So, what have y’all been up to since last month’s Mew?
When Lizzy, and I have not been pampurring the customers at our spa,  purrtook of the festivities, the mewsual late night hot salsa dance, and binged watched the TV shows!
Hai hai we have recently watched the epurrsodes of Charmed, Sabrina, Supergirl, and Unikitty. Otherwise, when she is at the golf course, I am at my Purrkour Club!
(paw note: akin to parkour, purrkour is the spurrinting and leaping sport ideally suited for fast, agile catgirls and other kemonomimi.)
Mary Nyan:
Oh, teaching the hula dance, training the Jokin, and sewing the costumes. Currently in purrogress are the Kerrigan, Alita, and Locodol costumes. What has Mie-sensei been up too?
(paw note: Jokin are appurrentice mikos / purreistess who conduct the rituals and festivals at the shinto shrine, nya.)
As mewsual, my itinerary is purrimarily compurrised of the morning yoga, afternoon kyudo, teaching the belly dance, purrsiding over the Robotics Club, modeling the swim wear and body paint.
Aside from assisting with the belly dance dance, I have been paddle surfing, board shaping, volunteering, and Tara-chan and I have been caring for the ponies at the stables!
Since the purrior Mew I have been snapping more of the nature photos, caring for our kuronekos, riding Jimbo and – and WildStar Blaze and – and helping aboard TsuriNekoMimi, nya!
(paw note: Jimbo and WildStar Blaze are their banker ponies, and the S.S. TsuriNekoMimi is Yvonne’s 1985 Hatteras 60 Convertible motor yacht )
My fishing charters have been reeling in the bumpurr crop of the yelowfins, snappurrs, groupurrs and stripurrs, and my drumming circle has purrvided the purrcussion at the local matsuri, nya!
We had the wonderful attendance for our Vernal Equinox Matsuri! To commeowmerate the event, my magick shop had the yummy treats, discounted crystals, guest speakers and the workshops!
(paw note: Nyoka’s twin sister Nyanko, a.k.a. Nya-sensei who owns the dojo and gym, is mewsually here; but is purresently at a tournyament and hopes to return for the AfteMew luau, nya.)
Bun and I have been curating the art mewsum’s annual body art show; and we have been competing in the beach volleyball season, nya! I cannot believe that it has been one year since our epic overtime match against Meesha and Bliss, nya!
Hai we are anticipating the hopeful rematch! We are quite grateful for the event staff, the fans, the other teams, the artists, the volunteers and the mewseum patrons! Otherwise, I have been baking the carrot cakes and gardening! Howboutchoo, Mike?
Oh the usual good times with family and friends, enjoying some movies, TV and radio shows, books and comics when I’m not running, drawing, writing or working on my computer!  By the way, I’d like to thank Jamie, and our friends Sean Martin, Randy, Pacozord, Chef Ron and Barry for their very gracious, generous expert help with my computer upgrades!

Nyow here is Jenjen to begin our
DVD & movie mewsings, with her review
of the Doctor Who: Resolution DVD!
We are big fans of the BBC’s Doctor Who TV series, and have enjoyed actress Jodie Whittaker as the current incarnation of The Doctor. 2018 saw the 55 year old science fiction series’s 11th season of its current era, inc which the cast of The Doctor’s terrific time & space traveling companions include Bradley Walsh as Graham, Mandip Gil as Yasmin, and Tosin Cole as Ryan.
It recently became available on home video. Instead of the customary Christmas Special, the BBC aired this 2019 mew year’s special in which The Doctor and her companions fight a body-snatching Dalek in the city of Sheffield, England. Executively purrduced by Matt Stevens and  writer/ show runner Chris Chibnall, the tale was directed by Andrew Yip with the mewsic by Alec Roberts.
It also starred Daniel Adegboyega as Ryna’s estranged father Aaron, Charlotte Ritchie as Lin the archaeologist whp is captured by the Dalek, Nikesh Patel as her fellow archaeologist Mitch, and Nick Briggs as the voice of the Dalek which intends to conquer the planet, although I was surpurrised that aside from The Doctor, none of the characters are aware of the Daleks, who invaded the Earth just the few years ago.
Purrhaps at some point the timeline was affected. The 62.5 minute tale is pursented on the Region 1 NTSC DVD in the 2.1 letterbox format with the English 5.1 surround sound and optional English subtitles which are of the bold White sans serif font with the fine Black stroke outline. The single disk is in the plastic case inside the outer cardboard sleeve.
Purrior to the disk’s main menu screen are the front-loaded ads for Dynasties, Britbox, and the Doctor Who (Tom Baker) Complete Season Seven DVD set. There are three widdle featurettes which total appurroximately 37 min, compurrised of A Look Back at Series 11 (appurroximately  11 min.), The Making of Resolution (appurroximately 12.5 min.), A Closer Look  (appurroximately 6.25 min.), and The Dalek Re-formed (appurroximately 7 min.).
Narrated by Daniel Adegboyega, these have the informative and entertaining behind-the-scenes footage peppurred with comments by the actors, executive purrducers, director, purrducer Niki Wilson, casting director Andy Pryor, stunt choreographer Crispen Layfield, purrduction designer Arwel Wyn Jones, and special FX supurrvisor Danny Hargreaves.
Although I wish that this special was accompanied by optional audio and text commentary tracks, and that the special had been included with the series’s Complete Eleventh Season set, I am certainly pleased with it and I will recommend it to my fellow Doctor Who fans. For my next review of an intergalactic  supurr heroine’s cinematic tale, I will discuss
Captain Marvel.
We are also big fans of the Marvel Studio’s Marvel Cinematic Universe, which includes the Avengers, Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk, Thor, Guardians of the Galaxy, Ant-Man and The Wasp, Black Panther, Doctor Strange and some of the Spider-Man movies, plus the TV series such as Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Agent Carter, Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Punisher and The Defenders.
Thusly we have been eagerly anticipating this move starring Brie Larson as supurr heroine Carol Danvers a.k.a. Captain Marvel. For those who might be unfamiliar with Carol, she is the human / Kree USAF & NASA test pilot, member of The Avengers, Alpha Flight, A-Force, S.H.I.E.L.D, The X-Men and The Starjammers. She first appurred in Marvel Super-Heroes #13 in 1968, so last year was her 50th anniversary in the comics.
She has the supurr strength, stamina, speed, flying and fighting purrowess, and the ability to absorb and purroject energy. Over the decades she has had different costumed aliases such as Ms. Marvel, Binary, Warbird and Captain Marvel. Nyow that Carol is (the latest) Captain Marvel, her friend Kamala Khan is the current Ms Marvel. They appurr in their own respective comic books and together in the Marvel Rising series.
Directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, the tale  stars Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Clark Gregg as Phil Coulson, Lashana Lynch as Maria Rambeau, Akira Akbar as her daughter Monica, Anette Bening as Dr. Lawson, Lee Pace as Ronan, Jude Law as the Star Force Commander, Djimon Hounous as Korath, Rune Tempte as Bron Char, Gemma Chan as Minn-Erva, Algenis Soto as Att-Lass…
Ben Mendelson as Talos and Sharon Blynn as his wife Soren. Carol has an alien cat named Goose, who is purrtrayed by several cats. Captain Marvel’s origin tale begins on the Kree Empire’s home world Hala, but most of the tale occurs on or near Earth in 1995 AD, when and where Carol meets Nick, Phil, and is reunited with other characters of various species, whilst the war betwixt the Kree and the Skrulls also reaches Earth.
The movie has the good mix of humor, drama, action, plot twists and marvelous myth building, but I wish it was the bit longer, not as rushed, and had even more character developments. A few scenes seemed visually too dark, and there was some regrettably unstable “shaky” camera work during some fight scenes, but it has the high purrduction values with the splendid sets, purrops, costumes, locations, purractical & visual FX.
The stunts, hair and make-up, sound and mewsic are excellent too, but my favorite aspects of the movie are the actors’ brilliant purrformances as the movie very faithfully captures the spirit and fun of the comics. There are also two important mid-end credits scenes which should not be overlooked, and I will give this movie the A minus grade. Nyow I will turn The Mew over to Trini-chan, who wishes to discuss
Kim Possible.
What do Alita, Carol Danvers and Kim Possible have in common this year? They are the great heroines of comics & animation who got their own live-action movies this year! I was glad to watch this live action adaptation of the wonderfully fun 2002 animated TV series Which was  created by Mark McCorkle & Bob Scholey. it is about Kim the teen age high school student and crime fighter who is helped by her friends Ron, Wade & Rufus to fight the villains!
Kim’s mom & dad are scientific geniuses and she has two younger twin brothers. Written by Josh Cagan, Mark & Bob, & directed by Adam Stein & Zach Lipovsy, this movie’s plot purrtains to Kim’s drama at Middleton High School with her rival Bonnie and new friend Athena, when she, Ron, Rufus and Wade are not busy trying to thwart the evil Dr. Drakken and his tough henchgirl She-Go! There is also the pre-titles sequence of rescuing the inventor Dr. Glopman from the evil Professor Dementor!
It stars Sadie Stanelya as Kim Possible, Sean Giambone as Ron Stoppable, Isaac Ryan Brown as Wade, Nancy Cartwright as the voice of Rufus the naked mole rat, Taylor Ortega as She-Go, Todd Stashwick as Dr. Drakken, Ciara Riley Wislon as Athena, Erika Tham as Bonnie, Alyson Hannigan as Dr. Ann Possible, Matthew Clarke as dad, Connie Ray as Nana Possible, Patrick Sabongul as Dr. Glopman, Patton Oswalt as Professor Dementor and Christy Carlson Romano (the original Kim voice actress) as Poppy!
Rufus the smart, brave naked mole rat is portrayed via the visual FX. I think that this was a well-directed family-friendly movie with the great cast, sets, locations and FX that nicely understood the characters, plot, and humor of the animated series. I do not wish to spoil any of the plot, but I could not help but wonder that since this is the Disney movie, if there is any connection betwixt Kim Possible’s Athena and Tomorrowland’s Athena? Nextly I would like to discuss
We were eagerly anticipating this suspenseful, scary movie by Jordan Peel whose prior movie Get Out we quite admired! We were also pleased that it stars actors Lupita Nyong’o and Winston Duke who we loved in the Black Panther movie! This time they portray Adelaid and Gabe who are the parents of two young children, Zora and jason who are portrayed by Shahadi Wright Josehh and Evan Alex. Those four actors also portray the family’s dopplegangers who invade the summer home!
The home invasion becomes the vengeful game of cat and mouse with the very mysterious occurrences, but I should not spoil more of the very captivating, thrilling, complex plot! I thought that Us was the great movie all around, and excels in pretty much every aspect, from the plot, pace, dialogue, direction, acting and stunt performances, to the environments. cinematography, make-up, FX, music and editing! Like Get Out, it is quite the thought provoking film to which I will give the high praise! That is all for our movie mewsings, so now I will turn The Mew over to Tara-chan, who will begin our
comic book reports, with her review of
My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic #75!
Arigato nya! We love the My Little Pony TV series, movies, toys, books and – and comics! Published by IDW, the comics faithfully capture the spirit, style and – and the characters of the animated tales, but wit the different advantages of the purrinted comics medium! There is such the supurrb stable of artists, authors and- and editors that create the comics,  -and  it is hard to believe that those comics have been around for almost seven years!
Thusly, they are up to the monumentous doubly-sized 75th issue, which is purriced at $7.99 and has the uninterrupted 40 page tale followed by the 8 pages of the ads, nya. It is available in the choice of  the four different overs: cover A by Andy Price, cover B by Sara Richard, the retailers incentive cover by Amy Mebberson, and – and  the mysterious convention exclusive cover, nya.
This issue is case-bound instead of stapled together, nya. It was the tough decision, but I chose cover A which depicts Spike and Twilight Sparkle by the purretty stained glass window, nya! The tale was written by Katie Cook & Andy, illustrated by Andy, colored by Heather Breckel, lettered by Neil Uyetake, edited by Megan Brown and – and Bobby Curnow, nya. That team worked on the first issue, nya!
Nyow for the brief taste of the plot, nya!  It begins in the past during the cosmic catastrophe which is remedied by Celestia, Luna, King Aspen, and – and King Grover who believe that Discord is to blame, but he is not the culpurrit, nya! Then most of the tale is set in the contempurrary Ponyville when Twilight Sparkle notices the astronomical problem with the Andalusian Constellation–
— which is connected to the evil Cosmos who is even more powerful than Discord, nya!’ Unfortunately, when Twilight finds the meteorite, she becomes possessed by Cosmos who schemes to conquer Equestria, nya! Also appurring are Applejack, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, Rarity, Rainbow Dash, Spike, Zecora, Big McIntosh, Apple Bloom, Scootaloo, Sweetie Belle, Apple Bloom, and – and the various background ponies to identify, nya!
It is quite the thrilling first chapter of the story arc, which has the beautiful scenic and –  and character art, the great dialogue, the purrfect pace, and the many subtle nods and references to various science fiction movie locations, nya! I am quite eagerly awaiting the next issue to find out what happens next, nya! ! Nyow to continue the pony report, I would like to discuss
My Little Pony: Nightmare Knights #5, nya!!
In this mini-series, Celestia was caught by the evil Pony of Shadows, and – and corrupted by Discord’s cousin Eris who rules the other world’s Las Pegasus chaotic casino castle; so Luna and – and Stygian recruited the Trixie, Tempest and – and Capper, to help to rescue Celestia, who is nyow known as Daybreaker, nya.
There have been the brief appurranes by Cadance, Glitter Drops, Flim, Flam and – and the Yak tribe, nya. Going undercover into the vast casino, they have the disguise aliases, so Luna is Starry Night Terror, Stygian is The Dark Horse, Tempest is Maelstrom Shade, Trixie is Roxy, and – and  Capper is Alley Cat, nya!
Maelstrom Shade challenged Daybreaker, but got caught by Eris, so nyow the others have to rescue them in this final issue of the mini-series, nya! Issue #5 is purriced $3.99 and – and has the uninterrupted 20 page tale followed by the 8 pages of the ads. nya. We are glad when the ads do not interrupt the tale, nya!
It was written by Jeremy Whitley, illustrated by Tony Fleecs, lettered by Neil, edited by Bobby and – and Megan, nya! It is available in the choice of cover A by Tony, cover B by Brenda Hickey, and – and the retailers Incentive cover by Jennifer L. Meyer, nya. We have met Jeremy, Tony and – and Brenda at the conventions, nya!
There are many great moments in this bittersweetly thrilling final chapter, such as Capper  trying to trick Eris, Luna trying to purrsuade Daybreaker, Tempest arguing with Eris, and the climactic battle, nya! The art is so beautifully drawn with the great fonts, the richly vibrant colors, and – and the sumptuous details, nya!
I was very happy with both of those pony comics, which I will give the high purraise grade of the “A” as n Applebuck, nya! You know, Jeremy has written purrolifically the many other comic books, such as Vampirella, Sea of Thieves, Rainbow Brite, Princeless, and – and The Unstoppable Wasp, nya! I am done, so nyow here is onee-chan to tell us about
Princeless: Raven the Pirate Princess:
Year Two Book Six: Assault on Golden Rock, nya!
Arigato, Tara-chan, nya!  Created and written by Jeremy and published by Action Lab Comics, the Princeless series purrtains to the adventurous diverse ladies who refuse to be oppurressed by unfair gender and racial roles or stereotypes in the medieval era, nya! It introduced the 17 year old Captain Raven Xingtao who would later star in this wonderful spin-off series, nya!
Raven is the cunning, agile mariner, archer daughter of the pirate king, nya. She recruited her own multi-racial, all – girl crew for her three mast ship to sail vengefully against her evil brothers Crow and Magpie’s ships, and thus reclaim her rightful inheritance, nya! The girls have the new sense of family, romances, adventures  and purrpose as they take control of their destinies, nya!
Raven’s crew includes Ximena, Sunshine, Katie, Jayla, Amirah, Verity, Zoe, Helena, Quinn, Trish, Cid, Melody, Gone, Pirate, Ophelia and Desideria, nya! Recently they were joined by Sunshine’s girlfriend Nanda, but that is not the only shipboard romance, nya! This full color 126 page trade papurrback is purriced at $14.99 and it collects issues #9-13 of Year Two of the series, nya!
The tale written by Jeremy, illustrated by Christine Hipp, colored by Xenia Pamfil, lettered by Justin Birch and  edited by Nicole D’Andria, with the front cover art by Xenia, nya! Raven’s ship has finally neared Golden Rock, the island with the beautiful fortress built by her esteemed grandmother which has been usurped by Raven’s evil brother Magpie, nya.
It would be the tough nut to crack, because it is guarded my many merc pirates and kunoichi, but fortunately Raven’s crew have special kills and abilities aplenty, plus the bluepurrints to the fortress, nya. Furthermore, they are aided by the dance troupe including Alexis, Shiori, Asha and Imelda, who disguise Raven and her crew as the dancing girls for magpie’s party, nya!
Thusly we get to see the ladies very different look after the make overs in the sexy dance costumes, nya! Not all of the transformations are merely cosmetic, as two of the crew are actually the shape-shifting magickal creatures, but I should not disclose the other surpurrises in the fun, beautiful tale which brims with the action, romance, and other significant developments, nya!
I am purrticularly fond of the character designs, poses, expurressions and dialogue; and the art includes six full-page pics which wonderfully showcase the costumes and the scenery, nya! This continues to be one of my favoritest series, and I will give this book the “A” as in Amirah, nya! Nextly I would like to discuss the tale of another pirate girl who is the titular star of
Belit #1, nya!
Created in 1934 and known as The Queen of the Black Coast, Belit was the famous female pirate and lover of Conan the barbarian in author Robert E. Howard’s the sword & sorcery tales of The Hyborbian Age, nya! In this comic book published by Marvel, we learn of her origin as the daughter of Dread Admiral Atrahasis the pirate king who commands the pirate fleet of the country of Shem, nya!
This 1st issue is purriced at $3.99 and has the 28 pages which include the 20 page tale plus the credits page, the purreview page for issue #2, the 3 pages of the bonus purrose  tale, and the 3 page sof the ads which unfortunately do interrupt the comic- but that is my only quibble about the comic which was written by Tini Howard, illustrated by Kate Niemczyk, colored by Jason Keith, lettered by Travis Lanham, and  edited by Mark Russo, nya!
The mane cover art is by Aana Takeda and the various variant covers’ art is by Afu Chan;  Oliver Vatine; Sara Pichelli & Mattia Iacono, nya. In the port city of Asgulin, Atrahasis has been mugged and marooned to slowly die upon the sandbar by his enemies, but when Belit tries to rescue him he asks for the more merciful quick death by her sword. Then she takes the sword to the muntieers aboard his three-masted schooner The Tigress, nya!
I should not reveal much more of the plot, but I will merely add that the slavers are not the only monsters for her to encounter at sea, nya! It is the tragic start of her career, but she is relentlessly feisty in purrsuit of her goals and enemies, nya! After that are the three purrose pages of “Bone Whispers”, part 1 of 5 by Michael A. Stackpole, in which Belit is reunited with the old family friend N’yaga the shaman who joins her on the quest for treasure, nya!
This was a beautiful, great fun issue and I am very eager to see what happens next for the feisty pirate queen! I am done, so nyow here is Ilyana to begin our
our manga mewsings, with her review of
the Aria The Masterpiece Edition vol. 1!
Kozue Amano’s Aria series was voted as our favoritest manga and anime of the past decade! It is the beautiful, charming, slice of life science fiction tale set on the planet Mars in the future, 180 years afer it was terraformed such that the polar ice melted and covered 90% of the surface in water, so the planet was renamed Aqua, whilst The Earth has been renamed Manhome.
The mane character is Akari who is an appurrentice gondolier  or undine under the tutelage of her senpai Alicia at the small Aria company in the city of Neo Venusia, which is the exact replica of Venice, Italy. Other recurring characters include the undines and mascot cats at two other gondola companies, plus the other residents and visitors who Akari is pleased to meet!
Originally published in Japan in 2002 by Mag Garden the series was titled Aqua, but after 2 volumes it was changed to Aria. It was first translated into English in 2004 by ADVision, but they only published 3 volumes of it. Then in 2004 Tokyo Pop published it here, but only got up to 8 volumes. The anime TV series was published here on DVD by Nozomi!
Nyow Tokyo Pop has started over with the lovely larger 6″ x 8.5″ omnibus edition of the manga! Starting with the Aqua tales in which Akari arrives at Aqua to meet Alicia and the Aria company’s namesake martian Cat, volume 1 is purriced a $24.99 and has the 370 pages with the 9 color pages & wraparound cover! It was translated by Alethea & Athena Nibley.
The manga was retouched & lettered by Vibrraant, and edited by Lena Atanassova, and in – chiefly edited by Stu Levy, with marketing associate Kae Winters, and the graphic design by the digital tech &media assistant Phillip Hong. I will give this edition the A grade, and hope that this time the entire manga series will be translated & published here! Nextly I would like to discuss
Monster Wrestling: Interspecies Combat Girls vol. 1!
Originally published in 2018 in Japan as Monwres – Ishukakutou Monster Musume, this action-packed urban monster girl fantasy manga pertains to the demi-human ladies of the Belleza wrestling federation! It was written by Tyatoniyou, illustrated by Ganmarei and purrduced by Takeo Aoki, recently published in North America by Yen Press, translated into English by Ko Ransom and lettered by Takeshi Kamura!
However, due to the language, violence, sexuality & nudity, it is rated M for mature readers and not for the widdle kitties. There are some icky creepy bug scenes too. Purriced $13.00 in the USA & $17.00 in Canada, Vol. 1 has the 194 pages compurrised of the Black & White manga chapters 1-7, two additional short tales, the author’s cordial message, purrofiles of a few of the characters, and 2 color pages.
There is additional art on the interior covers, including the ladies’ boobs size compurrison, and the exterior covers sport the full –  color wraparound scene. Belleza includes  Urus the centaur, Nacha the harpy, Pippa the spider girl, Dolly the dryad, and their leader Kayla the kraken girl, who gives special training & attention to poor nervous rookie Tirol the cerberus dog girl who tends to be rather puny and scared…
.. except when she fears for the safety of her friends and then “hulks out” in the fierce berserker rage! As the cerberus type, she has two additional; canine heads, Bero & Beru who have their own minds & purrsonalities. Unfortunately, she has been targeted by the deadly force of Ajida, the extremely powerful dragon-snake girl of World Monwres Entertainment which is the biggest federation. She wants to hire Kayla.
Other characters include Ein the cyclopean referee, Furoran the sad slime girl, Squidalinsky the squid girl maid, and the ring announcers. There is the bonus illustration by Okayado of his Monster Musume characters Miia the lamia & Centorea the centaur in the ring! Fans of the monster girl genre might like this manga, but there is much sexy “fan service” &  gory supurrnatural combat violence! Nyow here is Nyo-sensei to tell us about–
Hakumei & Mihochi vol. 4!
Hai! We are big fans of this fantasy manga by Takuto Kashiki which purrtains to the slice – of – life tales of house – mates Hakumei & Mikochi who are the the tiny little lasses who are small enough to ride upon their small critter friends, and  live in the lovely tree house in the lush forest! Each chapter also includes the splendid annotation page of travelogue and lore!
Hakumei (with the Brown hair) builds & repairs things, whilst Mikochi (with the Black hair) cooks & sews. They are part of the community of animal & tiny human friends who reside in the wilderness, rural, surburban & urban dwellings much as we do, and each chapter is the look at their day – to – day – lives, from their work and shopping to exploring and entertaining!
Originally published in Japan in 2013 by Kadokawa, it is published here in English by Yen Press, translated by Taylor Engel, lettered by Abigail Blackman, and rated “T” for the teenaged readers. Purriced at $15.00 in the USA & $19.50 in Canada. Volume 4 has the 192 B&W pages which are compurrised of chapters 20-26 plus the short  side – story & 7 annotation pages.
Nyow for the taste of the wonderful plots! In chapter 20 they join their sciency friend Sen who has the turtle –  shell house for the submarine voyage into the lake, whilst in chapter 21 their weasel friend Iwashi helps to repair Jada’s home & salon in the ostrich shell; and then in chapter 22 Hakumei & Karashiya make the yummy raspberry jam to sell at the venders festival!
In chapter 23 Hakumei & Mihochi go to the coffee house, and in chapter 24 they construct their own hot tub from the bamboo stalk, when the hot spurring inn is sadly closed for the repairs. In chapter 25 Hakumei purrpares the huge daikon radish purrvided by Mikochi’s sister Ayume, and then in chapter 26 the girls go for the  railway journey on the night train!
The tales are so beautiful and charming, with the exquisitely intricate illustrations and world- building, the charming situations for the delightful characters, with such sumptuously detailed architecture, landscapes, critters, foods, fashions and the various purocesses, so I will continue to give the series the highest purraise! NyowI would like to discuss
Dragon Half Omnibus Edition vol. 2!
We saw the Dragon Half anime OVA years ago and loved it, so I have wanted to read the original manga by Ryusuke Mita’s for the long time, and thusly I was very happy that it was published here in English by Seven Seas this year! It was originally published in Japan in 1998 by Kadokawa, so this is the 20th anniversary!
It is the comedic Dungeons & Dragons-ish adventures of Mink the sexy, sassy cute and tough half human / half dragon girl (her mom is the dragon and her dad is the human), friends Lufa, Pia & Mappy who search for Pido Potion which might transform her into the full human because she is in love with Dick Saucer the idol knight!
Pink is the petite dragon girl with the Red eyes, fair skin, lush waist-length Red hair, the cute Yellow horns, the slender Red tail , the inny belly button and the peppy disposition. You might think that she would be quite the catch, but Dick Saucer only views her as the enemy dragon to slay, which is why she craves the potion!
However, Lady Vina the half human / half slime girl and her evil father King Siva want to slay Pink, and have sent the numerous mercenaries and monsters after her. This is unfortunate for the various humans, ogres, slimes, golems, demons, spiders, lamias and other enemies who Pink typically defeats- and sometimes eats!
In volume 2, the amewsing fun continues as Mink, Pia, Lufa and Mappy continue to put up with the violent drama of Dick, Vina and Mink’s quarrelsome purrents, plus her disgruntled draconian grandfather, Empurrer Deadlai, several of the demonic generals, the werecat, and Azetodeth the boss devil!
It is rated “T” for the teen readers, purrhaps due to the nudity, language and the often wacky combat violence. Volume 2 is priced $20.99 in the USA and  $223.99 in Canada. Its 344 pages collects volumes 13 & 4 which consist of chapters 20-26 plus the art gallery and the author’s comments with the 24 color pages!
It was translated by Andrew Cunningham, adapted by David Lumsdom, lettered by Laura Heo, in-chiefly edited by Adam Arnold, assistantly edited by Jenn Grunigan, purroof read by Brett Hallahan, Cae Hawksmoor & Andre Richard, with the cover design by Nicky Lim, purrduction management by Lissa Pattillo & assistance by CK Russell. Nyow here is Myayr to tell us about–
A Centaur’s Life vol. 16!
Mary Nyan:
Arigato! A Centaur’s Life is the beautiful, charming, slice – of – life tale manga by Ken Murayama set in the world populated by centaurs, fauns, kemonomimi, angels, dracon, unicorn, snake, frog people, were – tigers and the other species in a contempurrary world. the main characters are usually Himeno the centauress, her high school classmates and their families.
Himeno’s friends are Mitsu the satyr girl, Michi the unicorn girl, Nozomi the Dragon girl, Himeno’s niece Shino-chan and Shino’s friend Maki-chan! Other classmates include Hime’s centauress kouhai Ayaka, her maid Okino, Akechi the satyr girl, Inuki the catgirl, snake girl sisters Suu and Nil, Tama the angel girl, her triplet kitten girl sisters Chinami, Chiho, Chigusa, and their younger sister Sue-chan!
The plots typically focus on activities at school, home & work, amidst the mysterious dreams, conspiracies. purranormal encounters with the aliens, cultural differences, and the war betwixt the mammalian and rebel amphibian folks. It was published s Centaur No Nayami by Tokuma Shoten in Japan, and the english edition is published in North America by Seven Seas .

It was edited by Shannon Fay, and proofread by Janet Houck, with the logo design by Courtney Williams, cover design by Nicky Lim, and purrduction management by Lissa Pattilo with the assistance by CK Russell. The editor in chief is Adamn Arnold and the publisher is Jason DeAngelis. It is suggested for readers who are at least older teens, purrhaps due to nudity, language & adult topics.
With the dash of the supurrnatural elements, this volume has the diverse plots, from the various incidents at home, school and sport to the bittersweet peace in the aftermath of the war betwixt the mammalian people and the amphibious people. Mitsu has a “date” at the mewseum, and Nozomi fends off grabby people after her glamorous make-over!
The Chi-chans & Sue-chan meet the younger version of Tama, Maki  and Shino begin their kyudo training, we are inroduced to Clu the frog girl and her angelic boyfriend, Calmada-sensei the centauress begins teaching at the post-war frog school, a merman mercenary ponders his post-war career, and comes down to physiology vs skill for the teams in the girls’ beach volleyball match!
The topics of religion, politics, sexuality, harassment, interspecies relationships, social integration, disabilities, and jealous rivals peppurr the chapters; throughout the book are an analysis of the popular Tales of the Tetrapod World literature; and to top of volume 16 is the look at the the sleepy start and finish of the typical weekday for Himeno, Tama and her sisters!
There are some serious, startling, and tragic moments, but A Centaur’s Life continues to be the quite wonderfully whimsical, poignant and sometimes surreal joy to read with the beautiful, intricate art, so I will give vol. 16 the “A” as in Akechi spends time with a more brotherly friend! That will conclude our book reports, so nyow here at=re Petra and Bunni to purrsent

Meanwhile, In Guest Gallery Four http://catgirlisland.net/art/gallery/guest4.html we are delighted to display more illustrations by illustrator / musician / cosplayer Rebecca Brogden http://www.rbrogdenart.com, who was the guest for our September 2009 Mew!
We know that many of y’all upon the mainland were quite ready for the nippy season to thaw into Spring, but the next two images by Rebecca wonderfully capture the great serene beauty of the snowy scenes! “Winter Sunrise”is the splendiferous landscape of the bare trees in the morning’s pristine snow; and “Cardinal in Winter” depicts our striking Red and Black state bird perched upon the fence as the pretty snowflakes fall!
Speaking of the morning bliss, “Stretch” is Rebecca’s pencil, pen and Copic marker illustration of the alluring auburn hair and tailed kemonomimi arising sensually from the comfy catnap! It is the lovely limited pallet pic of the Red hues, as she smiles and stretches in the short sexy sideless skimpy outfit that is held in place by the strands of pearls that match the White tufts of her supple ears, mew la la!
It certainly seems that the vernal time has arrived gracefully, as heralded by the beautiful faerie in her “Magic Flight”! This is Rebecca’s pencil, pen and Copic marker illustration of the Brown – haired faerie and her widdle butterfly friends flying on the lovely day! They have the matching Lavender and Light Violet lepidopteran wings! Wearing the flouncy off – shoulder French Vanilla dress, she seems pleased to greet us amongst the wispy clouds!
The Springtime has definitely arrived for the bee-autiful “Bee Girl” who hovers amongst the Buttercups that match her Yellow & Black striped stinger and clothes! She is so pretty from her translucent wings and bare –  midriff attire to the blooming flowers and the vernal sky! Hopefully she will find the yummy nectar!
Nextly we have Rebecca’s pencil, pen, Copic and watercolor image of the “Angel Power”! Standing amidst the the budding Green trees, the purrple –  haired angel has the short off-shoulder gown to match her majestic White wings, which are accessorized by the Black sash and strappy sandals, with the Gold trim and musical lyre to match her holy halo, as she strikes the captivating, commanding pose!
Then it is time to set sail upon the moonlit sea as the nautical catgirl declares the “Pirate Life for Me”! It is the bright, clear night for smooth sailing as the Redhead lass in the short off-shoulder
dress with the buccaneer boots and tight corset raises her tankard and swishes her tail as she perches atop the kegs upon the deck of her ship!
It might be the cool breezy night for the pirate, but things are quite steamy in Rebecca’s image of the “Dragon Fire”! Clad in the fluttering breeach-cloth and backless halter top that bare her cleavage, tummy thighs and piked tail, the Raven-haired dragon girl is the scintillating sight with her mightily spread bat-like wings and eyes that glow like golden embers as her fiery aura heats things up!
What could be better than a dragon girl? How about two dragon girls! In Rebecca’s image of the “Dragon Hoard”, the Blonde dragon girl with the Mauve horns, wings, tail and claws in the sexy sleeveless toga with the plunging neckline happily perches upon the treasure chest amidst the huge pile of gold!  hen
Thenis Rebecca’s digital image of “Catgirl Nystia”! She is a friend of Mei & Sugar Wing, nya! Perhaps y’all have seen the prior pics of Nystia Nightshade the shape-shifting vampiric dark faerie, alchemist and idol star? She is Rebecca’s character in Mike’s game! Here in her catgirl form, she is merrily trotting down the gorgeous garden path, wearing the strapless Black & Pink corset with the detached sleeves that match her thigh-high boots!
Lastly but not leastly of Rebecca’s pic of the “Nine-tailed Kitsune”! This fox girl with the caramel colored skin, Blue eyes, Platinum Blonde hair and tails is quite the voluptuous vixen in the sexy  bare-midriff, lavender colored outfit with the detached sleeves as she leans against the tree branch! So, what do y’all think of the art?
The sardinal and sunrise scenes exemplify Rebecca’s great versatility in subject, style and techniques in the fantasy and nature art.
Hai, hai!  The landscape and the seascape are among the many excellent aspects of her  Pirate and Kitsune illustrations!
Those two dragon girl pics also convey the great knack for depicting the sexy, powerful, magickal girls in the lovely couture!
Mary Nyan:
I especially like her richly vibrant use of the color and light in the Stretching Kemonomimi and Catgirl Nystia pics!
Magic Flight and Angel Power exhibit the qualities of the sense of the purrspective, foreshortening, mass, layers and depth!
I love the poses, expressions and clothing details of Rebecca’s pic of the Bee Girl and Mike’s fan art of NukuNuku!
I would like to commend the human and equine anatomical purroportions  of the pegasus and centauress pics!
I think that the illustrations of sisters Christinya and Junipurr faithfully capture their spirit and purrtraiture, nya!
Oh my, the pic of Capurrice & Walt is rather sensually arousing, and the leprechaun pic gives me the craving for the clover salad!
Hang in there- it is almost time for our Aftermew luau, nya! So, what does onee-chan think of the Taiko Therapy, nya?
