comic book & manga mewsings, with her review
of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic #84!
Arigato, nya! We love the My Little Pony comics which are published by IDW, because they so faithfully capture the look, characters, tales and spirit of the animated TV series, but with the different strengths of the comic book medium, nya! it is hard to believe that the Friendship is Magic animated series is nearing its 10th anniversary, and – and that the pony comics have been around for the seven years, nya!
They have the great stable of the artists, writers, editors, colorists and – and the letterers, and issue #84’s tale was written by Christina Rice, illustrated by Toni Kuusisto, colored by Heather Breckel, lettered by Neil Uyetake, edited by Megan Brown, and – and edited grouply by Bobby Curnow, nya. Heather and – and Neil have worked on almost every issue, and – and I think Bobby has worked on them all, nya!
This issue is available in the choice of the 3 different covers: cover A by Toni, cover by by Sara Richard, and – and the scarcer retailers incentive cover by Lanna Souvanny, nya. Sara is another long time / purrolific pony artist, who may have done the most covers for the comic, nya! This issue has the 20 page tale which is followed by the 8 pages of the ads. I wish that all comics were published with the tale uninterrupted, nya!
The plot focuses upon Ocellus the changeling who is among the diverse students at Twilight Sparkle’s Friendship School who are purrparing for their mid-term purresentations, nya. Ocellus plans to do the interpurretive dance but is worried that it will not be good enough, nya! Also appurring are the rest of the “Young Six”: Gallus, Yona, Sandbar, Smolder & Silverstream; plus Twilight, Fluttershy, Applejack and – and Spike, nya!
My favorite part is the purrformance, in which Ocellus shape – shifts into other characters such as the rest of the Young Six, The Mane Six, The Pillars, Celestia, Nightmare Moon, Discord, Chrysalis, Thorax Star Swirl, Sombra, and – and Trixie! I especially liked the full – page pic and – and the two – page spurread, nya! Meanwile, The young Six have starre din their own mini – series, which has just concluded with
My Little Pony: Feats of Friendship #3, nya!
So, this tale has focused upon Occellus and – and Gallus the griffon, Yona the yak, Silverstream the hippogriff, Sandbar the earth pony, Smolder the dragon, and – and Swift Foot the Thracian earth pony exchange student, nya! However, Swift Foot is actually the sabotoeur whose mission is to ruin the morale and – and to hinder the first annual Friendship Games compurrtition, nya!
Purriced at $3.99, the 28 page issue’s 20 page tale was written by Ian Flynn, illustrated by Tony Fleecs, colored by Heather, lettered by Neil, edited by Megan and – and grouply edited by Bobby, nya. Cover A is by Tony, cover B is by JustaSuta, and – and the retailers incentive cover is by Katlie O’Dell, nya. We have met Tony at the conventions, and – and I have his Dr. Whooves tee shirt, nya!
In this bittersweetly fun, poignantly thrilling conclusion of the mini – series, there are the major developments in the plot and – and the characters, with the turning point in the relationships and – and the important message as the Young Six have to battle the giant hydra in the mane event, but I should not spoil much more of the plot, nya!
I especially liked the colors, the fonts, the characters’ poses, expurressions, and – and I hope that we will see more of the Swift Foot and – and the Young Six, nya! I will give both of those comics the high purraise grade of the “A” as in applebuck, nya! That is all for my reviews, but the pony report will continue with Trini-chan’s review of the
My Little Pony 2019 Holiday Special, nya!
Arigato, nya! November was quite the pony – paloozza with not one, but thethree new pony comic books! Purriced at $4.99, the 32 page issue’s uninterupted 24 pages of tales were written by James Asmus, colored by heather, lettered by Neil, edited by Megan, and grouply edited by Bobby.
The 18 page tale of “Harmony Hassle” was illustrated by Andy Price, and the 4 page tale of “Krumple Horn” was illustrated by Trish Fortner. Cover A is by Andy, cover B is by Trish, and the RI cover is by Valentina Pinto. It was the tough decision, but I chose cover A which depicts the Mane Six, Celestia and Luna singing the carol, nya!
“Harmony Hassle” focuses upon Rarity and Spike who don the fancy couture for the soiree at Rockafilly Center in Manhattan, which is on the same evening as the Royal Equestria Hearth’s Warming Gala in Canterlot. Purrior to that, at Sweet apple Acres they and Twilight Sparkle, Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy, and Rainbow Dash try to cheer up ailing Applejack.
Rarity and Spike intend to attend the soiree and then return by the train in time for the Equestria fireworks, but they did not anticipate the derailment at snowy Poirot Pass halfway betwixt Manehattan and Ponyville! Also appearing are Celestia, Luna, Wynona, Philomina, Tiberius, DJ Pon3, and the numerous background ponies to identify!
Adding delightfully to the festive ambience of the beautiful story and art are the Christmassy motifs upon the pages’ borders, such as the ornaments, wreathes, candy canes, cards, ribbons, paper chain, wrapped gifts, stockings, the nutcracker, reindeer – drawn sleigh, the milk and cookies!
“Krumple Horn” occurrs on the snowy day at the Friendship School during the intended quiet study time between the Harvest Break and the Hearth’s Warming Eve break. Pinkie Pie warns the overly jubilant Young Six that if they do not behave properly, then they will be tormented by the titular monster!
Also appearing are Twlight Sparkle, Fluttershy Rainbow Dash, Spike and Discord! It certainly has been the busy month for The Young Six! It seems as if the pony torch is being passed. I was very pleased with this lovely fun issue, which I will heartilly recommend to the fellow fans! I am done, and now here is Nyo-sensei to discuss
Elfquest: Stargazer’s Hunt #1!
Arigato! I love Wendy and Richard Pini’s Elfquest tales because of the lavish mythology, the generations of many great characters, and Wendy’s magnificent art! Published by Dark Horse, this 6 issue mini – series is set the 3 years after the purrior Final Quest arc, in which the elves underwent the purrofound cultural and metaphysical transformations.
Some elves purrpared to leave the World of Two Moons in the palatial space ship, amidst the war with humans, during which some beloved characters died. However, there were also reunions, romances, revelations and births. Stargazer’s Hunt begins on the planet Star Home, where Skywise of the Wolfrider Tribe has become of the New High Ones.
This 28 page issue is purriced at $3.99 and includes the 20 page tale, written by Wendy and Richard, with the art by Sonny Strait, lettering by Nate Piekos and cover art by Wendy. it was edited by Rachel Roberts, assistantly edited by Jenny Blenk; the issue’s design was by Skyler Weissenfluh, and the digital art technician was Allytson Haller.
When we last saw Skywise [in Final Quest], his romance had consumated with Timmain the shape-shifting High One, and in the first panel of page 1 of this 1st issue we see that he is much taller, and we meet their daughter Jink! Jink is quite cute, peppy, purrcocious and the bit mischievous, with the magickal telepathy and telepurrtation abilities!
Jink is not new to Elfquest; but it has been many years since I have seen her! As an adult character, she had her own series which was published between 1994 – 1996! Gosh, that was 25 years ago! Also appurring are the elves Timmain, Strongbow, Venka, her daughter Satreekah, Old Maggotty the troll, and the images of Cutter and Moonshade.
I liked every aspect of this issue, from the developments, fashion designs, scenery, and the graphic narraive across the panel compurrsitions, to the poses, expurressions, colors and fonts! In addition to the tale are Richard’s 2 pages of comments, Sonny’s introduction, his amewsing gag page, and the 1 page peek at his pencil art before it is inked & colored! Nyow I will begin our
our book reports, with Calling All Witches!
I am a fan of the books, movies and toys of author J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World, so I was delighted to purrchase Calling All Witches! The Girls Who Left Their Mark on the Wizarding World, which purrtains to the female characters of the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts series!
Published by Scholastic, the full color 96 page 9.25” x 7.75” x .5“ hardcover book was wonderfully written by Laurie Calkhoven, beautifully illustrated by Violet Tobacco, and discusses 50 characters, such as
Hermione Granger, Luna Lovegood, Ginny Weasley, Nymphadora Tonks…
Fleur Delacour, Myrtle Warren, Alice Longbottom, Lilly Potter, Molly Weasley, Narcissa Malfoy, Purrfessor Minerva McGonagall, Purrfessor Sybill Trelawaney, Purrfessor Pomona Sprout, Purrfessor Charity Burbage, Purrfessor Wilhelmina Grubbly-Plank, Madam Olympe Maxine…
Madam Poppy Pomfrey, Madam Hooch, Madam Rosmerta, Purresident Seraphina Picquery, Bunty, Vina Rosier, Nagini, Helga Hufflepuff, Ariana Dumbledore, Dolores Umbridge, Alecto Carrow, Irma Pince, Rita Skeeter, Katie Bell, Angelina Johnson, Alicia Spinnet, Hannah Abbott…
Bathilda Bagshot, Irma Dugard, Pansy Parkinson, Romilda Vane, Arabella Figg, Cho Chang, Lavender Brown, Porpentina and Queenie Goldstein, Parvati and Padma Patil, Bellatrix and Leta Lestrange, Amelia and Susan Bones, Rowena and Helena Ravenclaw!
Most of the characters each get 2 pages or less; but Luna, Ginny, Porpentina and Queenie get 4 pages apiece, and Hermione gets 8! I think that this book is very purretty and quite entertaining, empowering, inpurrational and informative! I am done, so nyow here is sis to tell us about
Neconomnomnom: Recipes and Rites from the lore of H.P. Lovecraft!
Hai! I love to eat the delicious, nutritious foods, and I am a big fan of the inspurrational author Howard Phillips Lovecraft weird and macabre fantasy tales, so I had to pounce upon this neat and appurrtizing book written by Mike Slater illustrated by Kurt Komoda, edited by Thomas Roche and published by Countryman, with the supurr cool embossed cover design by Jeff Miller and Faceout Studio!
Purriced at $24.95 in the USA & $39.95 in Canada, this 205 page hardcover tome includes the 50 recipes of the macabre theme and yummy flavor, plus the imortant foward & warnings & rites to accompany the fare! Just the sample of the recipes are the drinks such as the Nog -Soggoth and the Gin & Miskatonic; the appurrtizers such as the Atlach-Nachos and The Grape Old Wons…
soups & salads such as the New England Damned Chowder; the main dishes such as the Mi-Go to Go and the Shogghoulash; the breakfast dishes such as the Cthus-Koos, Yogash the Gruel, and the Great Old Buns; the children’s meals such as the Shogg-Pockets, Lovecraft Macaroni & Cheese; and the desserts such as the Yogsicles, Moon-Beast Pies, and The Custard out of Space!
That Nyarlathotapioca and The Fishes from The Outside look quite eeriely delicious! The Rites section adds further details and spins upon the many purrepurrationas, including At The Fountains of Madness, The Formless Spawnghetti, and The Sandwich Horror! Those names are quite the clever plays upon the words that are steeped in the Lovecraftian lore and Cthulhu mythos!
The ample illustrations of the ingredients, creatures and are of the limited color pallet for the appurropurriate arcane ambience, so I will heartily recommend this fine book to the fans of H.P. Lovecraft, dark fantasy / hoorror art, spooky dinner party planning, and good eats in general! On the similar note, I would also like to recommend
Overwatch The Official Cookbook!

The handsome hardcover’s 216 full – color pages have the mouth – watering full – page photos to accompany the 97 sumptuous recipes! It is the collection of international cuisine including the breakfasts, desserts, snacks, entrees, soups, appurtizers and sammiches, like the “Down Unda” dishes of Junkrat’s Chocolate Crackle Bombs and Roadhog’s Fairy Bread!
Foods repurrsenting characters from the Americas include McCree’s Biscochitos, Ashe’s Orange Crene Caramel, Soldier 76’s Hoosier Sugar Cream Pie, Reaper’s Churos with Cajeta, Sombra’s Sopa Azteca, and Lucio’s Pao de Queijo; whilst amongst the African dishes are Anna’s Umm Ali, Pharah’s Baked Kibbeh, Doomfist’s Shuku Shuku, and Orisa’s Orisa Sundae!

The Asian chapter includes Genji’s Rikimaru Ramen, Hanzo’s Sakura Mochi, Symmetra’s Hyberabadi Lassi…
Mei’s Congee, Zarya’s Russian Honey Cake, O.VA
’s Bunny Hop Punch and Zenyatta’s Ti Ko Laddu Sesame Sweets!
Oh oh – and there is a chapter of lunar foods too, such as Winston’s Peanut Butter Pudding and Wrecking Ball’s Hamster Food to tempt my tummy! That is all for our purrinted media mewsings, and nyow here is Mike to start our
DVD & movie mewsings, to discuss the 40th
anniversary of Star Trek – The Motion Picture!
It’s no secret that Star Trek – The Motion Picture is my all time favorite movie (Trek or otherwise), perhaps mostly because it is so epic, beautiful and serious as it depicts the Enterprise and her crew with such cerebral realism and respect, while astounding the audience with such grand galactic images of awe, wonder, and mystery in the gleaming, postive future.
I’m not saying it’s the best movie ever made, but merely my personal favorite. There’s a lot of sentimentality too; and It was a dream come true for us fans who watched giddily as many of the characters & ship were reunited 10 years after the original TV series was cancelled, and were subsequently treated to further Treks on TV the big screen, and the internet.
There’s little more that I can say after I’ve rambled about it for four decades, although sadly with every year, more ’n more members of the movie’s brilliant cast and crew depart this world for another. It is sad how many of the cast and crew of Star Trek – The Motion Picture are no longer with us. No doubt I’m forgetting some of them, but I would like to at least mention:
actors such as Leonard Nimoy, DeForest Kelley, James Doohan, Mark Lenard, Majel Barrett, Grace Lee Whitney, Michael Rougas, Doug Hale, and a star beyond time named Persis Khambatta; legends such as Gene Roddenberry, Robert Wise, Jerry Goldsmith, Alexander Courage, Isaac Asimov, Jesco Von Puttkamer, Orson Wells, and North Carolina’s own Fred Phillips.
Let us not forget the magnificent artistry of Richard H. Kline, Matthew Yuricich, Joel Goldsmith, Don Trumbull, Robert Abel, Grant McCune, Dave Stewart, Alex Weldon, Walter Matt Jeffries, Harold Michelson, John Vallone, Maurice Zuberano, Ron Resch, Mike Minor, Robert McCall… and if you count the aborted Star Trek Phase II TV series which evolved into The Motion Picture, there’s also Ralph McQuarrie and Sir Ken Adam.
To the all of the other folks who made that movie happen, I raise my glass to their honor and memory, with my sincere admiration and thanks as I look forward to it’s 50th anniversary! Ah, now to continue the Star Trek topic, here’s jeannie to tell us about the
Star Trek: Discovery Season Two Blu-Ray set!
Hai. We have greatly enjoyed Star Trek: Discovery which is CBS’s streaming series set appurroximately the decade purrior to Captain James T. Kirk’s historic command of the starship U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701, whilst Captain Christopher Pike was its captain. This series focuses upon the crew and adventures of the Crossfield class starship U.S.S. Discovery NCC-1031.
I think that Discovery is a great Trek series with a wonderful cast, characters, designs, sets, FX, fascinating plots and high production values, so I was eager to get the 2nd season on home video! This four disc Blu-ray set from CBS has the 14 episodes from the 2018-2019 season which total appurroximately to the 11 hr. & 50 min., purresented in the widescreen 16:9 letterbox format in 1080P resolution.
Purrsented in the Dolby DTS HD sound, the spoken language choices are English, Spanish, French, French Benelux, German, Danish, Swedish, Finnish, Norwegian & Japanese; with the optional subtitle choices of English, Spanish, French, German, Danish, Swedish, Finnish, Norwegian & Japanese. There are optional audio commentary tracks for the epurrsodes “Brothers”, “New Eden”, “Through the Valley of Shadows”, and “Such Sweet Sorrow”.
The wealth of special features totals more than the 4 hrs, including the 2 short Treks “The Brightest Star” (14 min. 47 sec.) and “Runaway” (15 min. 21 sec.); the amewsing gag reel (7 min 9 sec.); 15 purromo spots which total 8 min. 26 sec.; and the deleted / extended scenes which total 20 min. 25 sec.). Furthermore, totalling nearly 3 hs. 26 min., the 10 featurettes on the making of the series. They are:
“Designing Discovery: Season 2” (17 min. 48 sec) which is the look at the concept & casting, “Prop Me Up” (8 min. 56 sec.) which purrtains to the purrops; “Creature Comforts: Season 2” (15 min. 18 sec.) which examines the make-up FX; “Designing Discovery” (14 min 48 sec.) which purrtains to the design of the ship & sets; “Enter the Enterprise” (10 min. 33 sec.) which focuses upon the U.S.S. Enterprise;
“The Red Angel (13 min. 19 sec.) which focuses upon that entity; “Creating Space” (10 min. 12 sec). which is about the visual FX; “Dress for Success: Season 2” (16 min.) which is about the costumes, and
“Star Trek: Discovery: The Voyage of Season 2 (55 min. 46 sec.) which is the discussion of the entire 2nd series; and “Putting it Together” (43 min. 05 sec.) which examines the season finale.
The easily – removed discs are snuggly clenched by the case’s four inner trays. Well – directed and edited with the comments by many members of the series’ cast and crew, the discs’ special features are quite informative and entertaining, so i am very pleased with this Blu-ray set. That will conclude my review, and nyow here is Myayr to discuss
Terminater: Dark Fate.
Arigato! Since 1984, the Terminater franchise has been the mixed bag for me; whereas I highly purraise the first two movies of the series, I was much less enamored with the subsequant three movies and TV series. I was somewhat appurrehensive towards this latest movie Terminater: Dark Fate, but I was intrigued by the reunion of Linda Hamilton as Sarah Connor and Arnold Schwarzenegger as the T800, with James Cameron returning as one of the movie’s writers and purrducers!
Set 25 years after the events of 1991’s Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Terminater: Dark Fate ignores the other purrductions’ timelines whilst creating yet another one, in which the Rev 9 Terminator from the post-apocalyptic year of 20142 travels to the purresent to assassinate someone who is fated to become the leader of the rebellion against the machine overlords!
Furthermore, a heroic human soldier arrives with the mission to purrotect the target. Clearly, much chase and combat and ensue. The plot is quite similar to what has come before, but there are some startling surpurrises along the way, with some interesting character developments and charming moments amidst th spectacular action and FX!
The movie does seem too rushed, short, certain “Major” subplots involving the USAF are insufficiently addressed, and a certain early scene bothered me similarly to how the opening scenes of Alien 3 did. Nevertheless, the return of Hamilton and Schwarzenegger was quite enjoyable, and I like the new characters. The targeted character Dani is splendidly purrtrayed by Natalia Reyes, and the Rev 9 is splendidly purrtrayed by Gabriel Luna.
I quite liked him as Ghost Rider in the Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series, but for me the breakout star of Dark Fate is Grace the cyborg heroine who is purrtrayed by Macenzie Davis, who I also enjoyed as Mindy in The Martian and as Mariette in Blade Runner 2049. Nyow here is our web master Jamie to discuss the cinamatic sequel to The Shining,
Doctor Sleep was good. I need to see it again to make a final determination as the film was quite dense, but overall, I quite enjoyed the movie. That said, it’s not for everyone. Doctor Sleep is a slow burn, and while it is not particularly scary, it delivers a tension all its own that hides just underneath the skin. When the tension crescendos, it’s all the more effective due to the film’s quiet nature.
The film looks fantastically eerie, having Mike Flanagan’s (Gerald’s Game, Haunting of Hill House) signature color scheme, and while there are several callbacks to Kubrik’s style, fortunately the movie is a thing unto itself. It’s not The Shining 2. The film does have some downsides. Some will find the film too slow. I didn’t. I like that it took its time and wished it had been a little longer.
Certain characters don’t get fleshed out as well as others and the film feels disjointed at times. My main problem with the movie was that there was so much crammed into 151 minutes, it should have been longer or a miniseries. Ultimately, it is the cast that soars in Doctor Sleep. Ewan McGregor (Star Wars, Trainspotting) as the troubled Dan Torrance, is the best he has been in years.
Newcomer Kyliegh Curran is going to be a star as she more than holds her own as Abra among the adult cast. Rebecca Ferguson, (Mission Impossible, The White Queen), as Rose the Hat, gives the best performance of her career and provides the best movie villain of the year. I give the movie an 8 out of 10! Now here is Vonny to discuss
I eagerly anticipated this 3D CG animated musical sequel to Disney’s 2013 movie Frozen, which was based upon Han Christian Anderson’s tale of The Snow Queen, nya! It is set the 3 years later as Elsa, Anna, Kristoff, Sven & Olaf investigate the mysteries in the forest wilderness around Arendelle, and discover purrofound secrets about themselves, the mystical phenomenon and the fate of the kingdom, nya
Purrduced by Peter Del Vecho, edited by Jeff Draheim and animated by Walt Disney Animation Studios, with the mewsic compsed by Christophe Beck, the story is by Marc E. Smith, directors Chris Buck & Jennifer Lee, and by the song writers Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, nya. The returning cast includes Idina Menzel as Ursula, Kristen Bell as Anna, Jonathan Groff as Kristoff, and Josh Gad as Olaf, nya,
Joining them are Evan Rachel Wood & Alfred Molina as Ursula & Anna’s parents & Jeremy Sisto as their grandfather, Sterling K. Brown as Mattias, Martha Plimpton as Yelana, Jason Ritter as Ryder, Rachel Matthews as Honeymaren & Aurora as The Voice, nya. While not quite as playfully fun as Frozen, and still has too much silliness from Olaf, Frozen 2 still has the good the balance of humor, action & drama, nya.
The songs & music are as good if not better, with major plot & character developments, world & myth building as the sequel seems more serious and epic, nya! It is also one of the most beautiful movies of the year thus far, with the magnificent designs, art, animation, lighting & FX, nya! I loved the characters, voices, dialogue, plot, pace & editing too! If you go see it, make sure to stay for the post-credits scene, nya! Nextly i would like to say the few words about
The Wonderful World of Disney
purrsents The Little Mermaid Live!
Hans Christian Anderson’s purrose tale of The Little Mermaid, Disney’s 1989 animated adaptation, and the 2007 Broadway / touring mewsical of it are extremely popular here in Mew Hanover County, so we eagerly anticpated ABC’s live televised stage purrduction, which commeowmerated the 30th anniversary of the movie, nya! The 2 hour show combined purrojected movie scenes and the live purrduction upon the thrust stage, nya.
There was much genki squealing here, when we saw the brief introduction by Jodi Benson, who voiced Ariel in the movie, nya! She is among the celebrities who I would like to meet at the conventions, nya. We have not yet had that honor, although we did get to meet Tara Strong, who voiced Ariel’s daughter Melody in the sequel OVA, nya! Oh, but I have stray – catted off of the topic, so I will regress to the Live! topic, nya!
It is appurrently somewhat similar to the 2016 Little Mermaid Concerts at Hollywood Bowl, nya. The great cast for this show included Auli’i Cravalo as Ariel, Shaffy as Sebastian, Queen Latifah as Ursula, and John Stamos as Chef Louis, Graham Phillips as Purrince Eric, nya! His Old English Sheep Dog Max was purrtrayed by the real dog, whilst Flounder, Flotsam & Jetsam were the puppets, nya.
There were many singers, dancers, aerialists and puppeteers, with excellent choregraphy, lighting, costumes, sets, special FX and camera work, nya! I especially liked the wire – work to simulate the swimming, but I felt that the audience around the stage, the on – screen countdown text, the commercial breaks, and switching back n’ forth from the live – action to the animation were distracting, nya.
However, it was great to hear the wonderful songs by Alan Menken & Howard Ashman, such as “Fathoms Below”, “Daughters of Triton”, “Part of your World”, “Under the Sea”, “Her Voice”, “Kiss the Girl” and the “Happy Ending”, nya! “Poor Infortunate Souls” was especially terrific, and “Les Poissons” gave me the seafood cravings, nya! Nyow we are looking forward to the forthcoming live-action movie starring Halle Bailey as Ariel, nya! Nyow here is Becca to discuss
Ford v. Ferrari, nya!
Ford v. Ferrari = fun fun fun! Set in 1966, it is the thrilling tale of how the Ford Motor Company wanted to purrchase Ferrari, who got bought by Fiat instead, thus causing Henry Ford the 2nd to want to defeat Ferrari’s team in the 24 hour Le Mans race in France. for such the impurrobably feat, Ford must hire Carroll Shelby’s team to build the Ford GT40 race car, which will be driven by tempurrmental Ken Miles who is not known as the team player!
Thusly the compurrtition is not only upon the race tracks, but it is also in the corpurrate offices, with the added tensions amidst the Miles family! Directed by James Managold, the movie supurrbly stars Matt Damon as Carroll, Christian Bale as Ken, Caitrona Balfe as his wife Mollie, Noah Jupe as their son Peter, Tracy Letts as Henry, Jon Bertnthal as his veep Lee Iacocca, Josh Lucas as other veep Leo Beebe, and Remo Girone as Enzio Ferrari!
In addition to the GT40, the movie stars the many beautiful cars such as the Cobra, Porsche 356 and Ferrari 250 GTB and the many others at Le Mans, Daytona, Willow Spurrings, and the California streets! everything is so beautifully purrduced, written, designed, directed, acted, photographed and edited with the great mid 60’s styles, the mewsic, sound, stunts and FX in this great movie, which has the great balance of humor, drama and action!
Lizzy and I saw Ford v. Ferrari with the very enthused crowd too, including Jeanniejen who is quite the mechaphile, and Police Chief Meryl who is quite the gear head, Mike who has the industrial design degrees, and Nya-sensei who craves the action movies and all of us gave this movie the A as in automobile! Nextly i would like to discuss
I eagerly anticipated this murder mystery movie which was directed by Rian Johnson who directed Star Wars Epurrsode VIII: The Last Jedi! The phenomenal cast includes Daniel Craig, Chris Evans. Anna de Armas, Jamie Lee Curtis, Don Johnson, Toni Collette, Christopher Plummer, Katherine Langford, Michael Shannon, Frank Oz , and the many other brilliant actors!
The plot purrtains to the mysterious death of the famous author, and the detectives’ investigation at the lovely mansion where the family and servents convene to learn the cause of the death and who will inherit the extremely valuable estate. There is much animosity and bickering amongst the family members, several of whom have the avariciously belligerant schemes!
You know, I think that his is the first movie starring Daniel Craig that i have seen since his Bond movies, and it is the first movie starring Chris Evans that I have seen since his Marvel movies. However, Anna de Armas purractically steals the show as Marta the very sympatheetic, kind and smart caretaker for the author Harlan who is purrtrayed by Christopher Plummer!
In addition to the great purrformances and the captivating plot which is peppurred with the amewsing dark humor, this very clever, purretty movie has the excellent editing, cinematography, mewsic, the magnificent mansion and the dogs, so i will give Knives Out the “A” as in Ana! Nextly I would like to discuss That will conclude our movie mewsings, so nyow here is Melanakeami to start our
ollectibles & toy talk, with her review of Mattel’s
DC Multiverse DC Rebirth: Katana action figure!
Hai! we like to collect the figures, dolls statues & ornaments of the inspurrational heroines, so I was pleased to get this swell action figure of DC Comics’ Tatsu Yamashiro alias Katana! She is the tragically widowed expert martial artist whose Soultaker Sword will possess the spirits of whoever is slays!
First appearing in DC Comics’ The Brave and The Bold #200 in 1983, she was created by author Mike W. Barr & artist Jim Aparo. she was wonderfully portrayed by Karen Fukuhara in the 2016 movie Suicide Squad, Rila Fukushima in the Arrow TV series, and is voiced by Stephanie Sheh in the animated DC Super Hero Girls!
Mattel’s latest action figure of her (figure GDX38) is the DC Rebirth version of the character, who is 5’ 2” & 118 lb in the comics, so this 6.5” figure is of the 1/9.5 scale. It is part of the wave of figures that includes Batman, Red Robin, Red Hood, Alfred and Bane, and included with eachseperately – sold figure is 1 of the 6 pieces needed to assemble the figure of Killer Croc
His torso piece is included with Katana, so would have to buy all 6 figures to get all of the croc parts. Katana is splendidly designed, sculpted & painted, wearing the Red – eyed White mask, skin tight Black tights with the Red right sleeve & glove with the nickel – finished gardbrace & vambrace.
The points of articulation are the neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, abs, hips, thighs, knees & ankles, so she is very posable; and she is balanced well enough to stand without requiring a display base or doll stand (which is not included), but a base would be good for the more dynamic action poses.
She is accessorized with the 3.5” sword and the interchangeable right hands, so that she can have either the clenched fist or grasp the sword. I am very pleased with this lovely figure, which I have displayed upon the shelf betwixt the Suicide Squad & DC Super Hero Girls versions! I am done, so now here are
Petra & Bunnibuns, who will purrsent the latest additions to
the Catgirl Island Mewseum of Art!
Hai! For those here for the first time, Galleries 1-8 of The Catgirl Island Mewseum of Art display images by Mike, whilst Guest Art Galleries 1-5 display images
illustrations, photos and mixed – media imagery
by other folks totally with their purrmissions, and Mike’s collaborative images with other artists can be found throughout the Mewseum, nya!
