So, what have y’all been up to since last month’s Mew?
After modeling the swim wear and body paint in a photo shoot at Anse Source D’Argent, I have resumed my mewsual, routine of the morning yoga, afternoon kyudo, teaching the belly dance, and purrsiding over the Robotics Club.
We look forward to the photos, nya! We had the record attendance for the annual summertime body art exhibition at our Museum of Art, where we appurreciate greatly the contributing artists, staff, friends and patrons, nya!
It has been the busy time between the museum and our beach volleyball matches, of which we are grateful for the officials, the event staff, the fans and our fellow athletes, but I still find the time for my gardening and baking!!
When Lizzy, and I have not been pampurring the customers at our spa, we have purrtaken of the local festivities, the late night hot salsa dance, tending to our garden, and binge watching the videos!
Hai hai lately we have binged upon the anime such as Azumanga Daioh, Girls Und Panzer and K-On! Aside from that, When Becca is occupied at the golf, I am mewsually out with my purrkour group!
When my charters have not been reeling in the wahoo, cobia, tuna, snappurr, groupurr, mackerel and croakers, my drumming circle has been purrviding the purrcussion for the dances and matsuris, nya!
When I have not been assisting onee-chan aboard TsuriNekoMimi*, I have been volunteering at the food bank, the mewseum, the stables, taking care of my cats and –  and snapping the nature photos with Trini-chan, nya!
(note: S.S. TsuriNekoMimi is the 1985 Hatteras 60 Convertible motor yacht for Yvonne’s fishing charters, nya.)
I have been board shaping, assisting Jeannie at the dance classes, grooming our ponies, and snapping the photos. We got the good shots of the deer, rabbit, Boston Terrier, Leaf Hoppurr, Wheel Bug and the Cicada!
Mary Nyan:
Between teaching the Hula and helping at the shrine, I have been sewing for the dancers, purrestiesses and cosplayers! Currently upon my dress forms are the costumes based upon Brave Witches and KonoSuba!
I am often at my dojo and gym, but I still find the time to attend the local sporting and cultural events! My sister has been extra busy at her magick shop, what with the Lughnasadh festivities and purrparing for the equinox!
It will be the wonderful celebration! When I have not been at the golf club I have been at our forest grove ampuyrrtheatre where we are wrapping up the Summer Shakespeare shows and anticipating our Aki Fantasy Festa! Howboutchoo, Mike?
Other than my usual art, writing, reading, gaming, running, watching movies & TV shows, listening to music & the radio, and spending time with friends & family, last month I ran in the Beat the Heat 5K on the mainland in Winston-Salem! Ah, well, once again we’ve got a lot on our plate, so let’s go ahead and jump into this months-
Lightning Round topic:
our favorite fun stuff of 1939!
This year’s Lightning Round topics have pertained to things of years ending in a 9, and today we’re looking back at our favorite movies of 1939! Bunni’s gonna start, so are y’all ready to “conduct the lightning”?

Mary Nyan:
Almuuric by Robert E. Howard, Lensman by Edward W. Smith, Lest Darkness fall by L. Sprague de Camp, and The Voyage of the Space Beagle by A.E. Van Vogt!  Back to Mike!
Oh, I gotta go with Superman #1, the first appearance of Batman, Captain Marvel (Shazam), and Flyin’ Jenny! Well gosh, that was another expedient little lightning round! Well, let’s go ahead and jump right into our
DVD & movie mewsings, with the
They Shall Not Grow Old DVD!
Peter Jackson’s documentary about World War One was a 2018 movie that was not shown in a theater near me, so I eagerly awaited the DVD release. The R rated movie seems short at just 99 minutes, but golly it’s captivating, and the restoration, colorization, foley and dubbing of archival footage from a century ago are magnificent!
I highly recommend it to anyone interested in the history of the first world war from a British perspective. The R1 NTSC DVD presents the movie in widescreen format with the Dolby Digital 5.1 audio choices of English and English descriptive, with optional subtitles in English SDH, French, Spanish, Mandarin & Cantonese.
It’s a no-frills package of the one disk in the plastic case, and the only special feature is the 29 min. 39 sec. “making of” featurette, but it’s pretty fascinating to watch too! Ah, next I’d like to say a few kind words about the
Okko’s Inn DVD!
Directed by Kitaro Kosaka, who was previously a key animator at Studio Ghibli, this beautiful, bittersweet Japanese animated feature film  based on a series of novels is about a girl nicknamed Okko who lives and works at her grandmother’s lovely and haunted small rural ryokan after a family tragedy.
There she trains hard with her grandmother, the chef, and the hostess to become the junior innkeeper, but only she can see and communicate with the inn’s three spirits! Some of the lodgers are a challenge for Okko to accommodate, but she’s cleverly resourceful and industriously dedicated to the utmost service while dealing with her own grief.
She makes new friends, including a fortune teller guest, and adjusts to a new school, where a less –  friendly student is a wealthy girl whose parents own a much larger, lavish ryokan It’s quite a whimsical, peppy, tragic, sad, poignant, charming and captivating movie!
The story & characters are quite endearing, the character & FX design & animation are superb, with gorgeous scenic art, great voices, sounds & music which I give a solid “A”! G Kids released the 95 minute, PG rated movie on the R1 NTSC DVD in the plastic case with a cardboard sleeve.
The Dolby Digital 5.1 audio choices are English, English Descriptive, French & the original Japanese; with optional subtitles in English, English SDH, French & Spanish. There are not a lot of special features, but what’s there is quite nice, and include:
An approximately 4.25 min. interview with Kosaka, a nearly 4 min. interview with voice actress Seiran Kobayashi (Okko), a nearly 21 min. Q&A with Kosaka, producers Satoki Toyada & Masahiro Saito at the film’s premier, and 4 of the film’s trailers / TV spots which total about 4.75 min. Ah, now here’s Lizzy to tell us about the
Alita: Battle Angel Blu-Ray / DVD / Digital Code set!
Hai!  We are big fans of Yukito Kishiro’s Battle Angel Alita manga, and the live –  action movie adaptation which we purraised in the March 2019 Mew, so we have eagerly awaited this Region 1 NTSC home video release!
It is available in the different formats such as DVD. Blu-Ray, 3D, 4K and digital download, and and the different packages , such as Best Buy’s steelbook edition, Was Mart’s exclusive edition with the mini Funk Pop Alita keychain, and Target’s exclusive with the Blu-Ray, DVD, Digital Code and the USB wristband. I am reviewing the latter edition!
Packaged in the cardboard box, the Blue plastic case contains the Blu-Ray disk and the DVD disk, both of which include the PG13 rated 122 min. movie purrsented in the 2.39:1 widescreen with the Dolby Digital audio choices of English, English descriptive audio,  Spanish & French, with the optional subtitle choices of English SDH, French & Spanish.
The DVD includes several informative, beautiful & entertaining special features, such as the approximately 20.75 min “From Manga to Screen” documentary which includes the comments by Yukito Kishiro, Rosa Salazar (Alita) & members of the crew such as James Cameron, Robert Rodriguez, John Landau, Caylah Eddleblute, Steve Joyner & Ben Procter!
Also on the DVD are the four narrated motion comics purrtaining to Alita’s world: “The Fall” (5 min 6 sec), “Iron City” (3 min 20 sec), “What it means to be a Cyborg” (2 min 29 sec) & “Rules of the Game” (2 min 53 sec)! Those are also included on the Blu-Ray disk, which has several more extra features, such as…
… the 26.5 min “London Screening Q&A” includes Cameron, Rodriguez, Landau, Salazar Chrisoph Waltz (Dr. Ido) & Jennifer Connelly (Chiren); “The Evolution of Alita” which is the 19.75 min analysis of the titular character; the 14 min 20 sec “2005 Art Compilation” which is the gallery of concept art accompanied by the voices, sound & mewsic…
… and the 10.75 minus of the “Scene Deconstruction” which depicts four scenes of the movie in three stages of development!
Also enclosed in the box are the wristband and the digital  Code instruction sheet, so I was very pleased with this set and I will give it the high recommendation! Nextly I would like to discuss
Spider-Man: Far From Home!
We love the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), and it has been the great year for such this far, including Captain Marvel, Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: Far From Home! In this latest Spidey movie, Peter Parker / Spider-Man is on the class trip to Europe, but the fun, romance & education is interrupted by the destructive villains!
It also addresses the state of the changed world world after the events of Avengers: invite War and Avengers: Endgame,
with Peter / Spidey expected to be the successor to Tony Stark / Iron Man, even though he still wants the somewhat normal high school teen life with friends and family, but I should not spoil much of the tale!
There are many returning characters & several new ones, most significantly Mysterio, with lots of thrills, fun, surpurrises & developments that continue to build upon the Marvel mythology! It has the great plot, characters, purrrformances  dialogue, costumes, stunts, FX, sets, locations, cinematography, sound & mewsic! Now here is Myayr to discuss
Mary Nyan
Hai! I love many horror movies, so I was curious about Midsommar because the purviews reminded me the bit of The Wicker Man, so I was willing to give Midsommar the chance, even though I did not care for director Ari Aster’s purrior movie Hereditary.
Although our web master jamie did like Hereditary, but that is the subjective nature of any art- some might like it and some might not. Anyway, Midsommar’s plot puritans to the group of American tourists who visit the rural Swedish village amidst its pagan festival.
The locals seem very friendly and are quite hospitable, but as I purrdicted, they are the evil cult that has the deadly trap for the visitors! Unfortunately, with the possible exception of a couple of innocent British acquaintances, none of the visitors are likable or sympathetic.
It is the purrdictable movie full of unlikeable characters and betrayals on both sides, and not for the squeamish or purrudish viewer given the language, sexuality, nudity, violence, gore and other disturbing aspects. The film succeeds at the creepy ambience…
… but I thought it was the bit tediou, which is ironic because many movies these days seem to rushed, short, and with too many cuts. Midsommar’s pace is not just leisurely, but seemed rather ponderous. So I do not have much purraise for Midsommer, but I did enjoy–
Mary Nyan
Purrduced by Sam Raimi and directed by Alexandre Aja, Crawl stars Kaya Scodelario as Haley the college swimmer and Barry Pepper as her dad who get caught in their Florida house’s crawl space full of killer gators amidst the cat 5 hurricane!
I consider myself to be a connoisseur of the horror and monster movies that feature the killer reptiles, amphibians, fish, cephalopods, crustaceans, and bugs, whether they are of the normal size or the giant size, and in my opinion this movie is one of the better killer gator movies!
Of course I contend that the delicious gator meat should go into our tummies, not the other way around! This movie is not for the squeamish because there are the intense gory violent scenes of humans getting chomped and fighting back. It is perhaps more the survival movie than the horror movie.
Firstly, the characters and relationships are likable, sympathetic, believable, and smart. That includes Sugar the dog, who remains quite vigilant whilst Haley and her dad are trapped downstairs amongst the nesting hungry gators as the windy water rises!
The gators look and behave quite realistically and the situation is quite believable. It is not the mega gator or the dino croc! It is not the fantasy or sci fi type of horror, and the stunts and FX are very good in telling the intense, thrilling story with some poignant character developments.
I would compurre Crawl to The Shallows, but I think that Crawl is better and more plausible. It is the good all – around movie, and Kaya is definitely the most supurrb aspect of it, but nyow I am craving the cajun grilled gator! I am done, and now here is  Trini-chan to discuss
So like, director Danny Boyle’s great movies include Trainspotting, 28 Days later, Slumdog Millionaire, Trainspotting 2 and now he has struck again with yesterday, which is the alternate – relay romantic comedy full of songs by The Beatles, performed by an aspiring mewsican named jack who is purrtrayed by Himesh Patel of the Eastenders fame!
The catch is that due to the mysterious brief global blackout, he seems to be the only purrson who has ever heard of The Beatles. He soon achieves the supurrr stardom when he performs those great songs and takes the credit, but although he is bringing the wonderful mewsic to the world, the successful charade takes the toll on his conscience and romance,
I should not further spoil the taste of the plot, but the brilliant cast also includes Lily James as his manager & star – crossed romantic interest Ellie, Joel Fry as Rocky the roadie, Kate McKinnon as Debra the agent, and Ed Sheehan as himself!
The locations purrvide much of the charm too, from the small towns to the immense venues, fur shur!
The movie seemed short to me, but it has the great cinematography, and of course the totally awesome mewsic! The songs include  “Let it Be”, “Help”, “Yesterday”, “ I Want to Hold Your Hand”, “A Hard Day’s Night”, “I Saw Her Standing There”,“The Long and Winding Road” “Hey Jude”, “Back in the USSR”, “All You Need is Love” and the several others! Nextly I would like to discuss
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood!
So like, I am a big fan of movies written and / or directed by Quentin Tarantino, and movies that star great actors such as Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie, and Leonardo DiCaprio, so I was very eager to see Once upon A Time In Hollywood, fur shur!
It is quite the amusingly, action – packed dramatic comedy set in Los Angeles circa 1969, with the plot focus upon actor Rick Dalton (DiCaprio), his stunt double Cliff Booth (Pitt) and next door neighbor actress Sharon Tate (Robbie).
Narrated by Kurt Russell, they interact with the many other actors and filmmakers such as Bruce Lee, Steve McQueen, Roman Polanski, Sam Wanamaker, and the many others, but they also cross paths with the Manson Family!
The brilliant cast also includes Dakota fanning, Margaret Qualley, Al Pacino, Bruce Dern, Timothy Olyphant, Mike Moe, Brenda Vaccaro, Luke Perry, Michael Madsen, and Zoe Bell who is also the 160 minute movie’s stunt choreographer!
It is the captivating tale at the perfect pace, with the totally awesome performances, directing, cinematography, editing, music, FX, make-up, sets & locations that wonderfully capture the ambience of the period- with some fascinating alternate – history liberties taken!
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is among my favorite movies of the year thus far, and I hope to see it again soon! So like, that is all for our DVD & movie reviews, so I will turn The Mew over to Nya-sensei, who will present  this month’s
Celebrity Catgirl Spotlight!
Hai! In this portion of The Mew, we commeowmorate famous catgirls and nekomimi of myths and popular culture from across the world & decades, here broadly – defined to include anthropurrmorphic feline females and ailuranthropic shape – shifters, to those who might not actually have kitty DNA, but do have the cat-titude and / or the fashion style to be considered as the “honorary catgirls”!
This month the spotlight shines upon televised catgirls and other species of kemonomimi! Firstly I will shine the spotlight upon Miyo Akino (voiced by Rna Endo) who is one of the ghosts at Okko’s Inn! She was the 7 year old older sister of Matsuda, whose family owns the much larger, lavish ryokan. Miyo briefly cosplays as a catgirl when Okko & her new friend Glory go shopping at the mall!
Action Heroine Cheer Fruits is the delightful 2017 Japanese anime TV series which purrtains to the girls who purrform the supurr hero show to purrmote their town! One of the girls is Yuuki Aoyami (voiced by Haruka ishida) of the Hina Nectar Team! She lacks the esteem, but has the great talent, and around the town she often wears the darling cat – eared hoody paw with the purrint emblem!
Urara Meirocho is the charming 2017 Japanese anime series purrtaining to the girls who aspire to become divining fortune tellers. One of them is Chiya (voiced by Sayaka Harada), the naive yet peppy woodland girl with the lovely ears and tail, who wants to become an Uras in order to find her missing mom.
Her more serious friend Kon Tatsumi (voiced by Kaede Hondo) is often mistaken for the fox girl, due to the distinctive ribbons in her hair! During the White Kimono Festival In epurrsode 7 of Urara Meirocho, Chiya’s sake- fueled pheromones have the frisky feral affect on friends Koume Yukimi (voiced by Yuriko Kubo), Nono Natsume (voiced by Haruka Yoshimura) and Kon,.
This causes them to become the affectionate temporary kemonomimi! In epurrsode 8, Nono’s hair assumes the vulpine ear shape when she is possessed by the summoned fox spirit!
Outbreak Company is the terrific 2013 Japanese anime series about the faculty, staff, students & government officials at the alternate world’s school for otaku studies! Among the human, dwarf, elf, half elf & lizard folk is the artist wolf girl Elbia Hernaiman (voiced by Sumire Uesaka)!
Her lovely lupine ears & tail are quite appealing to her boss, Shinichi –  sensei, although her behavior is wild ‘n frisky during the full moon! In epurrsode 7, Shinichi – sensei has the lurid harem dream in which he is surrounded by the female characters, including Ebia, in which she is wearing flirtatiously the cat ears!
Costume ears appurr in Long Riders, the wonderful 2017 Japanese anime series about the girls who form the Fortuna bicyclist team! At times cyclist Hinata Saijo (voiced by Rumi Ookubo) wears the bunny ears & outfit whilst working at her purrents’ Chinese restaurant!
She also has the “cute sly fangs” look! The Alpaca Cycle Shop’s manager (voiced by Sayaoko Tojo) always wears the alpha hoody; and nd if that were not enough, another team is Cat Cycler, whose jerseys have the cute paw purrint & Neko silhouette emblem!
Oh my gosh, lastly but not leastly, we wish to shine the spotlight on the many catgirls and catboys in the official trailer for the forthcoming Cats movie which is directed by Tom Hooper and based upon the musical! Kawaii!
That is all for this month’s Celebrity Catgirl Spotlight, but it will shine again next month, fur shur! Nyow I will turn The Mew over to Trini-chan, who will begin our
comic book & manga mewsings, with her review
Konohana Kitan vol. 5
We are very fond of Sakuya Amano’s manga about the fox spirit girl attendants and their guests of all species at the Kononhanatei inn, a ryokan with hot springs between the worlds! Some of their fellow  kitsune characters are miko (shrine prestiess) and kenzoukou (celestial servants) at the shrines and other divine locations too!
It is the charming, bittersweet, modern slice – of – life  / occult fantasy tale which is rated OT for the intended older teen readers of ages 16+, purrhaps due to the bit of fan – service and the nonsexual nudity.
The main character Yuzo is one of the younger new employees who is so very cordial, sincere, and enthused.  Other recurring characters include attendants Natsume, Sakura, Shino, Ren, Kiri, Satsuki, her older sister Hiiragi, and Yae the geisha. There are amewsing & poignant situations betwixt them, the other town folk and the guests!
Originally published in Japan by Gentosha Comics, the English version was published here in the USA by Tokyo Pop. Priced at $12.99, volume 5’s 160 Black & White pages include chapters 22-26, plus the several whimsically anecdotal strips and the 15 pages of the ads, all sammiched betwixt the color covers.
It was translated by Katie McLendon, edited by Lena Atanassva, copy – edited by Massiel Gutirrez & Zac Romick, and in- chiefly edited by publisher Stu Levy; with the quality control by Risa Otsuka, graphic design by the technical & digital media assistant Phillip Hong, retouching & lettering by Vibrraant Publishing Studio; marketing by Kate Winters, and licensing by Akira Yanaka.
In this volume, Yuzo minds Yae-san’s cute widdle daughter Sakura, whilst the inn is visited by the winged dwarf spirit Sukunoa-Hikoa at the very hectic time. One of the guests is a minotaur! Later, Yuzo has some difficult decisions to make when the inn welcomes critically injured refugees from a disaster.
Then we are treated to the tale of Ren’s younger sister Momo who is the joken (apprentice miko) who incurs the tough training by the senpai Ayame and Hirage! We are also treated to the flashback to Yuzo’s younger days when she met the Yuki gonna (snowy woman) whilst being raised by purriestess Bikini-sama!
The art is rather beautiful with the very lovely characters, intricate garments and lavish scenery of the shrine and the inn! I am done, so now here is Tara-can to tell us about
My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic #79 & 80!
Arigato, nya! We love the My Little pony comics, which are so beautiful, faithful to the animated series, and – and fun for the readers of all ages, nya! It is hard to believe that IDW has been publishing these pony comics for seven years, nya!
They have the great stable of the artists, authors and – and editors, including this issue #79’s writer Sam Maggs, artist Toni Kuusisto, letterer Neil Uyetake, colorist Heather Breckel, editor Bobby Curnow, and – and assistant editor Megan Brown, nya
I loved Sam’s book The Fangirl’s Guide to the Galaxy, nya! This pony issue has the 20 page tale followed by the 8 pages of the ads, nya. I wish that all comics were published this way, with the tale uninterrupted by any of the ads, nya.
It is all sammiched between the choice of the 3 different covers: cover A by Toni cover B by Sara Richard, and – and the scarcer Retailer’s Incentive cover by Justasuta, nya. I have cover A, which depicts Apple Bloom with Mayor Mare, nya!
Now for the taste of the plot, nya! Amidst the purrepurrations for Ponyville’s anniversary celebration, Apple Bloom tries to distract the mayor at the school whilst other friends plan the happy, helpful surprise at her office, nya!
Meanwhile, Twilight Sparkle is flustered by Cranky Doodle’s grumpy negativity whilst they judge the auditions for the talent show, nya. The auditions include Rainbow dash, Rarity, Fluttershy, Bulk Biceps, Big McIntosh and- and Spike, nya!
There are the many other background ponies to identify too, although I could not find Applejack, but there is the special surpurrise appearance by a certain famous pony, but I should not further spoil the taste of the plot, nya!
Issue #80 has the same purrice, page count, and – and creative team, except that Megan is credited as the editor, Bobby is credited as the group editor, the RI cover art is by Trish Fortsner, the interior art and – and cover A are by Kate Sherron, nya!
In this fun issue the mane six ponies cosplay as the fantasy adventurers for Pinkie Pie’s Live Action Role Play (LARP) session into the Dragon Tower full of tricky traps to rescue Prince Bulk Biceps, nya!
Rainbow Dash is the fighter, Rarity is the cleric, Twilight Sparkle is the mage, Fluttershy is the rogue, and- and Applejack is the ranger in the scenario orchestrated by Pinkie Pie who is the game master, nya!
If they succeed in the mission, they will win the yummy five tier cake, nya! I particularly liked the large art panels, which include half- page pics, the full –  page pic, and – and the 2 two-page spur reads, nya!
Both issues #79 and – and #80 have the merrily bustling stand- alone tales at the brisk pace, with the beautiful color character, scenic and typographic art, nya! I particularly like the pony poses and – and expressions, so I will give them the grade of the “A”  as in Applejack, nya! That will conclude the pony report, so now here is onee-chan to tell us about–
The Unstoppable Wasp #10, nya!
Arigato, nya! The Unstoppable Wasp has been our favoritest Marvel comic for quite the while so we awaited bittersweetly issue #10 because it is the final issue, nya. It stars Nadia Van Dyne the orphaned Hungarian scientific genius daughter of Hank (Ant Man) & Maria Pym, nya!
Nadia was adopted by her step mom Janet van Dyne (The Wasp) and became the latest heroine known as The Wasp, nya!  She has fought the criminals and started the G.I.R.L. (Genius in Action Research Labs) group for the genius heroines who might impurrove the world, nya!
The diverse mutlicultural genius team includes Taina the mechanical engineer, Priya the biologist, Ying the chemist and Lashayla the physicist!  Janet, Mockingbird, Jarvis, Matt Murdock, and Taina’s sister Alexis have been helping them too.
Unfortunately, the conflicts have also included Nadia’s struggle with her own bipolar disorder, which has adversely affected her relationships. However, here have been joyful situations, such as the romance betwixt Ying & Shay, Nadia’s star – studded birthday party, her therapy and the inaugural G.I.R.L. Expo, nya!
Issue #10 was written by Jeremy Whitley, illustrated by Gurihiru, lettered by Joe Caramagna, edited by Alanna Smith and assistantly edited by Shannon Andrews, with the graphic design by Carlos Lao, and the cover art by Stacey Lee, nya!
We have met Jeremy at the comic book conventions and at the Free Comic Book Day festivities, nya! He also created / writes Princeless, Raven the Pirate Princess, and has written many other comics such as my Little Pony, Rainbow Brite, Vampirella Sea of Thieves, Thor vs Hulk, and the numerous other Marvel Comics, such as the forthcoming Freedom Foundation, nya!
Nadia, Janet and the girls have purrpared for the expo which features their discoveries and demonstrations, but Nadia and Janet were ambushed by villains Whirlwind and Fantasm whilst evil Monica Rappaccini, Seeker, Brilliance, Finesse and A.I.M. agents invaded the expo.A.I.M. agents invaded the expo, nya.
Meanwhile Mockingbird and Winter Soldier have battled Russian cyborg girls whilst searching for Nadia’s longly lost biological mother Maria Pym, nya! Picking up right where issue #9’s thrilling cliffhanger ended, the finale has the heroic, ingenious G.I.R.L. team striking back, and thusly the supurrb action & dialogue resume, nya!
The art is gorgeous, with the great poses, expurressions, compurrsitions, scenic detail, fonts, colors, FX and graphic narrative, with the poignant moments, exciting developments, and brief appearances by Tigra and The West Coast Avengers, nya! The West Coast Avengers series was great too but sadly it was recently cancelled too, nya.
Another wonderful aspect of this series are each issue’s two -page Agent’s of G.I.R.L. section in which Nadia intermews an awesome woman of STEM. In #10 she intermews Julie the environmental engineer & LGBTQ activist, nya! Then to top off the wonderful issue is Jeremy’s heartfelt message, so I will give this issue the “A plus” grade, nya! Now here is Becca to discuss-
The Stanley “Artgerm” Lau DC Poster Portfolio, nya!
Hai! Published by DC Comics, 12″ x 16″ trade papurrback is purriced at $24.99 in the USA, $34.99 in Canada, and it has 20 removable, framable full – color illustrations by artist Stanley Lau a.k.a Artgerm!
Born in Hong Kong and known internationally for his brilliant, purrolific art and design, he is also an instructor and co-founder of Imaginary Friends Studios!
He has done lots of fantastic illustrations for many books, magazines and comic books; and this is a collection of such images that have graced the covers of the various DC Comic books!
They include 3 images of Wonder Woman, 3 of Supergirl. 2 of Harley Quinn, 3 of Catwoman,1 of Batman with Catwoman and 1 of Batman with Wonder Woman, plus one apiece of Kara Danvers (Supergirl’s secret identity), Power Girl. Batgirl, Poison Ivy, Mera, Black Canary and The Huntress!
They are quite beautiful, dazzling, sexy and powerful, and I will heartily recommend this book to fans of the artist and those characters! That is all for our book reports, but now I will begin our
collectibles and toy talk, with my review of Hasbro’s
Star Wars: The Black Series Dr. Aphra action figure!
We like to collect the figures, statues and dolls of the favorite female heroines, anti-heroines and villains, so I was quite please dot purchase this lovely 6 in. action figure of the intergalactic archaeologist Doctor Chelli Lona Aphra!
She first appurrred in Marvel Comics’s Star Wars: Darth Vader #3 in 2015, in which she became a member of Darth Vader’s elite team, but she later quit working for him and starred in her own series!
The design, sculpting and painting of this 1/12th scale figure is quite meticulous and visually faithful to the comic book character, from her shifty gaze and shoulder – length Black hair to her seeming expression and electro-tattoo!
Wearing the Gray trousers, Black boots, Light Gray short – sleeve shirt, Reddish –  Brown vest, fingerless Brown gloves,  and low – slung Brown holster belt, she is accessorized by the removable goggled flying helmet and blaster pistol!
The details are quite splendid, such as the fabric folds and creases, pouch snaps, vest pockets, helmet seams, goggle lenses, belt buckles, pistol pins, and the strands of her hair!
She is very possible too, with the articulation in her neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, abs, hips, thighs, knees, and ankles. A display stand is not included, but she is balanced well enough to be posed without one, nya. Now here is Jen to discuss the
Marvel Legends Shuri and Rescue action figures!
Arigato. These two 1/12th scale action figures are part of the Build – A – Hulk wave of separately – sold figures, which also include War Machine, Rock Python, Union Jack, Beta Ray Bill and Loki.
Most of those include a piece needed to build a Hulk figure, of which the left leg is included with the 6 1/8 in. Shuri figure, and the torso is included with the 6 1/8 in. Rescue figure.
King T’Calla’s heroic genius sister Shuri, who has also worn the Black Panther guise, first appeared Marvel Comics’s Black Panther vol. 4 #2 in 2005. This figure repurrsents her appurrance in the 2018 Black Panther movie, in which she was meowrvelously portrayed by Letitia Wright.
This figure excellently captures the look and spirit of Shuri, from her braided coiffure bun, the distinctively dotted tattoo on her portraiture, and the Essekhs – like collar, to the coiled arm bands, different textures of her jumpsuit, sash, boots and the two removable “Vibranium” gauntlets.
Whereas Pepper first appurred in Marvel Comics’s Tales of Suspense #45 in 1963, the Rescue armor did not debut unto Invincible Iron Man Vol 2 #10 in 2009, and this figure repurrsents her appurrance in this year’s Avengers: endgame movie.
Since the 2008 Iron Man movie, Pepper has been portrayed purrfectly by Gwenyth Paltrow. The sexy sleek and powerful Mk. XLIX armor a.k.a Rescue, is a beautiful Indigo with hold Silver and Light Blue accents, piping, stripes and trim.
The helmet does not open to reveal her face, but the suit is accessorized by the drone until which snaps on to the back. Two versions of the drone are included, one that is closed and one that is open with splayed field generator panels.
Shuri & Rescue are faithfully designed, nicely sculpted & painted. Both are very possible with articulation in the neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, abs, hips, thighs, knees & ankles.
Display stands are not included, but both figures are balanced well enough to be posed without them. She is the fine addition to our collection, and has the purrominent spot upon the shelf beside the Iron Man 2 figure of Pepper.
Mike planned to review the new Hallmark Keepsake ornament of the refitted starship U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 from his all – time favorite movie Star Trek – The Motion Picture, which celebrates its 40th anniversary in December,
However, his high purraise  for the ornament became the long – winded ramble, so he has decided to spare the audience. Thusly, that will conclude this portion of The Mew, so nyow Petra and bunny will purrsent the
new additions to the Catgirl Island Mewseum of Art.
Arigato, nya! For those here for the first time, Galleries 1-8 of The Catgirl Island Mewseum of Art display images by Mike, whilst Guest Art Galleries 1-5 display images by other folks totally with their purrmissions, and Mike’s collaborative images with other artists can be found throughout the mewseum, nya!
The images include illustrations, photos and mixed medias, nya! Some of the images in the mewseum are sexy, and some of them might depict artistic nudity, but most are very tame, and none of them are the hentai / porn, nya.
On Catgirl Island’s official web site, the most recent pics will be the lowermost row of the cropped widdle “thumbnail” – sized portions of the pics in a gallery, and you have to click upon those to see the uncropped full pics, nya!
we have added Mike’s drawing of “Lindsey & Luzanne”, who are among the young heroes in Sharon Williams’s young adult / urban fantasy tale of Legacy Of The Gods: Wrath Of Ibeji, nya!
It involves the Yoruba mythology, nya!  Lindsey (on the right) and Luzanne (on the left) are 14 year old students at De Salle High School in New Orleans, where they became avatars of the Orisha deities, nya!
Originally from Jackson, Mississippi, Lindsey is the younger cousin of Antonio (one of the initial stars of Legacy of the Gods),  and is the latest avatar of Shango, the god of lightning and thunder, nya!
Luzanne is the Jamaican – American younger sister of Maybelle (another one of the initial stars of Legacy of the Gods) and the latest avatar of Ayao, the goddess of the air and sky, nya!
After that is Mike’s sketch of “Meowna Raion” who is among the NPCs in his monthly tabletop fantasy RPG The Adventures of Nystia Nightshade, nya! Meowna the asiatic were-lion girl was the first keepurr of the Nekonomnomnomnomnomicon book nya!
She and her husband Raouwl have the 2 daughters Madeliane and AnnaConda, nya. Anna and her husband Larry’s son Jonni is Nystia’s husband, nya! Born on June 29th, Meowna appurrs to be 40 years old but is actually 750, nya!
Then we have Mike’s pencil, Micron pen & Prismacolor pencil pics of “Jill Winner” who is another NPC in that game!
Born on March 3rd, Jill is the 66 year old grandmother bunny girl, although she looks to be half that age!
She is the semi-retired assistant manager of the riverside bistro & market when she is not gardening, baby sitting, attending concerts, or occasionally slaying the pesky evil zombies. Jill and her husband Jack are Jonni’s adoptive parents!
Nextly we have Mike’s “NekoVampi” pic, which is his chibi –  style pen & ink fan art of Vampirella, to commemorate her 50th anniversary in the comic books! Then in
we are proud to present 8 new pics by illustrator / musician / cosplayer Rebecca Brogden, who was the guest for our September 2009 Mew!
Rebecca used the pencil, pen & colored pencils upon the toned paper for most of these latest pics, such as “Dragon Moon” which depicts the alluring dragon girl who is observing the waxing gibbous moon!
After that is Rebecca’s pic of the “Dragon Friend”which depicts the cute widdle dragon who is perched upon the arm of the lovely faerie who is seated upon the mushroom! Nextly in “Succubus Smile” the sexy demoness in the tight corset & thigh – highs turns to wink at us!
That  is followed by the beautiful, brave blonde “Battle Mage” who seems to be in the combative predicament! We will cheer for her success in the battle! We will also try to cheer up the lovely yet sadly “Melancholy” fox girl!
We hope that her spirits will perk up when she is admired by the many friends in our mewseum!  Meanwhile, the “Summer Fun” is enjoyed by the peppy blonde catgirl wearing the high-waisted maillot as she poses with the beach ball by the shore!
Then we have another catgirl, who is quite adorable in her Red, White & Blue attire with her cute neko as they enjoy the festive “Fireworks”!
We are ecstatic to exhibit this very peppily cute and divinely gorgeous illustration of the Egyptian Cat Goddess Bastet by Valentina Roncari, who is quite the brilliant artist in Italy! Some of her exquisite art is available upon products for sale at her Page at the Redbubble store!
Lastly but not leastly, we are delighted to display the dynamic fan art of Yukito Kishiro’s “Battle Angel Alita” by artist / cosplayer / plushy doll maker Misty Hopkins, who was among the guests of the March 2008 Mew!
She is quite the avid fan of the Alita manga, anime and live-action movie! So, what do y’all think of the latest additions to our mewseum?
Kittrina, Catra and Clawdeen look so happy, purretty and cute!
I especially like the expressions, coiffures, and the garments’ fabric folds of the Lindsey & Luzzanne pic!
I think that the sketch of Meowna faithfully captures her likeness, details and spirit!
Misty’s Alita sketch reveals her great skill at characters’ lively expurressions, graceful poses, and the splendid fabric folds.
I like the curvilinear symmetry throughout the Succubus pic, from her wings, hair & face to her boobies, buttocks and tail!
The “Dragon Moon” pic has such richly vibrant colors, tightly purrcise lines, the subtle shading and the splendid textural detail, nya!
My favorite aspects of the “Dragon Friend” pic are the faerie’s bare midriff outfit and – and the widdle dragon’s happy expurresion, nya!
The “Melancholy” foxgirl has such sad beautiful eyes, and I love the soft furry White tufts of her  supple Black – tipped red ears!
The crisply tight light spill against the figure – defining lines put the girl in the sharpurr foreground focus in the “Summer Fun” pic, nya!
The “Battle Mage” has such the cool outfit with the hooded, off-shoulder, crisscross halter neck tabard with the alluring keyhole!
Mary Nyan:
The festive cuteness of the “Fireworks” pic is wonderfully adorable, from the swishy tail & petite fangs to the close hold & the ruffled skirt!
Bastet is so pretty, cute, playful, and ornately detailed with the playful pose and vibrant colors! Thank y’all for presenting the new art!
Petra & Bunni:
Doitashimaste, nya!
I am particularly fond of the— COMMON WHITE TAIL, NYA!
(the easily distracted catgirl with camera scampurrs after the dragonfly)
There she goes again, and so close to the end of the show too, nya!
