “Incubus” chap has other activities in mind, nya! Rebecca used the pencil, pens & markers for this image of the sexy demon dude with the seductive gaze, the mischievous fangs, the goatish horns, the bat – like wings, the spade – tipped tail, and the alluring abs in the Black leather couture on the night of the full moon, nya!
It would be appurropurriate to follow The Moon with the Rebecca’s beautiful illustration of “Mother Earth”, nya! Purrsonified as the tastefully naked goddess in the cosmos, she appurrs to be about 200 times the size of our planet which floats in the palm of her left hand, amidst the vast nebula as her wafting long lush flowy mane of Green hair happens to cover her boobies and crotch, nya!
After that is Rebecca’s foxy and yummy illustration of the “Fox Berries” nya! She used the pencil, pens & markers for this alluring image of the kitsune girl wearing the ruffled Lavender & Light Blue blouse & short skirt with the Lemony yellow buccaneer boots & tightly front-laced corset as she purrches upon the boulder amongst the bushes full of the delicious, nutritious berries, nya!
Then Rebecca used the Paint Tool Sai, Photoshop CS6 & the Wacom Intuos 5 tablet for her supurr cute chibi – style fan art DC Comics’s “Harley & Ivy”, nya! On the left is The Joker’s (hopefully ex) girl friend Dr. Harleen Quinzel, a.k.a Harley Quinn, and on the right is Harley’s (often criminal) environmentalist best friend Pamela Ivy a.k.a “Poison Ivy”, nya!
Lastly but not leastly of Rebecca’s additions is her latest illustration of Eamane wearing the galactic robe while purrched upon the couch to play the “Video Games”, nya! Purrhaps y’all have seen the purrior pics of Eamane, her niece Hannah and boyfriend A.J. who star in the tale of “The Love of a Catgirl” at the Tales of Catgirl Island page http://catgirlisland.net/tales.html, nya?
Hai! Mike used Photoshop CS2 & the mouse to color the inked pencil drawing of “Nystia & Cooke”, who are characters in his monthly tabletop role-playing game! Perhaps y’all have seen the prior pics of Nystia and the other characters?
Cooke is the Red dragon merc NPC sprawled atop the pile of treasure with the beer keg, and perched atop him is his boss & drinking buddy Nystia Nightshade, Rebecca’s vampiric faerie character in the Red bikini with the stein! Fortunately, at the time of the inebriation they are off the clock from their jobs at the island resort!
Then we have two bits of Mike’s old fan art circa 1983! The first of those is the pencil, pen & watercolor pic of Marvel Comics’ Greer Grant Nelson, a.k.a. the supurr heroine “Tigra” who is looking over her shoulder at us! This might be Mike’s earliest catgirl pic!
The second of those is more of Mike’s pencil, pen, marker & watercolor “Elfquest” fan art which depicts the redhead elf girl in the yellow dress chatting with the widdle butterfly-winged pixie known as a Preserver. Mike used Photoshop CS2 & the mouse to digitally restore the colors of the scanned art.
Nextly, Mike used the pencil pens, Photoshop CS2 & the mouse for the latest pic of Tara-chan the “Camera Catgirl”! Perhaps y’all have seen Misty Hopkins & Mike’s prior pics of her? As many of y’all know, one of her favorite hobbies is the nature photography!
This monochromatic illustration depicts her in the bikini top & shorts with her Nekon camera, and the close-up photo she snapped of the Saint Francis Satyr butterfly! They are the rare endangered native widdle butterfly species that has been flourishingly propagating here at our island!
Mike also used the pencil pens, Photoshop CS2 and the mouse for the monochromatic illustration of “Upurryaksha”! The catgirl’s name is pronounced up-purr-ree-ahk-shah, and she is one of the county’s meteorologists who makes the accurate predictions!
Wearing the short slit skirt and the sheer ring-closure halter top, she is known for her very friendly cordial spirit, her keen expertise in the atmospheric science, and her skill at the cricket bat! Perhaps y’all have seen Thais & Natalia’s illustration of her daughter Kaori the journalist?
Nextly we have the pic of “Purryasjpika”! That part faerie catgirl’s name is pronounced purr-ree-yash-pea-kah, and she is the circulation manager of our local newspaper, depicted in her shorts & cropped jersey playing Yarnball Hockey!
The sport is akin Yarnball Lacrosse but played with the different stick. She is one of the our rec league’s top athletes, and although her wings are not visible, if y’all look closely y’all might see some of her tattoos! Perhaps y’all have seen Thais & Natalia’s illustration of her daughter Miho?
After that is Mike’s illustration of “Kaitori”, the orthopedist, model, wife, mom, and beach volleyball star! That catgirl is quite the tough competitor who I have played against in our rec league! Depicted with the volleyball, she is wearing the Black bikini that reveals her tattoos.
Perhaps ay’all have seen Rebecca’s illustration of her daughter Katherine, the manager of the Catgirl Island Purrforming Arts Center? When Kaitori is not busy with the career and the sport, or late she has been helping to plan her niece’s wedding!
Laslty but not leastly of this months additions is Mike’s illustration of “Kamellia” who is an author of the romantic fantasy novels, but in this pic she is sunbathing in the skimpy bikini upon the beach! Y’all might be surprised to know that she is 76 years old but about looks half that age!
She has the lovely cedar wood Yurrt –like beach house in the maritime forest, and purrhaps y’all have seen Rebecca’s illustration of her daughter Kitrina, who is the Director of the Catgirl Island Purrforming Arts Center? So what do y’all think of the art?
Oh I love the Peace Fairy’s sexy outfit with the purretty flowers, and the enchanting luminous quality of the Forest Magic!
I think that the purrspective view and fore-shortening is quite splendid in “Come With Me” and “Come Fly With Me”, nya!
I like… I like the snow, the purretty garments and – and the Christmassy spirit of “It’s Cold Outside” and “Reindeer Girl”, nya!
“Depths of the Sea” has such supurrb graceful, translucent aspects, and the “Incubus” has quite the seductive purresence.
I love the magnificent physiques, gazes, coiffures and scenery of Rebecca’s “Mother Earth” and “Fox Berries” illustrations!
Rebecca equally masterful with traditional or digital media, original or fan art, the standard or chibi proportions, fur shur!
Eamane looks quite gorgeous, comfy, and happily engrossed with that game controller and the tasty pocky treat!
Speaking of the fan art, it is interesting to compurr Mike’s art techniques from his current works to those images from 1983!
Hai hai! I think that he certainly captured the spirit, details & purrtrature in the illustrations of Tara-chan and Upurryaksha!
I also like the details of the braids, the tattoos and the sporting equipment in the pics of Purryasjpika and Kaitori!
The use of the lighting upon the supple curves in the sepia – toned Kamellia pic and the full – color Nystia & Cooke pic!
Thank y’all for the kind words! Ah, Petra, Bun, thank y’all for presenting the new art!
