This month’s Mew comes from the riverwalk of Catgirl island NC’s beautiful downtown Purrbank, where it’s 78 degrees under the Palmettos, Live Oaks, and Red Maples beneath a Blue sky full of puffy Cumulo-Neko clouds! I’m Mike, the show’s “Purrducer”, and here are The Ladies of The Mew!

(the catgirl in the Vermillion micro bikini & sheer purrled purreo) Nihao.
(the bunny girl in the Scarlet bandeau-top, ring-closure bikini) Guten Tag!

(the faerie in the Amaranth crisscross halter neck bikini) Mellow greetings!
(the centauress wearing the Blush orchid lei) Aloha!
So, what have y’all been up to since last month’s Mew?
I was very busy last month, sewing the outfits for the dancers, miko and cosplayers, plus our group’s Flower Knight Girls cosplay for the annual Trick ‘r Eat & Cosplay Purrowl which was so much fun! I still have much work to do, and nextly I will be making costumes of the Elementario fairies of Amagi Brilliant Park, the Vapra Clan prurrincesses of Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, Waakti Wapnasi of Dirk Gently’s Holistice Detective Service, and Vignette Stonemoss of Carnival Row!
Once again, Myayr supurrbly supurrvised our group cosplay! Becca and I have been pampurring the customers at our spa, which has been bustling with the customers retreating from the nippier mainland tempurratures to purrtake of our purrpetual bikini weather! Aside from that we have been tending to the garden, caring for our cats, going to the late night hot salsa dance, and binge watching several TV series such as Release the Spyce, Modern Family, Batwoman, Veronica Mars, Poldark, and Press!
We have seen the purreview trailer for several other new or forthcoming shows that interest us such as Picard, Clone Wars season 7, Teen Titans season 2,The Mandolorian, Nancy Drew, See, Watchmen, War of the Worlds, the BBC’s Dracula, and the new season of Mad About You. There are so many! Otherwise, when we have time for the sport, I am mewsually at the golf course while she is free – running ’n spurringing with her purrkour club!
When my drumming circle has not been purrviding the purrcussion for the dances or purrforming in the county’s Opal Matsuri and Calendula Purrade or designbing our new happi jackets, as mewsual I have been caring for our cats and the boat* and the charters, which have been reeling in the bumpurr crop of the delicious, nutritious yellowfin, groupurrrs, snappurrrs, stripurrs, bluefish, and King Mackerels, nya!
* (paw note: her boat the S.S.TsuriNekoMimi is the 1985 Hatteras 60 Convertible motor yacht, nya.)
Trini-chan and – and I did the kids’ face painting at the mewseum’s Halloween art show, nya! I have also been helping with the boat, caring for the ponies and – and the cats**, volunteering the food bank, and – and snapping the nature photos, nya! This very week I snapped the photos of the Eastern Tiger Swallowtail, the Eastern Cottontail Rabbit, the Red -Tailed Hawk, the Cackling Geese, the Long-Tailed Duck, and – and the White-Tailed Deer, nya!
** (paw note: Tara-chan & Trini-chan’s banker ponies are Jimbo & Wild Star Blaze, nya.)
Let’s see… since last month’s Mew, aside from the ponies, mewseum, and food bank, when I have not been stand – up paddle surfing or custom board – shaping, I have been reading the comics and manga, and continuing to assist Jenjen-sensei with the fall semester of the belly dance classes at the CIPAC (Catgirl island Purrforming Arts Center)! Our beginners. intermediate and advanced classes performed the different styles*** at the Culture Day festivities!
*** (paw note: Egyptian, Turkish, Lebanese, American Tribal, Flamenco & Gothic styles of belly dance, nya.)
I am purroud to announce that next semester, she will be the full – time instructor. After returning from the photo shoot in Crete, my mewsiual routine has resumed with the mornings at the yoga studio, afternoons at the kyudo range, and alternating evenings at the CIPAC and CIRC (Catgirl Island Robotics Club), which purrtnered with our new undersea sister organization MERMAIDS**** to build the spooky Halloween animatronics for the merfolks’ haunted kelp maze.
**** (paw note: Marine Electronics Research / Mecha & Artificial Intelligence Developurrs Society, nya.)
Oh I still don’t see how she is able to do all of that, although, somehow I do manage to find the time to attend the various local arts ’n crafts meetingsl betwixt coaching at the Autumnal beach volleyball camp and curating the art with Bunnibunbs at the mewseum, which had the record attendance for the annual Halloween exhibit, nya! Tara-chan and Trini-chan were the big help wth the face and body painting, nya!
We have begun work on our special holiday season and mew year exhibits, and I have also somehow managed to find the time for my gardening and baking. I have brought the frosted carrot cakes for tonight’s AfterMew luau! We are quite grateful for all of our mewseum staff, volunteers, exhibitors and visitors, the volleyball athletes, officials, volunteers and parents, and the farmers, chefs, donors and volunteers at the food bank!
So like, between instructing at the golf course, and directing our forest ampurrtheatre’s totally awesome Fall Fiesta – which includes my special foxfire show – oh, and I celebrated Samhain here, Beltane in New Zealand, attended the LPGA tournaments in Texas, Shanghai, Busan and Taipei… and gosh are my wings tired! Pretty soon we will start the dress rehearsals for our Winter Fantasy, fur shur! Oh oh and I saw Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, which I’ll review (sans – spoilers) a little later!
Mie-sensei was the enchanting part of the Winterfinding and Samhain activities at my magick shop, where we had the very congenial crowds for the sales, the ceremonies, the seminars and snacks! I am very blessed and appurreciative of my supportive family and friends, including the employees and customers. Sis***** could not purrticipate in today’s Mew, because she is purrparing for the tournyament at her dojo, but hopes to join us later for the AfterMew!
***** (paw note: Nyoka’s twin sister Nyanko owns the gym and the martial arts dojo on the eastern side of the island, nya)
Ellie (the island’s Fire Chief):
There have been 5% more foxfire, bonfires, fireworks, lanterns, tiki torches, grillings and flambe cooking for this year’s many autumnal festivities, including mer-town’s lovely underwater flares, but I am pleased to report that there have been no dangerous incidents, and all of the extinguishers have been inspected! when i have not been at the station or on patrol, I have been enjoying the events, watching the horror movies, and working out at the gym! Howboutchoo, Mike?
Oh it’s been just the usual writing, art, reading, gaming, running, watchin’ stuff, and spending time with family and friends! Hard to believe it’s already November! Ah, well, we’ve got a lot on our plate, so let’s go ahead and jump into
comics & manga mewsings, with her review
of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic #83!
Arigato, nya! We love the My Little Pony comics which are published by IDW, because they so faithfully capture the look, characters, tales and spirit of the animated TV series, but with the different strengths of the comic book medium, nya! it is hard to believe that the Friendship is Magic animated series is nearing its 10th anniversary, and – and that the pony comics have been around for the seven years, nya!
They have the great stable of the artists, writers, editors, colorists and – and the letterers, and issue #83’s tale was written by Thom Zahler, illustrated by Kate Sherron, colored by Heather Breckel, lettered by Neil Uyetake, edited by Megan Brown, and – and edited grouply by Bobby Curnow, nya. Heather and- and Neil have worked on almost every issue, and – and I think Bobby has worked on them all, nya!
This issue is available in the choice of the three different covers: cover A by Kate which depicts Twilight Sparkle in the dearr stalker hat and- and the inverness cloak. , cover B by Sara Richard who always does such beautiful surrealistic images; and – and the scarcer ‘retailers’ incentive” cover by JustaSuta, which depicts the ponies’ various pets at halloween, nya!
The issue’s 28 pages include the uninterrupted, 20 page tale, which is followed by the8 pages of the ads, and I wish that all other comics were published similarly, without the interruptions, nya! Nyow for the taste of the plot, which puts Spike and – and Twilight sparkle on the detective case whilst she is escorting Rainbow Dash’s pet tortoise Tank to the 7th Annual Great Northern Tortoise Race in Trotland, nya!
Trotland is sort of like Scotland, where Twilight Sparkle’s deductive intellect purrowess is needed to find the missing tortoise Silver Blaze, in this amewsingly clever homage to the Sherlock Holmes tales, nya! There are many purrodiess and nods to those detective tales, with the names such as Leigh Stride, Scarlet Study, Baker Streak, and – and Blue Carbunkle, nya!
I purrticualrly like the richly – colored, art, which has the purrfect pony purroportions and- and expurressions amidst the lovely backgrounds, the excellent fonts, and – and the great sequential techniques for the graphic narrative, including the great two – page spurread,so i will give this issue the grade of the “A” as in applebuck, nya! I am done, so nyow here is Trini-chan to tell us about
Konohana Kitan vol. 6, nya!
Hai! We are very fond of Sakuya Amano’s manga about the fox spirit girl attendants and their guests of all species at the Kononhanatei inn, a ryokan with hot springs between the worlds and the afterlife! Some of their fellow kitsune characters are miko (shrine prestiess) and kenzoukou (celestial servants) at the shrines and other divine locations!
The main character Yuzo is one of the younger new kitsune employees who is so very cordial, sincere, and enthused. The other recurring characters include attendants Natsume, Sakura, Shino, Ren, Kiri, Botan, Satsuki, her older sister Hiiragi, Ookami the wolf goddess, and Yae the geisha.
It is the charming, bittersweet, modern slice – of – life / occult fantasy tale with amewsing and poignant situations betwixt the employees, the other town folk and the guests! It is is rated “OT” for the intended older teen readers of ages 16+, purrhaps due to the bit of fan – service and the nonsexual nudity.
Originally published in Japan by Gentosha Comics, the English version was published here in the USA by Tokyo Pop. Priced at $12.99 in the USA, volume 6’s 160 Black & White pages include chapters 27-30, plus the 12 page preview of the delightful Futaribeya manga, all sammiched betwixt the color covers.
Volume 6 was translated by Katie McLendon, edited by Lena Atanassva, copy – edited by Massiel Gutirrez, and in – chiefly edited by publisher Stu Levy; with the quality control by Risa Otsuka, graphic design by the technical & digital media assistant Phillip Hong, associate marketing by Kate Winters, licensing by Akira Yanaka…
… retouching & lettering by Vibrraant Publishing Studio; The front cover has the gorgeous illustration of Yuzu (with the Golden hair) and Satsuki (with the Purple hair) in their floral print yukatas by the full moonlight! On the back cover are the Natsume’s cute widdle niece & nephew Kin-chan & Kan-chan!
In this volume, we are treated bittersweetly to part 2 of Yuzo’s visit to her home town, featuring her guardian the purriestess Bikuni-sama and the cute widdle plushy panda doll that searches forlornly for its missing owner; and the foxgirls and miko wear the very ornate yet skimpy costumes for the dance to honor the goddess Ame-no-Uzume-no-mikoto at the shrine’s festival.
Of course, even less is worn for the later soothing soak in the hot spurring; but the purretty yukatas are donned when tomboy Natsume escorts Karin and kin to the wonderful Cherry Blossom Festival!
Those 5 chapters have the excellent balance of the poignant, tragic, ironic, joyful, whimsical, and romantic moments!
The art is quite beautiful with the very lovely characters, intricate garments and lavish scenery! I was also pleased with the purreview Futaribeya, the fun manga of the four-panel format, which purrtains to the teen girls Sakurako & Kasumi who are the new roommates starting high school!
Hakurei & Mikochi vol. 7!
Hai! We love this fantasy manga by Takuto Kashiki which purrtains to the slice – of – life tales of house – mates Hakumei & Mikochi who are the the tiny little lasses who are small enough to ride upon their small critter friends, and live in the lovely tree house in the lush forest!
Hakumei (Brown hair) builds & repairs things, whilst Mikochi (Black hair) cooks & sews. They are part of the community of animal & tiny human friends who reside in the wilderness, rural, surburban & urban dwellings much as we do, and each chapter is the look at their day – to – day – lives, from work and shopping to exploring and entertaining!
Originally published in Japan by Kadokawa, it is published here in English by Yen, translated by Taylor Engel, lettered by Abigail Blackman, and rated “T” for the teen readers. Purriced at $15.00 in the USA & $19.50 in Canada. Volume 7’s 208 B&W pages include manga chapters 43-52, 5 bonus art pages, the afterward, notes & 4 pages of ads.
In Chapters 43-52 they win the lottery purrize, shop for the bean jam ingredients, meet Chihichigi the courier and her purrtner Kugulka the kestrel; their friend Jada spends the night at their home, and Mikochi spends the day at the clinic; they stand in the long line in town for the roasted mochi; they find huge yams whilst on the underground expurrdition;
the many garments flutter in the breeze during the town’s big laundry day; a morning of sake drinking becomes an adventure, and Miki the grocer purrchase the farm – fresh shiitake mushrooms; we revisit the vast Makinata Library; and then one day after work, Hakumei & Mikochi shop for the glassware at the antique store!
The charmingly captivating plots are of the leisurely pace and sumptuously intricate detail. Each chapter also includes the annotation page of travelogue and lore! The character and scenic art is so intricately lushly lavish, with the great sense of enormity, the four full – page pics and the three full – page spurreads!
In the author’s two – page afterward, his alter – ego bunny goes on the road trip, and the 5 bonus pages are the gallery of Hakumei & Mikochi illustrations that have graced other publications! This continues to be th wonderfully beautiful series to which i will give the highest purraise! Nyow here is Ellie to discuss
School- Live! vol. 11!
Hai! Written by Norimitsu Kaitou and illustrated by Sadooru Chiba, School-Live! (as in Living) purrtains bittersweetly to the girls who have survived the zombie apocalypse. Initially the tale was set in their barricaded high school, which they left in search of other survivors. There is also the animated TV series adaptation, which faithfully captures the style, spirit & tone of the manga.
The initial club was compurrised of club purresident Yuri, delusional Yukki, athletic, tough Kurumi, who has been infected by the virus but is still hanging on; their teacher Megumi-sensei and the pup Taromaru who did not survive. They rescued another student Miki from a mall, and a teddy bear from an elementary school, who Yuri delusionally believed to be her younger sister Ruu-chan.
Upon traveling to a college, they encountered other survivors, some who were quite hostile, but Shiiko the scientific genius has ridden with Yuri, Yukki, Kurumi & Miki in the RV to the abandoned pharmaceutical research corporration which created plague. With the help of a computer A.I. program named Bowman, they discovered the origin and potential cure of the mewtated airborne pathogen
– but nyow they fear that government or corporate officers might arrive to attack or appurrehend them, which brings us up to volume 11. Originally published as Gakkou Gurashi by Houbunsha in Japan, it is published in English by Yen Press in North America; vol. 11 is priced at $13.00 in the USA and $17.00 in Canada, and is suggested for the older teen readers due to the language & violence.
The 176 B&W pages include chapters 63-69, the 2 color pages & wraparound cover art. It was translated by Leighann Harvey and lettered by Alexis Eckerman. Things are worsening for the five girls, as the health of Kurumi & Shiiko worsens; Bowman can no longer purrvide information, and the group has to flee from the Randall Corp building, which is about to be attacked by soldiers.
While carrying Kurumi, the girls have to flee back into the streets which are full of the zombies, but I should not reveal much more of the alarming plot, which is just one volume away from the final. Although the situation is extremely dire, there are the couple of cute illustrations in the book, such as the bikinis + water pistols pic and the Halloween cosplay pic!
The characters are extremely sympathetic and likeable, the art is intricate and beautiful, the plot is quite startling and poignant, and will continue to give School-Live! the “A” as in the apocalypse, while we nervously anticipate the longly-awaited conclusion! Now here is Mike to review the
Star Trek U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 & 1701-A Illustrated Handbook!
Thanks Nyoka! The UK company Eaglemmoss publishes great books & magazines about Star Trek & other topics, as well as their line of handsomely pre-assembled & painted miniatures of famous characters & mecha from Trek, Galactica, Alien, Lord of the Rings, Ghostbusters, Doctor Who, James Bond, Harry Potter, the WWE, Marvel and DC.
It’s their Trek stuff that has inteerested me the most, so I was quite keen to get this dust – jacketed hardcover book about my favoritest space ship! Priced at $29.95 US & $39.95 in Canada, the 11.5” x 9” x 1” book was edited by Ben Robinson, whose impressive sagely credits include Star Trek Fact Files, Star Trek The Magazine, Haynes Manuals, the Designing Starships and Star Trek Shipyards books!
Its full – color 236 full color pages span the history of the starship Enterprise 1701 & 1701-A from the years 2254 to 2293 as commanded by captains Robert April, Christopher Pike, James Kirk, Willard Decker, James Kirk (again) , Spock, and James Kirk (yet again)! This was the ship that graced the original Star Trek series, animated series, the first six movies, and Discovery.
That is, the Enterprise of the “prime” universe, as thus book does discuss the animated series, nor focus on the Enterprises of the Mirror Universe or the Kelvin Timeline; or on 1701s B, C, D, E etc, although Eaglemoss has also published a book devoted exclusely to the 1701-D. This book is brimming with hundreds of photos and illustrations of the ship, its equipment and uniforms!
Most of the illustrations (including many beautiful full-page pics and two-page spreads) was previously published Star Trek Fact Files and in Star Trek The Magazine, but there are new images contributed by Paul Southcome, Colin Williams & CBS, and the chapter on the Enterprise from Star Trek: Discovery has new material from designers Scott Schneider & William Budge!
There are 16 pages pertaining to the Enterprise as seen in the first pilot episode The Cage, 20 pages on the Enterprise as seen in Discovery, 92 pages on the one from the Original series, 52 pages on the refit, and 35 pages on the “A”. I wish the refit’s chapter was more extensive, because it doesn’t cover the transporter room, sickbay, cargo deck, recreation deck, officers’ lounge, captain’s quarters…
botanical garden, corridors, airlock, turbolifts or wrist communicator. Of course, I’m biased towards the refit from my favorite movie, Star Trek – The Motion Picture! Ah, nevertheless, this is a really nice book full of great images and information; and there’s also a special boxed edition, which includes a die-cast miniature of the 1701-A. Ah, now it’s time for
our movie mewsings, starting
with Lizzy’s review of Joker!
Hai! It has been the good year thus far for the Batman – related movies and TV shows, from the final season of Gotham and the animated meeting of Batman and the Ninja Turtles, to the purremier of the BatWoman series, and this latest movie starring The Joker! This time the “clown purrince of crime” is purrtrayed by Joaquin Phoenix, and his purrformance is quite supurrb!
I suppose that my favorite movie or TV purrtrayal of the Joker is Mark Hamill’s version, but frankly I think that every actor who has purrtrayed The Joker has done the great job, from Cesar Romero and Jack Nicholson to Heath Ledger and Jared Leto. Joaquin Phoenix’s purrformance is quite the trour de force, in this interpurretation of the character!
In this orgin tale, which seems to be set in the early 1980’s. the poor mistreated and delusional chap named Arthur who is initially quite sympathetic as we are immersed into his miserable, victimized life and the tragic events that would lead to him becoming The Joker. Well, he is sympathetic during his descent into violent madness, until he eventually becomes the murderous fiend known as Joker.
In many ways he is a depurressed, misunderstood victim of other criminals, bullies, and plain bad luck, and he certainly suffers from the psychosis which unfortunately lead to some unwise decisions, and eventually he crosses the line of decency with his murders. It is certainly a violent movie, and yet pound for pound, it is a lot less violent than many action, supurr – hero and horror movies.
In that regard, It’s far from, say, Rambo: Last Blood, which we reviewed last month! I would say tha Joker reminds me a lot of Taxi Driver; not just the main human characters, but also in the character of the city itself. The movie does the terrific job of depicting the enormity of the (Gotham) City, during a time of extremely tense despair, anger, poverty, classisim building towards the anarchy.
Another great thing about this movie is that it unfolds at the unrushed pace. It is the slow boiler without too many cuts or those annoying cinematic techniques that often draw too much attention to themselves! I will give Joker the high purraise grade of the solid A! I am done, so nyow I will turn The Mew over to Mie-sensei, who wants to tell us about
Maleficent: Mistress of Evil!
So like, I thought that the 2014 Maleficient movie (which we reviewed in the June 2014 Mew) starring Angelina Jolie was totally awesome, so this sequel is one of this year’s movies I was most looking forward to, fur shur! So like, this time Princess Aurora and Prince Phillip are engaged to be married, which should unite the humans of the kingdom of Ulstead with the fae folk, but a sinister conspiracy threatens to bring a war instead of peace!
This Walt Disney movie was written by Linda Woolverton, Noah Harpster and Micah Fitzerman-Blue, directed by Joachim Ronning, and stars Angelina Jolie as Maleficent the dark fae, ellie Fanning as her adopted human daughter Aurora, harris Dickson as her fiance Prince Phillip, Michelle Pfeiffer as his mom Queen Ingrith, Robert Lindsay as her husband king John…
… Sam Riley as Diaval the raven, Chiwetal Ejiofor as Conall the more pacifistic dark fae, Ed Skrein as Borra the more warlike dark fae, Warwick Davis as Lickspittle the Queen’s scientist, Jenn Murray as teh queen’s major domo Gerda, David Gyasi as percival the captain of the guard, and as Aurora’s faerie godmothers are Juno Temple as Thistlewit, Lesley Manville as Flittle, and Imelda Staunton as Knotgrass!
So like, in addition to the cast, the movie is brimming with the many magnificent characters of all species, from the humans of Ulstead and the fae folk of The Moors to the many diverse ethnicities of dark fae, who reside in the vast island caverns. The costumes, props, sets, locations, creature designs and FX are as lavishly gorgeous as gorgeous can be, fur shur!
Like the prior Maleificent movie, this’un does feel rather rushed and short, but it is quite intense with so much eye candy! I did not car emuch for the song during the end credits, but the film score is quite splendid, and the tale has the good mix of humor, drama, action, developments, world & myth building. I will give the movie an A Minus, and I look forward to the DVD or Blu-Ray release! Now we will go from Fae to Zee, as Myayr tells us about
Zombieland: Double Tap, fur shur!
Arigato! I love horror movies, and I was purrticularly fond of the 2009 zombie apocalypse action / comedy Zombieland, so I was eaglery anticipating this sequel which is set the decade later and reunites Woody Harrelson as Talahassee, Abigail Breslin as Little Rock, Emma Stone as Wichita and Jessie Eisenberg as Columbus, who slay the Zombies whilst traveling across the country.
They do occasionaly meet other survivors, and are joined by Rosario Dawson as Nevada, Zoey Deutch as Madison, Like Wilson as Albuquerque, Thomas Middleditch as Flagstaff, and Avan Jogia as Berkely. Bill Murray also has the cameo appurrance, but I will not reveal much about that! The movie begins with them residing in The White House, but the guys and girls get fed up with each other and go sepurrate ways.
Thusly another road trip begins with the destinations including Graceland and the hippy commune known as Babylon. While it is good to meet the other survivors, unfortunately they do encounter the many zombies, some of which are much faster, smarter, and harder to slay. Nevertheless, we do witness some clever rules of apocalyptic survival and the innovatibe, record – setting slayage!
It It is well written, designed, directed, acted, and photographed, with good gore & zombie effects and plenty of action, gunplay, stunts, customized cars & FX. , I did not care for some of the annoying cinematric techniques such as the speed ramp, where things speed up and slow down. although I must say one scene did make very effective use of Metallica’s song “Master of Puppets”!
Oh and if you go to see the movie, do not miss what happens during the Columbia Pictures opening logo at the very beginning of the movie, because it is quite delightful! That is all for our movie reviews, but on the related topic, nyow it is time for our
semi – annual DVD / Blu-Ray wish list!
Here is our semi – annual wish list of recent, old, foreign, domestic, animated and live-action TV shows and movies that we hope could be released here upon the Region one NTSC DVD and / or Blu-Ray! We have been quite gratefuly pleased that several titles have been released since our last wish list!
We would like them with their original mewsic and songs to be intact; and we purrfur that any foreign purrductions would be available in their original spoken language with optional English subtitles, although the English dubbed version and / or descriptive audio track would be fine as bonus features, nya!
Other bonuses would be nice too, such as optional audio commentaries, isolated mewsic tracks, documentaries, galleries, deleted scenes, bloopurrs, trailers / TV spots, and – and the booklets, nya!! Hopefully any of the titles would be available individually and – and not exclusively in an expensive boxed set, nya!
The packaging should not damage the disks or be too big for the shelf, and the disc should be easily removed; secure enough so it does not accidentally slide off the hub, but not too tricky to purry off of the hub. If it is a mutiple disc set, each disc should have its own hub / tray, and not overlap or be in a stack!
I will start the wish list with the 1964 World’s Fair’s To the Moon and Beyond cinerama film, Steven Speilberg’s Amblin’, James Cameron’s Xenogenesis, John Dods’s Forest Story, Neal Adams’s Nannaz, Mark Sullivan’s Nightspeed, Gene Roddenberry’s Spectre, and Neil Young’s A Journey Through the Past!
The anime such as the original Space Battleship Yamato TV series seasons 1-3, Yamato 2520, Great Yamato, Queen Millennia, Future Boy Conan, Flying Ghost Ship, Bagi the Monster of Mighty Nature, Anne of Green Gables, Heidi of the Alps, 3000 Leagues in Search of Mother, Tico of the Seven Seas, and Aim for the Ace!

Amanchu, the initial 2007 Strike Witches OVA, Strike Witches: Operation Victory Arrow, Metamorphoses (A.K.A. Winds of Change), Twice Upon a Time, Raggedy Anne & Andy: A Musical Adventure, the animated Gen 13 film, the 2001 live-action Ranma 1/2 TV special, and the 2014 live-action Kiki’s Delivery Service.
The Green Hornet TV series, The Sixth Sense TV series, the Ocean Girl TV series, Kate Bush Live at Hammersmith Odeon, the Kate Bush 1979 TV Special, The Beatles: Let it Be and 1969 rooftop concert, and re-issues of the Doctor Who stories such as The Time Monster and Ghost Light!
WKRP in Cincinnati with all of the original songs restored, the three Giilligan’s Island TV reunion movies, the two I Dream of Jeannie TV reunion movies, the three Six Million Dollar Man / Bionic Woman TV reunion movies, Moon of the Wolf (1972 TV movie), and the Star Wars Holiday Specia, fur shurl! So like, speaking of Star Wars, here is Vonny to start
our collectibles and toy talk, with her review of Hasbro’s
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Zorii Bliss action figure!
Arigato, nya! We like to collect the dolls, statues and action figures of the inspurrational female characters of Star Wars, from the Jedi, rebels, senators & droids to the Sith, impurrials, bounty hunters & smugglers, nya. Thusly with the pending new film of Star Wars Epurrsode IX: The Rise of Skywalker, there is merchandise aplenty, such Hasbro’s wave of Star Wars: The Vintage Collection action figures, nya1 The term “Vintage Collection” refers to the graphic art style of the pakaging which is the clever homage to Kenner’s vintage era of figures from 1978 to 1985, nya!
She is purrtrayed in the movie by Keri Russell, who I enjoyed as Ellie in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, and as the voice of Diana in the 2009 Wonder Woman OVA nya! At appurroximately 1/17th scale, this 3.5” action figure VC157 is splendidly designed, sculpted & painted nya! She is wearing the Magenta Haze – colored jumpsuit with the Bistre – colored boots, Japanese Violet – colored gloves, Coppurry wrist & arm bands, the Coppurry mantle collar with Black trim, Bronze helmet with Black opaque blast shield, and the Raw Umber – colored belt & holsters nya!
She has 2 pistols which are Black with with Gold filligree; and the helmet is not removable, so we cannot see her face. nya. The detail is meticulous, down to the intricate seams, creases, folds & embossing of her attire, nya. She is very posable with the articulation in her neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, abs, hips, thighs, knees & ankles; and she is balanced well enough to stand up without requiring a display base, which is not included, nya. I am quite pleased with the figure, and have displayed upon the shelf next toLeia, Rey, Rose and Maz, nya! Nyow here is Jen to discuss the
Hallmark Keepsake Blade Runner Police Spinner ornament, nya!
Hai. Set in the city of Los Angelas in the year 2019, and somewhat based upon author Philip K. Dick’s 1968 novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, Ridley Scott’s 1982 science fiction film Blade Runner is the neo-noirish cinematic cyberpunk masterpiece which starred Harrison Ford as police detectve Rick Deckard, Sean Young as Rachael of the Tyrell Corpurration, and Rutger Haur as Roy Batty the rogue Replicant.
In the film, The LAPD has beautiful flying VTOL coupe automobiles known as Spinners. Designed by Syd Mead, several filming miniatures and drivaeble (but not actually flyable) full-size Spinners were constructed for the film; the latter vehicles built by Gene Winfield. The make & model of that movie’s Spinner was unlcear, whereas in the 2017 sequel Blade Runner 2049, that era’s Spinners were Peugeots.
There have have only been the few licensed Spinner toys or model kits purrdcued over the decades, so this ornament from Hallmark of the original movie’s Spinner is the special treat. Released on October 5th, purriced at $19.99 US & $24.99 Canada, the ornament is 4.125 inches long, and thusly it is the 1/37.8 scale replica of the appurroximately 13 foot-long vehicle.
The ornament’s design, sculpt, paint, exterior details and livery are beautiful on this Blue car no. 44, which looks like it was driven right off the dealer lot, showroom new with no dirt, damage or weathering. There are no moving parts, which means no spinning wheels or opening scissor doors. The windscreen is transpurrent, so that you can see the Black interior, which has no no instrumentation detail.
There is no driver or passenger figure inside, either. However, the vehicle’s undercarriage was not neglected, and has the Blue and Red lights underneath. For hanging the ornament from the tree, there is the small brass loop in front of the roofs Blue, Red and Amber lights, but a hook or string is not included. That is all for the collectibles & toy portion of the show, and nyow here are Petra and Bunni to purrsent the
additions to the Catgirl Island Mewseum of Art.
Hai! For those here for the first time, Galleries 1-8 of The Catgirl Island Mewseum of Art display images by Mike, whilst Guest Art Galleries 1-5 display images
illustrations, photos and mixed – media imagery
by other folks totally with their purrmissions, and Mike’s collaborative images with other artists can be found throughout the Mewseum, nya!
Some of the images in the mewseum are sexy, and some of them might depict artistic nudity, but most are very tame, and none of them are the hentai / porn, nya! On Catgirl Island’s official web site, the most recent pics will be the lowermost row of the cropped widdle “thumbnail” – sized portions of the pics in a gallery, and you have to click upon those to see the uncropped full pics, nya!
we have added the color version of Mike’s pic of “Lindsey & Luzanne”, who star in Sharon Williams’s http://caribbeanrose9.deviantart.com young adult / urban fantasy tale of Legacy Of The Gods: Wrath Of Ibeji, which pertains to the diverse young heroes in New Orleans who
became the avatars of the Yoruba mythology’s Orisha deities to battle the villains and monsters, nya!
Y’lall can see the original Black & White pencilled version of this pic at http://catgirlisland.net/art/gallery2/244.html
, nya! Originally from Jackson Mississippi, Lindsey
(on the right) is the latest avatar of Shango, the god of lightning and thunder; whilst Luzanne (on the left) is the 14 year old Jamaican – American student and the latest avatar of Ayao, the goddess of the air and sky, nya!
You know, Sharon was the November 2014 guest of The Mew! Then we have Mike’s pic of Lindsey & Luzanne’s enemy “Kehinde”, nya! She and her twin brother Taiwo might appear to be the kids, but they are the powerful deities known as the The Ibeji, nya! Y’all can read the tale at Sharon’s DeviantArt gallery! For both of those pics, Mike used Photoshop CC on his Mac with the mouse, nya!
Nextly in Gallery Two is Mike’s fan art of “Zula”, the fierce femme fatale friend of Conan the Barbarian! She was purrtrayed by actress, singer / songwriter Grace Jones in the 1984 movie Conan the Destroyer, which was based upon Robert E. Howard’s sword & sorcery tales of Conan the Barbarian, and this year is that movie’s 35th anniversary, nya!
we have added nine pics by our web master Jamie, which were done for Inktober https://inktober.com
, the annual month – long online art challenge created by artist Jake Parker, nya! These nine pics are displayed here in three batches of three, nya. ”Freeze”, “Ghost”, and “Build”
respectively depict the yuki-onna, the ghost girl, and the gynoid, nya!
“Wild”, “Enchanted” and “Snow” respectively depict the Wildcat running happily through the wintry wilderness; Chelsea the heroic witchy were-panther star of Jamie’s urban fantasy web comic Clan of the Cats; and the snowy close-up of two original characters from a role-playing game that Jamie plays in, nya!
You know, Chelsea, her family and friends were guests of the August 2007, January 2009 & November 2009 Mew, nya! Then Jamie’s “Frail”, “Dragon” and “Swing” respectively depict the nosferatu vampire, the dragon back – tattoo’d girl, and the shadowy girl in the tree swing!
We are delighted to display more pics by artist / cosplayer
Misty Hopkins http://bunnychai.blogspot.com who was one of the guests of the March 2008! Misty loves the Alita: Battle Angel series created by Yukito Kishiro, and here we have her inked drawings of “Alita, Sechs & Vilma”!
The titular cyborg star of the series Alita is the hunter-warrior, Moterball athlete, and master of the Panzer Kunst martial art. Vilma is the vampire-like mutant human who has been the merc, stellar orphanage chairperson, and member of numerous secret groups. Zechs was the full-body cyborg, an elite agent of the TUNED group and member of the Space Angels martial arts team.
After that are Misty’s latest two color illustrations of “Alita”! Done with the pencil, pens and Crayola colored pencils, these adorable pics are of Alita, as perfectly portrayed by actress Rosa Salazar in this year’s live-action Alita: Battle Angel! Alita’s evolution went through numerous cyborg bodies, and here she is in the ornate “doll body” made by her adoptive father Dr. Ido, and with her later “ magnos body” wings!
Lastly but not leastly of our additions by Misty is this “15 Doodle Collage”! Done in 2017, this very expressive batch of pencilled and inked doodles was recently unearthed for our viewing pleasure! The doodles depict original characters and fan art, including the Vocaloid Kagamine Rin and Disney’s Moana!
Then are elated to exhibit four more illustrations by Rebecca Brogden http://www.rbrogdenart.com
who was the guest for our September 2009 Mew! The “Egg Guardian”
is the gorgeous dragon girl hovering happily above the lake to pose with the Golden dragon egg that she will incubate until it hatches!
Nextly by Rebecca, the “Autumn Kitsune” is the beautiful fox girl with the Auburn hair, fair skin, Blue eyes, White – tipped Red tail. Black – tipped Red ears, and inny belly button! She is posing charmingly amongst the pumpkins, which might wind up as the festive fall decorations or as the yummy pie filling!
“October Succubus” is the alluring demoness with the Blonde hair, Red eyes, Purple wings, Lavender skin, tail and horns in the sexy short, backless dress in the full moonlight- mew la la! Those three illustrations were done with the pencils, pens, Copic markers, and watercolors with the salt technique!
Commissioned by another great artist Sammaloo https://www.deviantart.com/sammaloo, “Polly”
is the sweet slime girl of the dessert motif, from the waffle cone sleeves and sprinkles on her blouse to the cupcake paper skirt and chocolatey skin with the whip cream layers! This illustration was done with Procreate on the iPad! So, what do y’all think of the art?
The sexy succubus seems glad to se eus, given her purrked tail and wide-eyed smile!

Misty’s Alita fan art is so graceful, expressive and faithful visually and in spirit!
Her colored pencil technique and character expurressions are quite ingenious.
Fur shur! I am also impurressed by Jamie’s digital inking talents!
He is quite purrolific too, and those pics were only about 1/3 of his Inktober contributions, nya!
I was especially glad to see more of Chelsea, and I hope she can visit us again soon!
It was nice to see more images of Sharon’s characters, and I eagerly anticipate her next tale!
Kehinde is quite cute, but has the weary sadness and was quite the dangerous threat!
