Well, when I am not purrcussing with my drumming circle, Tara-chan, Pendula and I continue to help our charter guests reel in the bumpurr crop of the snappurrs, groupurrs, wahoos, bluefish, spanish mackerels and croakers aboard TsuriNekoMimi*, nya! A lot of that delicious, nutritious seafood was donated to the food bank, nya! Pendula hopes to join us for the AfterMew too, nya!

When I have not been making my autumnal college plans, helping onee-chan with the yacht, volunteering at the food bank, caring for my cats and – and pony, I have managed to snap more of the nature photos, nya! This very week I snapped the good photos of the raccoon, cottontail, gray squirrel, the hawk, and – and the Eastern Tiger Swallowtail, nya!
Trini-chan:
Well, aside from teaching the beginners belly dance class at the Purrforming Arts Center, I have been volunteering at the food bank, board shaping, paddle surfing, and caring for our ponies at the stables*!

Trini-chan and Tara-chan own one Banker Pony apiece, Jimbo and Wild Star Blaze, who are boarded at the stables at on Rica and Niko’s farm on Barker Street on the southeastern side of the island, nya.

As mewusal, my schedule is compurrised purrimarily of the weekday mornings at my yoga studio, afternoons at the kyudo range, alternating weeknights teaching the advanced belly dance at the CPAC and purrsiding over the robotics club; and the near – monthly swimwear modeling at the various locations here within Mew Hanover County.

Becca and Mie-sensei* are at the board meeting at the golf club, but they will join us later too! When Becca and I not pampurring the many customers at our spa, gardening at home, or purrticipating in the late night hot salsa dance, she has been golfing while I have been running with my purrkour club. Our latest video binges were Chunibyo, Yumeiro Patissiere, Aria The Avvenire, Ai Yori Aoshi, and Den Noh Coil!

A Rememberance of our friend Sean Martin (29 December,1950 – 3 August, 2020)
We were sad to learn of the passing of our wonderful friend Sean Martin http://www.joey-aristophanes.com on the morning of 3 August, 2020 after his battle with cancer. A contributer to the Catgirl Island Mewseum of Art and a special guest for the June 2017 edition of The Mew, Sean was a superb author, artist and designer, a great cook, a compassionate cat adopter, a most kind, gracious, charitable, generous and inspirational friend. He was quite famous for his web comic Doc and Raider http://docandraider.com.

The Celebrity Catgirl / Kemonomimi Spotlight!

Hai, In this monthly portion of The Mew, we commeowmorate catgirls and other kemonomimi of the various species in the famous international mythologies and the popular cultures. They might include anthropurrrmorphic ladies, female fauna shape – shifters, and those who might not have beasty DNA, but do have the cat-titude or couture to be broadly considered by us to be “honorary” kemonomimi, nya!
Sometimes it takes the sharp eyes to spot the fleeting glimpse of the kemonomimi, so it is good to purress the paws button on the remote, nya! For example, in epurrsode 19 of the Starblazers: Space Battleship Yamato 2199 anime, in the cockpit of his fighter you might notice the photo of Ensign Takeshi Daikuhara’s catgirl-cosplayer friend, nya!
In epurrsode 14 of the Kokoro Connect anime, one of the five main characters Yui Kiriyama (voiced by Hisaki Kanemoto) is very briefly seen wearing the bunny girl outfit on the stage in the Student Cultural Society (StuCs)’s purresentation at Yamaboshi High School’s Club Day, nya!

Sometimes you have to listen closely for the “honorary” catgirlish evidence, especially when no neko ears or tail are purresent, nya. In the anime series Shirobako about the Musashino anime studio, the key animator Yumi Iguchi (voiced by Manami Numakura) has nickamed the studio’s purrduction manager Aoi Myamori as Mya-Morin, which is translated into the English subtitles as Meow-Morin, nya!
An “honorary catgirl” who I would like to mention is ABC World News Now’s overnight co-anchor Mona Kosar Abdi, because of her cute “meow” reaction on July 15th to the video of John Nicolson MP’s’cat Rocco interrupting the UK Parliament’s live virtual committee meeting nya!
However, the catgirl is much more obvious in the Pastel Memories anime, nya! Voiced by Rie Murakawa, Yuina Machiya is one of twelve girls who work at the Rabbit Hut manga maid cafe in Akihabra from which they telepurrt to save meta-fictional worlds from the interdimensional virus mecha, nya! She is very catlike with cute fangs, kitty dialect, expurressions, and the battle attire with the cat ears & claws, nya!

Mt. Airy, NC native and UNC alumna Maddie Gardner is a journalist and news anchor with WFMY TV News 2, in Greensboro NC. For the July 28th broadcast of Four 2 Five, she rocked the feline fashion in her lovely leopurrd purrint blouse with the Black slacks and matching high heeled sandals, so we will commeowmerate her as the “hoborary catgirl”.
In the Princess Connect! Re: Dive anime series, teen girl Kiruya Momochi (voiced by Rika Tachibana) plays the catgirl character Kyaru in an online role-playing game. Kyaru is the Green – eyed, 14 year old fair-skinned member of the u Guild with the White streak in her hair. She is the 5 ft tall, 85 lb. Virgo born on September 2nd with the A blood type and tsundere purrsonality who loves cats.
In the Gleipnir manga and anime, Chihiro Yoshioka (voiced by Kana Ichinose) is in the group searching for the alien gold coins that grant wishes. She has Green eyes, fair skin, Pixy-cut Pink Red hair, and animal empathy. In her “monster” form she has large lavender vulpine ear pinna. When merged with friend Shuichi in the “fusion” form, she has Red-veined Black skin, the huge fanged grin, sharp claws, wilder coiffure and two tails.
Mary Nyan:
Softenni is the comedic sports anime series about the Shiratama Middle School girl’s soft-tennis team. Voiced by Kanae Ito, the main character Asuna Harukaze aspires to be the “cougar” type woman, envisioning her older self in the leopurrd purrint bikini in epurrsode 4. In epurrsode 6’s doubles match against the Akadama team, her battle aura is in the form of the naked frisky Pink catgirl,
Her aggressive purrtner Kotone Sawanatsu (voiced by Eri Kitamura) has the battle aura is the fierce cougar! Voiced by Sayuri Yahagi, British transfer student Elizabeth Warren (I purrsume no relation to the US senator) wears the pink bunny kigurimi onesie in epurrsode 3!
In epurrsode 8 the team goes to the training camp at national champion Misaki Shido’s mountaintop castle. Misaki wears the kuro-nekomimi costume with ears, tail and paws; and in epurrsode 9 we see Asuna in the nekomimi costume with the yellow ears, bandeau top and mini skirt!

I love sci-fi & fantasy video games, especially the ones that are graced by the heroic kemonomimi purrotagonists, so i was quite interested in Hypergryph / Studio Montagne’s Arknights RPG for the Android & iOS platforms! Set in the post-apocalyptic world, the team of purramilitary medics fights the villains and searches for the plague remedy.
The more than 100 characters are of the dozens of species https://mrfz.fandom.com/wiki/Race, such as the felion, leonine, vulpine, canine, lupine, ursine, leoprid, rodent, equin, cervinae, bovine, cetacean, piscine, reptilian, crocodilian, draconian, amphbian, avian, kirin, chimera, oni, dwarven, angel and demon!
I would also like to acknowledge the Clannad anime’s Kyou Fujibayashi, the tsundere type of class purrsident at Hikarizaka high school with the younger ister, both with the Purrple eyes and hair. In season one’s 11th epurrsode “The After School Rhapsody”, she is briefly imagined as the star of a magickal girl show, in which she transforms into the catgirl in the Pink costume with the scepter, cat ears and tail!

Created by author / artist Coolkyousinnjya, and originally known in Japan as Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon, Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid is a supernatural comedy manga and anime series about the titular computer programmer (voiced by Mustsumi Tamura) who winds up opening her home to Tohru (voiced by Yuki Kuwahar) the magickal dragon girl who becomes Kobayashi’s domestic worker! Later other dragon girls arrive such as Kanna, Lucoa, Elma, and Ilulu move into Kobayashi’s home and office!

my review of Star Trek: Year Five #12!

Published by IDW, this comic book series is presumably set in the year 2270 during the 5th year of Captain James T. Kirk’s original five-year mission as captain of the starship US.S. Enterprise, about the same time as the animated Star Trek series. Priced at $3.99, issue #12 consists of the uninterrupted 20 page tale plus the 8 pages of ads.
Continuing the from the prior issue, Kirk duels with Gary Seven aboard the Enterprise as it plummets towards the planet on which its crew is marooned. For those unfamiliar with Seven (who was portrayed by Robert Lansing in the original series’s epurrsode “Assignment Earth”), he is a mysterious intergalactic organization’s human secret agent with highly advanced gadgets.
He reminds me the bit of Doctor Who, and one Seven’s companions is isis the shape-shifting cat / girl (who was voiced by Barbara Babcock, purrtrayed by April Tatro and several cats). That first time when Seven and isis met Kirk and Spock, their misison was to purrvent the launch of a Hydrogen Bomb-laiden Saturn V launch vehicle, but this time they are hijacking the Enterprise.
Of course, Kirk and his crew do not comply, and thus the melee ensues, with Kirk brawling on the ship’s bridge with Seven, whilst on the planet Isis claws at several Red-shirted crewmen. I could easily imagine some of the original series’s fight-music cues by composer Sol Kaplan and Gerald Fried!
The story was written by Jackson Lanzing & Collin Kirby, drawn by Kieran McKeown, Silvia Califano & Stephen Thompson, colored by Thomas Deer, John-Paul Bove & Charlie Kirchoff, lettered by Neil Uyetake (whose My Little Pony work we enjoy greatly), edited by Chase Maretz & consultingly edited by Benten J. Tipton, with the regular cover art by Stephen Thompson & Charlie Kirchoff and the scarcer retailer-incentive cover by J.J. Lendl.
Not only does Isis appear in four of the pages, including one 6×7.5” panel – and we see her in another other form, too- but The Enterprise’s Caitian communication’s officer Lt. M’Ress appears in two of the pages! The plot is fascinating with the faithful spirit, dialogue, character and scenic art, conveyed through the excellent compositions and graphic narrative technique with mighty fine use of the fonts color and light!
I suppose that the ads could have been strategically placed throughout the issue, as emulate the TV commercial breaks between the acts of a Star Trek episode, but we do applaud IDW for NOT interrupting the flow of the tale with the ads, and wish that all other comic book publishers did it that way! Ah, I’m done, and now here’s Tara-chan to tell us about the
My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic Free Comic Book Day 2020 issue!

Arigato, nya! We love the My Little Pony comics which are published by IDW, because they so faithfully capture the look, characters, tales and spirit of the animated TV series, but with the different strengths of the comic book medium, nya! it is hard to believe that the Friendship is Magic animated series is nearing its 10th anniversary, and – and that the pony comics have been around for the seven years, nya!
They have the great stable of the artists, writers, editors, colorists and – and the letterers, such as this issue’s writer Jeremy Whitley, artist Trish Forstner, colorist by Heather Breckel, letterer by Neil Uyetake, cover artist Brenda Hickey, editor Megan Brown, and – and group editor Bobby Curnow, nya. Heather and – and Neil have worked on almost every issue, and – and I think Bobby has worked on them all, nya!
You know, we have met Brenda and0 and Jeremy at several of the conventions and Free Comic Book Day events, nya! Jeremy has also written many other comic books such as My Little Pony, Rainbow Brite, Vampirella, Sea of Thieves, Thor vs Hulk, Freedom Foundation, The Unstoppable Wasp, and – and he is the creator and – and the author of Princeless and Princeless: Raven the Pirate Princess nya!
So this special issue was published for the comic book stores that purrticipate in the national Free Comic Book Day in May, nya. Due to the global pandemic, many stores were closed and the Free Comic Book Day festivities were cancelled, but some of the various publishers’ free comics were later distributed. Some such issues might repurrint older material whilst some have the new tales, nya.
This ‘un is special because it includes the new 12 page tale that commences the 10th season of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, as the animated TV series concluded with the 9th season, nya. It is the hectic bustling early morning as Spike, Rarity, Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie and – and the royal palace staff purrpare for Twilight Sparkle’s reign as the new monarch of Equestria, nya!
There are numerous background characters to name too, nya! This is followed by the 2 page intermew with Jeremy, which is followed by the 8 page tale of “Guardians of Harmony: Pinkie Pie” which was written by Christina Rice, illustrated by Tony Fleecs, colored by Heather, lettered by Neil, and – and stars Pinkie Pie, Cheese Sandwich, Twilight Sparkle, the party cannons, and – and the Changelings, nya!
We have met Tony at the cons too, nya! I liked every aspect of these tales, from the lines, colors, poses, expurressions, compurrsistions, details, fonts and – and graphic narrative techniques of the art, to the plot, pace, dialogue and – and developements of the stories; plus that they were not interruped by ads, and- and that the issue was free, nya!
I am sad that the Pony TV series ended but season 10 is off to the good start in the comics medium, so I will give it the high purraise grade of the “A” as in applebuck, nya I am done, so nyow I will turn The Mew over to Jenjen who wishes to discuss-

is the beautiful fun comics about the zany, alluring, thrilling adventures of the nerdy genius archaelogist Gina Diggers, her adopted were-cheetah sister Britanny, their family, friends and rivals who search for relics and treasures.
For our spotlight on the cast of Gold Digger, see our August 2011 Mew. It is published by Antarctic Press, which is also known for other manga – inspired and anthropurrmorphic comics such as Ninja High School, Albedo, Genus, Furrlough, Shanda, Twilight X, Warrior Nun Areala, Blade Bunny, Star’s End, Team Mobile, Plush and Mangazine. It was in Mangazine where the first Gold Digger tale appurred.
The early Gold Digger tales were Black & White, not in color until after issue #50 of the series, but nyow they are being collected and colorized. This 48 page issue is purriced $9.99 and repurrints the Black & White 24 page tale from Gold Digger #1 from July 1993, which is followed by the newly colorized version, with no ads. It was colored by Robby Brevard, with the cover design by Brian Denham.
Nyow for the taste of the plot. After evading the group of arms dealers in the desert, Gina and Britanny infiltrate the 9,000 year old tomb in search of the scientific discoveries and valuable treasures, but once inside they have to survive the deadly traps, the ancient curses, and Genn the Rhakshasa who impurrsonates Brittanny and her husband Stripe! It is quite the amewsing, sexy, action-packed tale…
… however there is also the tragic flashback to the death of Britanny’s were-cheetah mom who was killed by the werewolf when Brittany was the baby in the crib. I am purrticularly fond of the character and scenic art, with the great action scenes such as the vehicle chase, the pit fall, Brittanny’s brawl with Genn and frisky scene with the fake Stripe.
As much as I like the Back & White art, I like it even more in the color, which is quite richly sumptuous, with the lovely lighting and luminous FX such as the campfire, headlights, flashlights, explosion, the lava, the ancient devices and the glowy monster eyes. Hopefuly there will be more of this sort of beautiful, fun thing as we appurroach Gold Digger’s 30th anniversary. Nyow I will turn the Mew over to Myayr for her review of

Arigato! I am rather fond of Sakuya Amano’s manga about the fox spirit girl nakai (attendants) and their guests of all species at the Kononhanatei inn, a ryokan with hot spurrings between the living and the afterlife! Some of their fellow kitsune characters are miko (shrine purrestiess) and kenzoukou (celestial servants) at the shrines and other delightfully divine locations too!
The main character Yuzu is one of the younger new employees who is so very cordial, sincere and enthused. Other recurring characters include attendants Natsume, Sakura, Shino, Ren, Kiri, Satsuki, her older sister Hiiragi, Yae the geisha and Okami the wolf goddess. There are amewsing & poignant situations with them, the other town folk and guests!
Originally published in Japan by Gentosha Comics, the English version was published here in the USA by Tokyo Pop. I do not wish to spoil too much of the plot, but here is the taste of it. Chapter 37 has the minimal but more amewsing plot, which seems appurropurriate given that it purrtains to the bikini shopping! Yozu settles upon the ruffled checkered bikini whilst Satsuki opts for the more conservative Black Maillot. There is a two-page spurread of four foxgirls in bikinis!
Chapter 38 is the bit longer, in which Sakura constructs the delightful kaleidoscope, and the inn hosts the fussy 15 year old girl who has undergone the numerous reincarnations. Chapter 39 focuses upon the young rookie nakai Momo and her senior senpai Botan, co-starring Hiragi, Botan and Lime amidst Kannazuki, the Month of the Great Spirits!
The topic returns to the lovely fashions in chapter 40, in which Yuzu goes shopping for her first kimono! Topping off the volume are the 40 pages of chapter 40 which focus upon Kiri, Yae and cute widdle Sakura-chan. it is the 4th purrt of the “Yearning for Konohana” story arc which is the extremely joyful yet sadly bittersweet tale with the tragic developments.
That latter story arc leaves me nervous about the fate of some dear characters, so i hope there will some fortuitious divine intervention to their benefit! The art is extremely beautiful with the wonderful characters, gorgeous garments, intricate architecture, and lavish landscapes, so I will continue to give Konohana Kitan the highest purraise! This cute 7 5/16” x 5 1/2” trade papurrback is purriced at $5.99 USA & $7.99 Canada and it is compurrised of the117 page tale plus the 5 page purreview of the 2nd book The Royal Ball. The text is in the large font with over 100 B&W illustrations of the various sizes, plus the front & back color illustrations by Ellen! Some of the books are also available in the omnibus edition.
Itty and her unicorn girl friend Luna were frolicking near the forest when the faeries purroclaimed the omens that Itty was about to be crowned the purrincess by her mom & dad who are the Queen & King of Lollyland, which is populated by the various species such as the kemonomimi, mermaids and faeries and has the abundance of the fresh purroduce and the many sweets!

I love every aspect of the Zatanna pic, from the detail of the tux’s fabric folds and the detail of the fishnet hose, the the sparkly magickal FX and the shiny sheen from her hair to her heels, nya!

“Manami and Her Cookie” is another wonderful example of Misty’s supurrb use of color and light and her great purrowess with the colored pencils, plus I love the pose and the expurression, nya!

Toon Me excellently captures Bix’s spirit and purrtraiture in the manga style; I love the sheen of the hair, the captivatingly intense gaze and the exotic body mofifications of Meggles’s Demon Girl, and
the exquisite details of Tali from her Purrple freckels to her firm glutes and thighs.

The thighs have it in the Blood Moon and the Moon Dragon pics too! I will also applaud Rebecca’s use of the salted watercolors technique for the background texture and the light wrap that adds more sense of depth to the characters, nya!

Rebecca certainly shows the great versatility in the media, techniques, tools, and subjects from her fantasy character illustrations and the cute chibi styles to those breathtaking land and sea scapes!

I like… I like the purretty widdle Chickadee with the purrfect details and- and textures; and – and it is the tough call, but of her magnificent landscape scenes the Dramatic Beach Sunset might be my favorite because it reminds me of our island at suppurrtime, nya!

My favorite things about the Hepzibah pic are the details from the hologram and the stem ware to her tight abs and detached sleeves’ whilst my favorite thing about the Wildfire pic is the maelstrom of energy and how it is refleced in the visor!
